Story
My name is Clark! I am the cutest little pup. I am only 8 lbs (I know I look big in pictures). I am a Chiweenie mix and likely will be 12 to 15 full grown. I am a sweet and funny guy. I live with two younger children and love them. They can handle me, pick me up and I like to run around with them! I also live with two bigger dogs. I love to snuggle up close to them and follow them around. They are the coolest and also give me something to follow. I am crate trained and probably as expected I am working on my housebreaking. I have used a combo of pads and outside time to do my business. I think I am ready to take it all outdoors though! I am smart. I am a big time cuddler and would love a fun home to call my own! I also ride pretty well in the car! Here is an application if you are interested in me! https://www.zivadogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to NJ for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Jasmine Bailey! Tiny paws, big personality! Jasmine Bailey is a 5-month-old chiweenie cutie weighing just 5½ pounds, but don’t let her size fool you—this little lady has plenty of charm. Born on 7/21/25 right at our rescue (her mama arrived pregnant), Jasmine has been surrounded by love since day one. Jasmine is a happy, curious pup who loves to explore and play. She can be a little shy when meeting new people at first, but give her a moment and she’ll warm up with tail wags and sweetness. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having furry friends—cats, however, are still a bit too spooky for her taste! This smart girl already knows how to use a potty pad and understands going outside too. She’s still practicing her leash skills, but she’s learning and getting better every day. Jasmine Bailey is looking for a forever family who will keep up her training, cheer her on, and give her lots of love. She’s a tiny bundle of joy ready to wiggle her way into your heart! Story
Meet Edna Edna is a 12-year-old, 6-pound Texas native who has been through some things—and would like it noted that she is over it. Formerly homeless, now rescued, she’s entered her well-deserved “tiny, grumpy diva” era.   After seeing the vet, the official diagnosis is: hot mess. Not just any hot mess—a fixable hot mess, but Edna would prefer you not dwell on that. She’s focusing on her narrative. She’s diabetic and requires daily insulin injections (which she considers deeply inconvenient and possibly a personal attack). She doesn’t see or hear very well, so if you startle her, that’s on you. Boundaries matter. She’ll also need to be spayed once her blood sugar decides to cooperate.   Edna can be a little spicy—but honestly, she’s earned it. She’s small, she doesn’t feel great, and yet she still demands to be held like the royalty she clearly is. Her hobbies include judging you silently, burrowing under blankets like a dramatic little burrito, and accepting affection strictly on her terms. Despite her sass, Edna is a champion snuggler and wants nothing more than a warm lap and a human who understands that love sometimes comes with a side of attitude. We’ll keep sharing updates as this tiny icon continues her journey from “hot mess” to “absolute legend.”   If you'd like to apply to adopt Edna, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for her by name - EDNA TX!   April 8, 2026, 12:33 pm

Story
Hi. My name is… well… it depends who you ask. The rescue people called me Gherkin because when they found me in a trailer park in Texas, nobody seemed to know my real name. Apparently I’m small, wrinkly, and a little bit pickled looking. Hence… Gherkin. Turns out my actual name is Junior. But honestly at this point I answer to both. Call me Gherkin. Call me Junior. Call me “Hey buddy.” Just call me to dinner and we’re good. I’m about 8 years old and a very respectable 13 pounds — basically the perfect portable size. Big enough to be a real dog, small enough to fit directly into your lap… which, by the way, is my preferred seating arrangement. A few things about me: • I love people. All of them. Big people, little people, people sitting on couches that clearly need a dog on them. • I am mostly housetrained. Look, I’m trying my best here. We’re all adults. • I’m crate trained, but I will absolutely voice my opinion about it for a minute when you first put me in. • I require a dog friend. Non-negotiable. I am not a solo act. I need a buddy. Think of me as the supportive sidekick in a buddy comedy. • At night I prefer to burrow under the covers like a tiny heat-seeking missile. I was treated for heartworm, but don’t panic — I’m still fully capable of performing my primary job duties: snuggling, following you around the house, and supervising all couch activities. You may have heard about my former trailer-park neighbors: George (aka Nichols) — already adopted, living the high life. Dixie — still looking for her people. And then there’s me, the handsome one. So if you’ve got a friendly dog, a couch, and a bed with room under the covers, I’m ready to move in and start my new career as your full-time shadow and professional snuggler. Apply at www.northstarpets.org And when you fill out the application, make sure you ask for Gherkin… aka Junior… aka the biggest dill you’ll ever meet!March 7, 2026, 1:56 pm

Story
Meet Truly – Your Devoted Little Shadow &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Little Miss Truly was rescued from a shelter in Texas by NorthStar in November, and she has been spreading love ever since. Even at the shelter, she greeted every visitor at the front of her kennel, quietly hoping for a gentle touch or a kind hand to pet her. That affectionate heart is simply who she is. Truly is about 9 years old and weighs just 10 pounds. She is sight-impaired and likely sees only shadows, but she navigates her world with bravery and trust. She has settled nicely into her foster home in New Jersey. The resident cats are curious about her but still keep a respectful distance. She enjoys being outdoors, lifting her nose to the air or burying it in the grass to explore all the wonderful scents around her. Snow was not impressive in her opinion — she prefers to do her business and head right back inside. Rain? She would rather skip it altogether. Truly enjoys slow, leisurely walks on flat surfaces where she knows she won’t trip. Truly is not a lap dog, but she absolutely loves to snuggle right beside you — preferably under a blanket or two. Butt scratches are one of her favorite things! She bonds very deeply with one special person, though she will happily lie near anyone offering affection. When “her person” enters the room, she makes sure to get up and move closer or follow that person around. She manages stairs well after a short adjustment period. Because she only sees shadows, she may bump into things even after she learns her surroundings. If someone bends over her unexpectedly — especially while wearing dark clothing — she may growl or gently “mouth” out of surprise. She has never bitten or closed her mouth on anyone. Simply speaking to her and letting her know you’re approaching helps her feel safe and relaxed.   In her foster home, Truly lives with two cats. In her own way, she has tried to play with them, but they remain a bit cautious—though clearly curious about her. With time and proper introductions, she may be able to coexist peacefully with feline friends. When meeting other dogs, Truly can become excited. She tends to bark, jump around, and sniff as she figures them out, and she is not her usual calm self in those moments. However, her foster has not observed any signs of aggression. Because of this, Truly will need slow, thoughtful introductions to any resident dogs to help her feel comfortable and secure. Truly would love a home where someone works from home or can bring her along during the day. While she can tolerate being alone for reasonable periods, she much prefers the comfort of her people nearby. She does not like being in a crate and would much rather sleep in your bed right beside you. Medically, Truly has been diagnosed with a skin-related autoimmune disease and takes a daily oral medication. She also uses a topical cream on her nose and the pads of her feet. You may notice she has lost most of her claws, which her veterinarian believes is related to the autoimmune condition. She also has luxating patellas in both back legs, which gives her a slightly unusual gait. Additionally, she had two benign mammary tumors removed and now has a clean bill of health. Despite her medical needs, Truly’s spirit is pure love. She is loyal, devoted, and happiest when snuggled close to her person. If you’re looking for a sweet little lady to share your couch, your blankets, and your heart — and to be your absolute best friend — Truly is truly your girl. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 March 14, 2026, 6:16 pm
