This eight month old Collie/Lab mix is sweet, smart and playful. We’re absolutely enchanted with his handsome little face and those big, floppy ears. Rhett wants his future family to know that he’s working hard to learn new skills, so he can be the best boy in his new home! He just started leash training and walks pretty calmly. He’s also crate trained and doesn’t mind car rides. The early stages of potty training are going very well. He’s a bit jumpy, but that’s normal and can be easily corrected with training. He just can’t help how excited he is to see you! Rhett dreams of finding a loving family that’s committed to training, daily exercise and positive reinforcement of good behavior. He’s a star student, so we’re confident that training will be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience for him and his family. There are five adorable puppies in our Primrose litter of 10 week old orphans that have just joined our Connecticut Rescue: Claudia, Eliza, Marius, Primrose and Rayne. All the pups in this litter have gentle temperaments and playful, friendly personalities. Despite the chaotic shelter process, these pups have weathered the storm and show no obvious signs of trauma or neglect.  It appears that the pups’ owner unwittingly facilitated an accidental breeding of unaltered adult housemates and then was overwhelmed by puppy love. She offloaded the puppies to a high kill rural North Carolina Shelter, and we were able to transport them to our place in Canterbury, Connecticut.  We have had the puppies DNA tested, and they are a diverse mix of breeds,but 56% of that mix is Collie. The weight range is projected at 40 to 60 pounds, and their working roots suggest that adopters should be prepared to provide a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.  Any of these pups would be an excellent choice for a savvy Working Breed adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. They have taken well to basic puppy Positive Reinforcement training techniques and seem to enjoy the learning process. We seek adopters willing to raise them as Canine Good Citizens.  All of these pups could easily join multi-dog homes with older, playful dogs, tolerant of puppy energy. This includes lots of love, sniffy walks, hikes, doggy playtime (with well matched friends) and can teach her all the fun basic cues that will help her be a perfect angel! Her personality is friendly and sweet. When she looks up at you with those big puppy eyes and floppy ears you`ll instantly melt with love and affection for her. Piper can be a bit selective about what dogs can join her inner circle, so she likely would not be the best fit for a lifestyle that inlcudes doggy daycare or the dog park. Please consider coming by and meeting this very special girl. Meet Chase!First and foremost, Chase is going to need someone with confidence because he has none. Just about five years old, Chase is going through a tough transition right now. He's confused and overwhelmed and he probably never had much confidence to begin with and this situation obviously isn't helping. Chase is a cattle dog/husky mix and he's definitely got the smarts from both breeds. He's a little over 40lbs and he's a very good boy just having a hard time adjusting to his whole world being flipped upside down. He's a big scaredy-cat until he's not, and then he'll lay belly up in your lap like the sensitive baby that he is. He's definitely a worrier but we think a lot of that anxiety comes from losing the person he got direction from and now it's left him with a whole lot of uncertainty. Chase did previously live with kids but right now, he's scared of everything. The wind blowing the wrong way scares him, tennis balls scare him, and the quick movements and loud noises of kids would definitely scare him. He's not super enthusiastic about other dogs but is very non-confrontational and prefers to just avoid unless he absolutely can't. He's scared of cats because of course he is.When Chase is comfortable with you, he's a little fluffy ball of sunshine. He'll be happy and super excited to see you and give you the happiest wiggles. He gives kisses and tail wags, he loves belly rubs, and loves being in someone's lap. He isn't terrible on a leash as far as pulling goes but does tend to get his leash wrapped around your legs and his own legs so he'll need some work. He's got the foundation and he's got the brains, he just needs someone to provide him with structure and much-needed confidence.
