Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has take Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. We adopted Chewie 3 1/2 years ago. She is around 11 lbs. They said she was 4yrs, but vet said closer to 6 or 7yrs. That makes her around 10 yrs old. At the time they didn't know she was 100% deaf, when they treated her for a terrible ear infection. We learned the day after adoption she couldn't hear us at all. She was very independent, didn't like to be held, but would come for some pets, loved to go for walks, and sleep at end of bed at night. Over the past year she has developed dementia and stopped going on walks and after being let out in backyard she will potty in house if you don't watch her to make sure she goes. She has trouble on the 15 deck stairs of our split level house. Looking for a loving home (with little expectations of her as she's hard to connect with) where someone can let her out often and without many stairs. We do have another small dog and they are fine around each other - but ignore each other.

Come meet me at one of our two Adoption Events this weekend! 💜 Forgotten Star Brewing in Fridley on Saturday, 10/10 from Noon - 2:00pm 💚 Spike & Houles in Stillwater on Sunday, 10/11 from Noon - 2:00pm Age: Estimated DOB 6/16/2026 Dog friendly: Yes, requires one in forever home Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Not fully, still a puppy Crate trained: Learning, still a puppy Fluff is a happy, playful girl who doesn't let doing things a little differently slow her down. Our veterinarian said she's hard of hearing and possibly deaf but she has not had an official hearing diagnosis. What we do know is that Fluff loves being around other dogs, enjoys learning, and has already started figuring out how to communicate with her people in ways that work for her. She's learning her first hand signals and picking up new skills as she goes. She's also just getting started with leash training, while making great progress with her potty routine. She sleeps through the night without accidents and is learning to settle in her crate. She's still a young dog, so her training is very much a work in progress, but she's a willing and enthusiastic student. When she's not learning, Fluff is all about having fun. She loves playing tug, running around the yard with her foster brothers, and wrestling with just about any doggy friend she meets. She's playful, social, and always ready for the next adventure. She does best with another dog in her forever home and would love a family that will continue giving her opportunities to play, learn, and explore. Because Fluff is deaf or very hard of hearing, her family will need to be comfortable communicating through hand signals, visual cues, touch, and other methods rather than relying on verbal commands. She's already showing us how capable she is of learning, and we want her forever family to be excited about continuing that work with her. If you're interested in adopting Fluff, please tell us in your application how you plan to accommodate her hearing impairment and how you would approach training and communicating with a deaf or hard-of-hearing dog. Slim Jim is a dachshund who spinal walks, wears diapers, and has somehow decided that none of those things are nearly as important as making sure everyone knows exactly what he wants at all times. 😂 He is a very typical doxie when meeting new people. Slim prefers a slow introduction and needs a minute to decide that you’re not a murderer. Please don’t take it personally. He’s six inches off the ground and the world is a scary place down there. Once he decides you’re safe though… ohhhhh buddy. You now own a wiener dog. Or, more accurately, a wiener dog owns you. Slim is a MAJOR Velcro dog. He wants to be touching you at all times and sleeping in bed is basically his reason for living. He is an absolutely incredible snuggler and will happily spend hours tucked under the blankets against you. We even have a bedside bassinet for him because sometimes we have the audacity to do things that require both hands. 😂 He’ll wiggle his little body into it and go to sleep next to us until we remember our actual job is holding Slim Jim. He lives with a giant pack of dogs and LOVES his friends. His best friend is another paralyzed dog because she is the second-best snuggler in the house. We did not conduct a competition. Slim just knows. He gets around by spinal walking and has gotten pretty damn good at it. He uses a ramp to get down from furniture and we are currently working on going UP the ramp. Slim’s current position on this is: I have seen you pick me up before. Fair. Because of his paralysis, Slim does not have control over his potty. His bladder needs to be expressed 3–4 times a day and he wears a diaper. We’ll teach his adopter everything they need to know. And yes, changing a dachshund’s diaper will eventually become so normal that you’ll find yourself having a full conversation with another adult while wiping a wiener and not even notice what your life has become. 😂 Cats are fine. Slim has no beef with the kitties. He would prefer a home without small kids. He doesn’t hate children; he just finds all the running around VERY exciting and gets himself way too worked up. Honestly, same. He also does not need a fenced yard, which feels like one of the very few perks you should get when your dog requires multiple diaper changes a day. 😂 Slim Jim needs someone who will be patient while he gets comfortable, learn his pretty simple care routine, let him sleep in bed, and understand that once he loves you, personal space is over. He’s a tiny, opinionated, diaper-wearing sausage with questionable leg function and absolutely nothing wrong with his ability to be dramatic. We love him so freaking much. ❤️🌭
