Zuke was adopted when he was one from a shelter in upstate NY. He is 12 now. He is very loving, loves cuddles and walks, sleeps a lot and really needs someone who is home most of the time. He would really enjoy a home with a yard. He loves to explore his outdoors and lay in the sun. Unfortunately I am not able to provide what he needs anymore. I am taking care of an elderly sick parent who needs more and more of my time with everyday life and doctor’s appointments. My absence is creating stress for both of us.

Neptune and Peter . Are chi weenies .They are almost 5 years old .They were rescued from a hoarding situation. Neptune is 15 lbs . He is overweight He needs to work on losing some weight. Peter is 6 pounds . They're both very bonded and can't be without each other .Their both males and the bigger one is bonded very much with his brother/friend. They are shy and scared at first but warm up quickly to people. Loud noises scare them big dogs scare them at first but once they meet them they are good. They are good with smaller dogs and cats. They love food!!! They are using pee pads as of night now and they use a doggie door during the day. They're up to date on all their medical neutered and microchipped. The volume of discarded seniors entering NJ’s shelter system is sad and alarming. Pippy is one of our newest arrival. She was curled up in a sad scared cranky ball in the back of her kennel at our local Animal Control facility surrounded by large barking dogs. She’s severely overweight at 18lbs when she should be more like 12, and she gets out of breath easily with even short walks. She was blind in one eye which was painful and uncomfortable due to severe untreated, chronic dry eye as well as glaucoma, so we made the decision with our vet that removal would be the best option to help her feel better. She’s healing nicely and warming up, she’s a chihuahua so can be snarky with strangers and doesn’t like to be bothered when she’s comfy in her bed, but getting a bit happier each day. And she only has bottom teeth remaining after her dental so isn’t particularly scary. Getting gummed to death by an obese one-eyed pirate 🏴‍☠️ Chihuahua isn’t much of a threat. She’s fine with other mellow little dogs and definitely knows her own chihuahua kind, a funny but lovable little personality if you understand chi culture and customs. She’s at least 10 years old and overall in pretty good health now that her untreated eye and dental situation have been taken care of and she’s already lost 2lbs on her diet! Pippy is just the latest in a long line of local seniors we have taken in suffering from chronic painful medical issues that need immediate medical attention to give them a better quality of life. Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. This little beauty is Mama Pita! She is a 2.5 year old female Beagle/Chiweenie mix. She was a wonderful mama to her puppies who have all found there homes. Now it is her turn to find her forever home. She loves to snuggle and wants to be with you at all times. She is such a little lover and she loves to play. She never turns down a good belly rub.
