ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Hickory, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter. I was found as a stray dog. I do have a Cherry Eye which will be fixed by CSAC. You can see that I do have an under bite which makes me look unique. The CSAC volunteer tried to take me for a walk on a leash, but I just sat there. I didn't know what she wanted me to do so I may need more training with that leash thing. The CSAC volunteer said, "Hickory is a very sweet boy. He loved being held. He was giving kisses to everyone who held him. He just wanted to be close to whomever was holding him. He is a very affectionate pup and he stole everyone's heart." Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. The CSAC volunteer said that I am very sweet, calm, friendly and outgoing. I was happy even though it was obvious that I had ear infections that were bothering me. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. Story
Ghengus is an older gentleman that was surrendered to the shelter when his owner could not care for him. He is 11 years old. Ghengus is a special needs boy that is on heart medication due to the beginning stages of heart disease. Ghengus is a good boy and takes his medication well. He has recently had a dental cleaning where he lost 13 teeth that were causing him discomfort and is now feeling much better! He will need someone that is familiar with the Cocker Spaniel breed and familiar with grooming. He would love to find a loving home to spend his golden years in! Ghengus would prefer an adult only home. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/lyme tested, and microchipped. Story
Meet Simba: The 10-Year-Old Cocker Spaniel with a Heart Full of Adventure! Looking for a wise, playful companion who still has the pep of a pup? Meet Simba! This adorable 10-year-old, 35 lb Cocker Spaniel ended up in a shelter through no fault of his own, but that hasn’t stopped him from embracing life with joy and energy. Despite his age, Simba is still spry, jumping up onto the couch and snuggling in for cozy naps. He’s a toy lover, always ready to play, and will happily fetch or toss a squeaky toy around! Simba is an absolute gem with a heart full of love. He gets along well with other dogs and kids (as long as they’re respectful), though he’s not sure about cats yet. He’s fully house and crate trained, so no worries there. He’s also strong on the leash—he’s a dog on a mission! This sweet boy is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and has no known medical concerns. Simba may be ten, but he’s got many happy years ahead, and he’s ready to share them with a loving family. Could that be you? Simba is fostered in Harrisburg, PA. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’ll keep you on your toes with fun and snuggles, apply today! Simba’s motto: Age is just a number, especially when there’s so much love to give! New Oxford PA 17350; LIC # 9736 &#226&#128&#139 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate.
