Story
Meet Kaleb Some dogs come into rescue with a story that stops you in your tracks. Kaleb is one of them. An independent rescuer spotted Kaleb alongside a homeless man and immediately knew something was terribly wrong. His body was infested with fleas, weak, uncomfortable, and barely hanging on. Knowing he needed urgent help, she paid out of her own pocket to get him to safety and reached out to us. What happened next was nothing short of remarkable. Despite the unimaginable pain he must have endured, Kaleb never stopped fighting. Day by day, he allowed his wounds to heal. His fur slowly began to grow back. His strength returned. And through it all, his gentle spirit never disappeared. Today, Kaleb is no longer defined by the condition he arrived in. He is defined by his resilience, his courage, and his incredible capacity to trust again. Kaleb is ready for the chapter he has always deserved: a home where he will never know suffering, uncertainty, or neglect again. A home where his scars are not seen as imperfections, but as proof of just how far he has come. If you're looking for a dog whose gratitude shines through every wag, every cuddle, and every loving glance, Kaleb is waiting to meet you. His story began with heartbreak. We hope his ending is filled with love. All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
Meet Riley!
Riley is a 2-year-old, 55 lb Cattle Dog/Lab mix with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines through her special needs. She has hearing challenges. Despite it all, Riley is active, friendly, and incredibly affectionate. She loves walks, cuddle time, and sticking close to her people and doggy pals.  Riley is a silly, sleepy, lazy, happy, and loving girl. She’s food-motivated (frozen peanut butter Kongs = pure joy!), loves running happy circles in the yard or dog parks, and adores dogs, cats, kids—pretty much everyone. She’s a sucker for chest scratches and cuddling under blankets. She may be deaf, she may hate baths and swimming, but she’s a wonderfully quirky girl who brings so much love. Once Riley finds her “spot,” she sticks to it forever. Riley is house trained, spayed, loves humans and dogs and even puts herself in her crate to nap.  Here is what her foster says about Riley: Riley has learned how to sit, lie down, come and no - by using sign language. Also she loves napping in her crate and sleeps wonderfully there through the night. Low maintenance dog. Sits before eating or receiving treats. It would be wonderful for her to have a doggy sibling to love on.  Riley needs a fenced-in yard and a patient adopter willing to continue training a deaf dog. In return, she’ll give you endless love, loyalty, and joy. If you’re looking for a truly special companion—Riley is your girl. Story
Meet Moby Moby is a 2 year, 8 month old Australian Cattle Dog weighing about 50 lbs. He is a neutered male who is both crate trained, leash trained and house trained, and he knows basic commands like sit and down and comes when called. Moby is a friendly, affectionate dog with new people. He enjoys attention, belly rubs, and is comfortable being pet by neighbors. For this reason, Moby will need an experienced adopter or foster who understands herding breeds and is comfortable continuing behavior work and setting clear boundaries. His breed does best with a fenced yard so his home will need to have one.  Dogs: Selective; does best depending on size Cats: Unknown Children: Unknown Moby would likely thrive in a structured, adult-only home with consistent leadership, breed experience, and a commitment to helping him succeed. With the right environment and guidance, Moby will be a loyal, loving companion.  He desperately needs a foster. He is not doing well in boarding, he has been there for months.    To adopt Moby  please apply at www.peace4paws.org/adoption-application using a laptop or computer        If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG!
