Age: Estimated DOB 05/27/2023 Weight:11lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: No Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: No, I'm just a puppy Crate trained: No, I'm just a puppy This gorgeous pup has stolen everyone's hearts with her captivatingly unique looks.Imagine a fox, or a miniature German Shepherd. Absolutely adorable! But looks aren't everything, and Josie has a personality that shines just as bright. She's a playful bundle of energy, who's already great at playing tug and fetch. While still a bit mouthy, like many puppies, Josie is learning appropriate chewing habits, and is well behaved when plenty of toys and other chew options are available. She's eager to please, and takes positive correction and re-direction very well. She's really just as sweet as can be. Crate trained, and sleeping through the night, Josie is already a master at bedtime routines. She's also making great progress with potty training, both outdoors and with potty pads. Consistency and a schedule are key to her success. Traveling is no problem. She loves car rides and is very well behaved on the go. She's friendly and social. Josie would love a canine buddy to play with, however, she's also adaptable and would do well as an only dog with someone who is active and engaged. She plays hard, but when her energy has been given an outlet, she's happy to rest quietly on her own, or cuddle in your lap while you relax. If you're looking for a loving, playful, loyal companion, you don't need to look any further. Age: Approximately 3 years old Weight:14lbs  Dog friendly: does well with low key dogs   Cat friendly: Unknow  Kid friendly: Dog savvy kids  Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Phoebe is a sweet loving girl who came to MN from southern TX along with 3 10 day old babies. Phoebe was a wonderful mom; gentle, attentive and protective. Her babies have been adopted and now Phoebe is looking for her own forever home. Once, you win her trust, Phoebe is a doll. She is a happy girl with a great smile who will be so excited to see you when you get home, love to snuggle with you, and crawl under the covers to sleep with you. Phoebe loves, loves, loves treats! The problem with Phoebe is she is very afraid of new people. She will need someone who is very patient and gentle as she learns to trust you. It will be well worth the effort and in time she will love you forever. Phoebe is easily frightened by loud noises and would do best in a calm, quite home. She would be a great fit for an older person or couple. Phoebe does not really like to be on a leash, and would do best with a fenced yard, but she can be pottied on a leash if needed Phoebe would do great with another smaller dog or and older dog. She gets along well the resident dog who is 75 pounds. They try to play but haven't quite figured out how and she can only deal with him for a few minutes as he gets a little too rough for her and she is very submissive. I am good with other dogs and cats but am afraid of the neighbors dog as she is bigger. My foster mom has a 19 pound cocker spaniel and I am fine with her. I just want to have my foster moms lap all to myself and when meals are served think they should all be mine. Foster mom is working on my having better manners. I sleep good through the night but when my mom get up I get up and go outside so she says I am almost 100% trained. Met a new dog yesterday and I even got the crabby old thing to play with me. I have lived with children in the past but because of my size I don’t think toddlers would be a good fit but school age would be better for me. I am shy at first but will warm up quickly. I love to play so another small dog in the house would be great so I have a pal to run around in the yard and chase squirrels and birds. I’ll need a fenced yard to enjoy those activities in. I really like playing with toys and I know to leave the human stuff alone! Adoption Fee:$395 ***************Needs a Fenced Yard************** Pumpkin is a sweet six year old female mix. She has the sweetest eyes and just wants to be next to you and sit by you. Pumpkin was born with deformed front feet and an extra toe. However, this will not stop Pumpkin. She moves around like any other dog and it doesn't stop  her from doing normal things. She needs short walks and she might limp a little off and on when she gets tired. She loves going for short walks and will often stand on her hind legs to see a squirrel in a tree. She loves to be outdoors and is very much at home puttering around the yard. Pumpkin also needs to lose a little more weight. When she arrived, she weighed 26 pounds and she needs to lose 10 pounds. This will help take pressure off of her feet and make walking more comfortable. She does not like her feet being touched, even softly. She has arthritis in her feet and losing weight should help her. If not she might need some medication to help her. Not withstanding her issues, Pumpkin is a HAPPY Loving dog. When you meet pumpkin, the first thought you will have is "what a dear girl" because she is! Pumpkin wishes for  a family with another dog so she can have a buddy and older children. But her biggest wish of all is to be with someone that will love and take care of her always. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Well, hi there! My name is Cricket. and I am a 5-year-old mix who weighs 17lbs. I was a part of a horrible hoarding situation in Pike County. I came to a rescue in KY covered in fleas and significant hair loss. My hair is finally coming back nicely and I'm loving it. I spent my entire life in a crate so I'm not too fond of going in them. I do like exercise pens and BIG yards to run. I love to run and play. I am a loving guy that is still learning how to be a dog. I am a little timid at first but blossom when I get comfortable. Please be patient with me and I promise I'll be your best friend. Will you take a chance on me?! Cricket came to us shy and nervous, but once he gets comfortable his silly personality comes out! He is smart, curious, funny, playful, and cute as a button. He loves treats, toys and playing with other dogs, as well as snuggling up next to you on the couch. He is very curious about his foster's two cats and chases them a bit, but leaves them alone most of the time. Cricket is learning his house manners, and catching on quickly. He is smart and listens when you correct him. We are working on potty training and he has come a long way in a week. He came in pad-trained and is getting into an outside potty routine. He is hesitant to walk on a leash at first, but once he trusts you and gets outside, he absolutely loves walking and meeting people and other dogs. Cricket will be a great companion, once he gets to know you he is affectionate and entertaining.  