Story
Meet Wilson! Wilson is looking for someone to grow old with.  He is a 9 year-old herding mix ( Border Collie, Cattle Dog, McNab, and a little mystery mixed in), and after spending his entire life with a family who was home with him nearly all the time, he's now searching for a new beginning. He's the kind of dog who doesn't ask for much. A soft bed. A few treats. A predictable routine. Most of all, someone to simply be with. Wilson is housebroken, rides great in the car, and once he trusts you, he's an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion. He'll quietly follow you from room to room, happy just knowing you're nearby. He's not demanding—he just loves being with his people. He can be shy with strangers and needs a little time to warm up, but kindness and patience are rewarded with unwavering loyalty. He'd be happiest as your one and only, though he may do well with calm, respectful dogs. (Cats are unknown.) Wilson could stand to lose a few pounds, so he'd love a family who will enjoy leisurely walks and help him get back into shape. And if you happen to have treats... he'll gladly show you the tricks he knows.  Senior dogs have so much love left to give. Wilson isn't looking for perfection—just someone willing to give him the chance to feel safe, loved, and home again. If you think Wilson might be the companion you've been looking for, please send us a message. And if you can't adopt, sharing his post could help him find the family he deserves. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Meet Willow! The sweetest shadow you’ll ever have! Willow is a gentle, 10 month old girl weighing about 38 pounds. She has a beautiful black coat, with a patch of white on her chest and adorable speckled toes. She’s a calm, loving soul who settles easily into a calm home life and just wants to be close to her person. This little lady is fully crate trained, wonderfully polite, and loves nothing more than curling up on the couch or quietly dozing under your desk while you work from home. Willow can be a bit timid at first, but she warms up quickly and soon becomes your loyal companion. Once she trusts you, she’ll follow you everywhere with her signature, soft, sweet presence. Willow gets along with other calm dogs, enjoys being outdoors, and—being young—would make the perfect adventure buddy for someone who loves exploring. Whether you’re heading out for a weekend hike or simply relaxing at home, Willow is happy as long as she’s by your side. Willow lacks confidence outside and needs a capable handler who can help her feel less anxious in her environment. She needs another dog in the home to help build confidence. Willow would prefer a more calm home with older kids. She is just settling into her foster home and while she is doing well, we know she is still decompressing and trying to adjust to her new situation. When she moves to her forever home, a little patience will help her a lot. If you’re looking for a tenderhearted, easy-going companion who will bring warmth and quiet joy into your life, Willow might just be your girl. Willow is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $525   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Bear is 1/2 rough collie 1/2 golden retriever. He will turn 2 on 9/7 and is one of the best puppies around who thinks he’s a lap dog even though he’s much bigger than your lap. Ideally a single dog/single pet home that has the time to keep up with his energy. He does well on walks and just loves to be the center of attention. He has the best doofus lip when his teeth get stuck on his lip and just wants to be loved. He has been around small kids and babies but he still has the energy and sometimes manners of a puppy. We want him to go to a good home that will take the best care of him. He has an appointment on 7/13 to get neutered. If you’re the lucky winner of this special puppy, we will still cover the cost of it if you take him to the clinic we have him scheduled at in Tacoma.

Story
Welcome Kai to CCPAL Rescue foster program.  Kai is a very sweet girl, she is just about 1 year old. She is a German Shepherd/Smooth Collie (BorderCollie)  She weighs about 60 pounds and should stay medium sized.  She is good on a leash, good with other dogs.  She is mostly with her sister in her foster home.  She uses a doggy door and is good on leash and in a car.  She is fully potty trained and very smart.  She is good with children and likes toys.  She would be best with someone that is active and outdoorsy.  She would be fine as an only dog or would be good with another dog.  She will be a fun one to train.  She has good eye contact and attention to who is speaking with her.  She has one upright ear and one that is not.  She is getting her vaccinations and will be spayed and ready for her forever home.  She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast.  She would be a great family companion and could go with children.  We like children to be 8 or older.  Please be patient when you put in your application. Adoption fee for Kia is $400 and transport is $200.  This is a very desirable breed mix.   We are being very careful in vetting people and we are a small group of volunteers. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Max to CCPAL Rescue. He is a Smooth Coated Collie/Heeler mix is our best guess. He weighs 35 pounds and he loves other dogs. He is very dog friendly with all types of other dogs. He is friendly with the horses and the donkeys in his foster home. He is good on a leash, potty trained and super affectionate. He knows sit and does it very well. He is very attentive and follows direction easily. He knows shake a paw with both paws and is great on a leash. He was an outside dog in his first home and a good Samaritan took him in. He has been with a vet that had PTSD and is sometimes too rough with him. He is very loving to women and also loves men after being at the Rescue for only a week or two. He loves all people and once he knows he is safe bonds deeply and is extremely loyal and devoted companion. He would be great for a hiker, walker, jogger or any one who wants a good companion to take with you. He would be great in a doggy daycare setting as he easily gets along well with all dog personalities. He is vaccinated, healthy, neutered and ready for his forever home. He loves children with open arms and has been around them regularly. This is a WONDERFUL dog and will be a great addition to any family wanting an easy dog to bring in. He would be great for a more novice adopter as he is smart, skilled and follows direction easily. He would be a great dog for a family with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Meet Piper – Your Loyal, Playful Companion! Piper is a 65-pound sweetheart living in Portland, OR, and born ~10/1/2023. With a calm, playful personality and a heart full of love, she’s happiest when she’s near her people—with a toy in her mouth and a smile on her face. She’s affectionate, confident, and friendly with people and can be neutral to social towards animals when properly introduced. Piper does great with cats, most dogs, and even livestock (though chickens may need supervision). She loves playing with familiar dog friends, and while she’s still learning how to manage her excitement on leash, she’s making great progress. Strange dogs can cause some leash reactivity to resurface. Piper is house-trained, not destructive, and enjoys car rides, swimming, and outdoor adventures. She’s food-motivated, knows basic commands, and is working on her leash manners. She gives the best welcome-home hugs—standing on her back legs to nuzzle your face like she missed you all day. Her ideal home? A calm environment with someone home most of the time, maybe with another dog and room to roam. She’d thrive with an outdoorsy person or couple who’ll take her hiking or swimming. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key adventure buddy with a heart of gold, Piper is ready to be your new best friend.
