Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
**Coco is a courtesy post and is not located at or affiliated with Paws Crossed Animal Rescue**A note from Coco's caregiver: Seeking a Serene, Rural Home for Coco (Collie/German Shepherd Mix) Coco is a beautiful and smart Sholie (Collie and German Shepherd mix) who will turn two inJuly. She is a healthy, playful, and gentle dog, originally a stray from Georgia. She learns fastand is incredibly intelligent. Pictures of Coco I adopted Coco in October 2025 while volunteering at an animal shelter in Brooklyn, New York. The city environment proved to be profoundly overwhelming for Coco. At the shelter, she "shutdown" after about three weeks, freezing at the door and refusing to walk due to fear. While she has made some progress—she now waits and sits at streetlights—she is still terrifiedof nearly every external city noise, including people opening doors, people walking or talking, birds flying too low, and the sounds of buses, cars, bicycles, or strollers. When frightened, shecannot be comforted by treats or petting and simply rushes home.  Living in the city means she is terrified for much of the time she is awake, and it is heartbreaking to see her constantlyfrightened. Home Life and Needs Indoors: Coco is doing great at home and in the backyard. She will thrive in a housewith kids and other pets and be part of the family's daily activities. Cat Compatibility: She is very friendly with my 10-year-old orange male rescue cat. There have been zero issues between the two. Coco is extremely gentle. Interaction with other dogs: She loves playing with other dogs, she is very gentle, veryplayful. She will thrive in a house with canine siblings. Outdoors: She loves being in the yard and in the park. Temperature Preference: Coco seems to really enjoy cold weather and rolling in thesnow. Health: Coco is up to date with vaccines, chipped, spayed and in very good health. Ibought her a GPS tracker which I will transfer to the new owner. The Ideal EnvironmentI am seeking a long-term home for Coco in a rural area, potentially a farm, where she can thriveaway from city noises. She likes animals and would flourish in a setting where she can bemostly outdoors and around other animals. I am not looking for another shelter or a family in the city. Coco can remain in my current home(a house with a small yard, two blocks from Prospect Park) until the perfect, permanent,a fear-free environment is found. My hope is to find a place where she is not scared half of thetime she is awake. For serious adopters I am willing to travel and meet them halfway so they can get to know Coco. For adoption inquiries contact Gabriela: g.lupulescu@gmail.comApril 14, 2026, 11:38 am

Story
Bobby Joe Around 1–2 years old • 35 lbs Rescued from Dallas Animal Services Currently in foster in Danbury, CT Bobby Joe recently saw Dr. Berg for an evaluation as we thought his back legs were a bit off — but he received a clean bill of health Bobby Joe has definitely come out of his shell in the best ways. He is gentle, sweet, affectionate, spunky, and playful. He does need to be on allergy medication as he has a skin condition, but he is a very happy-go-lucky boy. At just 35 lbs, he’s the perfect medium size. He is crate trained and potty trained. Loves other dogs and is great with cats. Not sure about children. He enjoys walks and leisurely explorations. His person just needs to understand that he can be a little shy at the initial meet — but he warms up very quickly and once he does, he just wants to be snuggled. If interested in adopting Bobby Joe please fill out an application below: https://www.trinafriendsk9rescue.org/new-page