Interested in adopting? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Frida Girl. I’m a typical eight pound Chihuahua born 10/20/21. I like to make myself known to other dogs and people by yipping. I am very friendly with every person I meet and love to be held and carried. My foster mom has two large dogs that are friendly but I don’t let them get too close since I may be pregnant. When they do come near, I pretend to be vicious but after a few fake nips I think they know it’s all talk. I am trained to go potty outside even though it’s cold out there! When I get done, I celebrate with a little dance. I do great walking on a leash. I love playing ball and doing zoomies around the house. I also like to hide socks and small stuffed toys in my kennel. I spend a lot of time burrowing under blankets when I find them. I avoid hardwood floors as much as possible. They are too slippery! I do sleep in my kennel at night and sometimes during the day. I do like to complain about it because I would rather sleep surrounded by my family.  I would love to find a forever family that has plenty of warm laps to snuggle with!    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Mocha and I'm an 11 lb Chiweenie with an approximate DOB of 7/19/2022 who was surrendered when my owner could no longer care for me. I have experience being around cats and small dogs, middle aged children, and environments where I'm the only animal. Whether I'm enjoying the smells of the outdoors, running around with kids, or playing and wrestling with my other friends, I can thrive and become your best companion...some may even call me your little shadow. A perfect day to me is being in your presence, curling up under a blanket, or cuddling with you in your lap and exchanging hugs and kisses.    Being that I'm still young, learning, and searching for my forever home, I could use your love and patience to help me continue to develop into one of the best dogs I can be. I love to be rewarded as I'm working to master my understanding of doing my business outside, but if any potential accidents are of concern to you, I'm fine wearing a belly band inside until I become a professional. With a consistent schedule, I've been continuing to improve. I am a nervous type on first impressions so if you have frequent guests or visitors, I promise to adapt if you can give me some time to establish my confidence and trust.     I should mention that I'm crate trained and have no issue spending time in there during the day, or sleeping the entire night...although, I'm not opposed to your bed either if there is room for me. I also don't mind if you can leave me with some cardboard, yes, cardboard, while in my crate or even playing around in general. I'm not sure who invented that stuff, but it sure is fun to shred apart and chew on. I also love fixing toys that apparently have a squeaking problem by getting that squeaker out for you so it stops making that noise.    Thank you for reading about me and checking out my pictures...maybe my next picture will be of the both of us! While I may only be in a fraction of your life, I'm hoping you'll be in all of mine.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Pixie, a sleek Chi X with an approximate DOB of 11/13/12. I lost my home when my elderly Mom could no longer care for me.    I weigh about 10 lbs so consider myself a perfect little lap dog and will try to prove it to the new mom or dad. I love nothing more than to be under a blanket snuggled up with you. I have the sweetest look of love that i give to my person. I tend to make friends with women easily, but men and other dogs take a little bit more time to warm up. But if given a little time, I’ll warm up as well. I’ve also met kids, and did very well with them. They were probably about seven years old and very respectful of me. However, despite my gray hair, I do have energy to play chase with my buddies, or to take a walk or run around the neighborhood. I have a little happy dance I do sometimes when it’s time to go take a walk. I’m house trained and also love to sleep in. Im not a huge barker, so I could live in an apartment or house. I’ve lived with cats and dogs, but would also be perfectly content about being the only pet in the home. People are my favorite. I’m an all around easy dog.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
Snapshot of Stacie: Size: I'll probably be closer to 15-20 pounds when I'm full grown. I'm around 13 pounds right now. Activity Level: I love to play hard and snuggle hard! Noise Level: I bark to let you know something is happening, when I'm excited, or when I want something. They are short periods or time but I would probably do best with no shared walls. Good with Dogs: I love all dogs! Good with Cats: I don't know what to think about cats. But I co-exist with them just fine. Good with Kids: I love little ones! Good with Strangers: Yep! Potty Trained: I'm a puppy, so I'm still working on it! Crate Trained: Yes Shedding: Minimal Hello, Stacie here! I'm an "older" puppy with a little body and TONS of personality. I was once described as shy before coming to my foster home. But now that I'm settled in you'd never know (and really, I was never that shy. Just a tad less outgoing than my sister Skipper!). I'm fantastic with dogs of all sizes and kids. I live with cats as well. They're weird and sometimes I bark at them. But overall we co-exist well. My favorite activities are playing keep away with my foster siblings (I'm the one who LOVES being chased), snuggling next to my foster mom when she sits on the recliner, and chewing on nylabones! I'm still a puppy so sometimes I forget what is for dogs and what is for humans. But I really prefer nylabones over