Hi there! My name’s Nick—yes, like “Saint Nick,” though I am more tail wags than toy bags. I am about 20-25 pounds of love, fluff, and mystery lineage. Think labrador charm with the build of a corgi on casual Friday. Me and my brother Skipper were recently surrendered to the pound by our previous owner. The people here at Central Arizona Animal Rescue do not know why they did that to us. I am learning how to get along without my brother and to tell the truth, it is a little scary without him, but if I am ever going to find a cozy corner in someone's heart to call my own I will need to do that by myself. Here is the thing: I did not grow up around many people, so I am what they call “a little shy.” But give me a minute (and maybe a piece of cheese?), and I will be following you around like we have been besties since belly rubs were invented. Cameras freak me out—I know, I know, I am cute, but I prefer to be admired in real life rather so I made it hard for the folks here to get really great photos of me. A few facts about me: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped—basically ready for a lifetime commitment I get along well with other dogs so if you have another dog that would be awesome! House-trained? Probably but I might need a little refresher training when I get to my new home. You might ask, what about cats? Well, that is unknown territory, but I am open to negotiations. My previous owners did not leave any clues and there are none here at the rescue to really be able to find out with. We got prawn from A Mom And Pups Animal Shelter, he is 9 months turning 10 months in October. He is a Corgi and Heeler mix.I’m looking for someone that hopefully can give him as much love and attention as he deserves. With my new job I am gone for too long so hopefully his new parents will work from home or has a more flexible schedule. Sweet little Gwen, at only 1 1/2, was set to be euthanized for being scared. This sweet Corgi mix is a perfect size at about 27 lbs. Slowly, with patience, she is blossoming into a joyful and confident girl. Despite her great fear, she has shown no aggression. The grass she was afraid to walk on is now her playground. She has learned to use the doggy door and comes and goes outside all through the day. She needs a bit of time when experiencing something new but amazes us at how fast she learns. She is house-trained and walks well on a leash. She struggled at first in the kennel alone, but does well now. Gwen will bark when new people come over, but warms up quickly. She has gotten along well with the 18 pound terrier and 50 pound doodle she lives with. She has not been around cats, but doesn't react to them on walks. She would love another dog in her new home, but would be fine as an only dog. The greatest desire she has is to be loved and to be with her family. She is a wonderful mix of playfulness and a couch potato. She would prefer a home where she can snuggle next to you on the couch. Bailey will thrive in a home that understands she is still young and needing more training. She still gets nervous and needs someone who will work with her. She is as sweet and fun as they come and will make an incredible companion.
