Story
Shadow is a high drive working breed border collie who needs someone with breed experience (preferred). Fulfillment requirements: She will need more than just an hour long walk a day to meet her physical requirements. She currently bikes, hikes, and loves to swim. She is also well versed in carrying a weighted pack on her hikes, which helps her tune into her body and slow her mind. She's an athletic girl and needs someone to match that lifestyle. Sociability (Dog preferences): Shadow is dog selective. She would be perfectly fine in a home with no other dogs but would also do ok if she found a home with the right dog for her. No little dogs or other small animals though. She doesn't enjoy every dog but enjoys most in the proper introductions are taken. She doesn't enjoy chaos with other dogs but loves to partake in structured pack activities. She is NOT a dog park or high-energy daycare type dog. Training: She's crate trained and sleeps, eats and rests in one daily. She's highly intelligent and learns quickly. She is well versed in basic obedience cues: sit, down, stand, stay, recall, place, middle, and loose leash walking. She does not enjoy being approached, touched or spoken to by strangers but has increased her thresholds for tolerance by quite a lot. She can navigate public spaces with the proper guidance but is probably never going to be a "coffee shop" dog. Shadow's Adoption fee is $250 and includes spay, microchip and current vaccinations. To fill out an adoption application, visit https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SSP-A-844 To follow Shadow on her journey to a loving family on SPOT's Facebook page, visit https://facebook.com/spotsavespets/ and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/spotsavespets/

Story
How this pet arrived: Toby was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on January 5, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Toby! This affectionate boy is happiest spending time with his people and soaking up all the love and attention he can get. According to his previous owner, Toby is "not a big walker" and prefers a mellow, relaxed lifestyle - making him a great match for a calm home where he can simply enjoy being by your side. He likes to approach new people at his own pace, but once he's comfortable, he makes human friends quickly and enjoys companionship. He will thrive best in an household where any children are 10+ and his body language can be understood and respected. Toby has been known to be protective of his favorite items, so he is looking for a home where he can be the only pet and where high-value resources can be carefully managed. He is also not a candidate for dog parks or other off-leash venues, but there are lots of other activities you can do together to strengthen your bond! With the right home, Toby will reward his adopters with loyalty, affection and heartfelt companionship. Ask about adopting him today! At SDHS:Toby has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 65.8 Age: 3yrs 8mths 2wks

How this pet arrived:Mr. Duke was brought in by their previous owner on May 17, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Duke - a handsome gentleman with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Duke is looking for a patient family who will let him open up at his own pace. Once he trusts you, you'll see his fun side shine through - especially when he shows off his favorite tricks like sit, shake, and high five! Mr. Duke has lived around kids before, but because he likes to keep his toys, treats, and special things "his things," any children in the home must be 12 or older and present for the meet and greet. If there is another dog in the home, a dog-to-dog meet-up on campus will be required to help ensure a good fit. This smart boy is full of potential and would thrive in a home that understands slow introductions, respect, and lots of love. Give Duke the time he needs, and you'll gain one loyal best friend for life! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for adoption!Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.