anything. So if you help redirect me to one, it's an easy swap! I kennel well but will sometimes bark when I first go in or if I see a cat walk past me. I just really need to let it be known that its SO unfair that they get free roam 100% of the time and I don't. Potty training is going well! But with the new cold weather that I'm experiencing, I'm regressing a little. Luckily, I'm super duper smart so I'm sure I'll be 100% potty trained in no time! My perfect home would include humans who love to snuggle, play, and don't mind a little jumping or barking (I'm a young, excitable pup! Can you blame me?). I'm small so my jumping doesn't bother the four year old but babies who are learning to walk may have a different opinion. I would LOVE a dog playmate of any size but I would also do just fine being the center of attention. Stacie is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for their age. About Marshall: Size? Small Activity Level? Active when we take him outside, but he is also a very calm and cuddly dog. Noise Level? He barks at men and other people when walking down the street. Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Yes Good with Strangers? No Potty Trained? Working on it. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? No Hi, my name is Marshall. I am a 2-year-old Male Chihuahua. I am a loyal companion who loves snuggles almost as much as I love food. I love going on walks, but I do not like sudden/loud movements, wet grass, or thunderstorms. It might take a bit for me to warm up to people or other animals in the house because I am a bit territorial so please give me time, especially when meeting men. I also have separation anxiety and may need someone to help me adjust, but once we pass that stage I am the most cuddly, loyal, loving dog you'll ever meet! I am only 2 years old so I get the zoomies quite often and I love to chase, but don't chase me because I'll get scared! I love to play tug-o-war with socks or anything I can hold onto that's not an actual toy. When we go on car rides, I am the best lap passenger. I get super excited when my owner comes home because it means treats and cuddles! Because I'm so young, I am still learning tricks and words. I'm still learning to sit, but I love showing off my dancing skills when I see treats. I am potty trained, but I don't know how to tell you when I need to go outside, I just need to be brought out 4-5 times a day. I would do best in a quiet house with few strangers coming in and out and will be patient with the time it takes for me to acclimate and how vocal I am. If your house is the life of the party on weekends, we might not be a great match. However, I'll be perfect for someone who wants to relax and cuddle, or go out for car rides and walks! Would you like to be my fur-ever family? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello there, my formal name is Lobito but I go by Louie; I like keeping things casual! I am a chihuahua and Pomeranian mix, approximately 2 years old and a tiny guy at 11 pounds. My life changed dramatically when I left the streets of Mexico and arrived in a comfy home in Minnesota. My main goals in life now are to snuggle as much as possible, play with my stuffed toys and monitor what is going on both in the house and outside. I love a good, comfy blanket and will pop right up on the couch when my people are seated. I have mastered a lot of things in my foster home. I sleep well in my kennel and am also good about being in there when my foster family is away. I would much rather sleep in someone's bed or roam the house but my foster family says I should be used to my kennel in case my forever family prefers that. I do get upset if I am in my kennel while someone is home. I don't like to be kept away from the action. I have also mastered going potty outside. I love being outside and checking things out. My fosters have a fenced in yard which is great as it gives me room to run around and explore. That being said, I could adjust to being on a tie-out too. I went through a little transition period when I arrived and had a few accidents but am now doing great! It does take some convincing for me to go out if it is raining though. I keep hearing about this cold snow stuff that is coming soon. Being such a small fella with a light fur coat, I may need a coat to keep me warm out there. I do great walking on the leash, I get very excited when I see the leash come out, I love walking and exploring the neighborhood! I do pull a little bit but I'm not strong enough for it to be excessive. I ride great in the car and I have been to the puppy salon a couple times to get my nails trimmed. I also do well for baths. As long as it's me and my people, I'm a happy guy.  Now that I have you convinced that I am just perfect, let me tell you about some of my struggles. Being a stray in my earlier life has put me on high alert at all times. I may be able to make some improvements with dedicated training but I will likely struggle with being on high alert ongoing. I startle easily at sudden movements or noises. Because of this, I would do best in a home with no young children. My human foster brothers are teenagers and we get along well but younger kids move too quickly for me to process and I get upset. I also am quite protective of my home and my people. When a new person comes to the house, I bark, growl and snap towards them. I am not trying to bite but it's very loud and scary for the new person. My foster family will need to be dedicated to either VERY slow introductions to new people or putting me in a kennel out of sight when new people are at the house. I also react the same way to other dogs when I am in the yard or on a walk. I do live with two dogs currently and get along with them great. I even like playing and snuggling with them, but I have not been able to really get along with other dogs so I probably would do best being the only dog in my forever home. That's a lot about me, I'm excited to get to know you! If you're looking for a sidekick and forever pal, I just might be the guy for you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $495.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 10, 2023, 8:24 pm

Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //
