Story
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix Age: Senior Male, neutered 20 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Llew was picked up by animal control off the streets of Hayward. He was unable to use his back legs. Otherwise he seemed in fairly good shape. He must not have been on the streets for long. It is suspected that he had a back problem (IVDD) that was never treated. He has responded well to anti-inflammatory and pain medications. He has gained some use of his back legs (he can stand and walk a few steps). He has been in physical therapy for a few months. UPDATE: With diligent persistence from his foster home, Llew is walking again on his back legs. He is a little wobbly, but he is using his back legs all the time - no more dragging. For all he has been through, he has an excellent demeanor - very friendly, very loving. He can come off as a little “pushy” to some dogs, but overall he gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home. He needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. He would prefer a home with another friendly dog. Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs is willing to assist with his vet costs, if needed. Even though he has regained the ability to walk with his hind legs, the jury is still out on whether he has control of his bladder and bowels. He appears to pee when he goes outside, but he doesn't stop and pee. Similarly, he doesn't stop and poop - it just comes out when it is ready. Story
Chewie is a 4 year old Corgi-Poo, born on 4/3/21. Chewie has many nicknames, which include chooch, chucho, and chicharrón, hehe. Chewie is potty trained and listens to commands when offered treats. Chewie is crate trained, and lately has been territorial towards food is his crate. Chewie is a great guard dog, but he does tend to bark. Chewie loves to be outdoors and loves taking naps. Chewie is great with kids, loves to play, and get his hair brushed. We are, unfortunately, not able to keep him due to an unexpected change in our family, and we do not have dedicated time that Chewie deserves. We hope someone will be able to adopt our Chewie

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $650   Mrs. Doubtfire is a 5 year old Papillon x Corgi ready to make your life complete! Doubtfire was rescued from Central Valley by one of our hardworking rescue partners When we saw all 18 pounds of her fluffy, adorable body matched with her perfect face, we fell instantly in love! This gal will waddle her way into your arms and you will never let her go, so come and meet our gal today!      Mrs. Doubtfire is without a doubt the sweetest gal in the entire world. She immediately made herself at home in her foster house, excitedly sniffing around the house before rolling onto her back for belly rubs. Her tail is always wagging and she loves giving and getting cuddles. She is bursting with love and is just such a joy to be around. She takes life with a glimmer of sunshine and wants nothing more than adventures and cuddles by your side for the rest of your days. She’s also the perfect blend of energy. When you want to explore, she’s ready to go but she’s also happy to curl up on the couch at the end of a long day. Her paw-ty trick? Like her namesake, she tries her hardest to be helpful around the house with chores. In fact, leave a basket of laundry laying around and she will make it her new bed. She’s creative like that! If you’ve been looking for love, you’ve met your happily ever after! Mrs Doubtfire starts her morning around 7:15 AM with a quick walk followed by her morning meal. She hangs out in the house while her foster humans get their days started and then goes on a longer walk around 10 AM. During the workday, she hangs out where she can see her humans as they work on their computers. She goes out for another walk in the evening followed by her evening meal. She goes to bed around 11 PM.  Mrs. Doubtfire has lived with dogs previously and gets along well with them. She is working on some slight separation anxiety so her forever home should be prepared for continued training. Doubtfire is wonderful with children. She’s loving and gentle, just wants belly rubs from children and all humans. She is house trained and crate trained. We can’t wait for Mrs Doubtfire to clock into life as your new best friend!      Mrs. Doubtfire is an option for just about any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.April 13, 2025, 5:42 pm

Corgi Border Collie

Story
To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/9/11/eli Per DNA test, Eli is a mixed breed with a bit of everything! Corgi, Basset Hound, Boston Terrier, Border Collie. He is neutered, vaccinated, and weighs 46lbs! Eli was adopted through HFP as a puppy in January of 2021 but is now in need of a new home. We know in the right environment he will THRIVE and be an amazing companion to a lucky person! Here is what his adopters have to say about Eli: Why is the dog being given up?: Eli has resource guarding issues with the other dog in the home. Eli is actually a very good dog in other ways! He's very affectionate, loyal, and playful. He is very energetic and wants to please. An ideal situation for him would be to live in a home with one or two adults who love constant companionship with their pooch. It's very hard to let Eli go. If my husband and I didn't have grandchildren or 6 grand-dogs we wouldn't be in this situation. Eli really is a loving dog! He deserves the best! First off, Eli is a house dog. He loves toys (but can’t have them with another dog in the house because of his resource guarding issues) :( He loves to sit with his person and watch tv at night and will follow you around the house. He will become your best friend. Eli has never been aggressive with people Does the dog get along with: Eli is dog selective. He lives with our other dog and gets along with one of our daughter's two male dogs and another daughter's female dog as long as food or toys aren't present. He doesn't get along with our third daughter's 2 male dogs. He gets along with our neighbor's standard (female) poodle. He had gone to dog parks before the pandemic and was fine. He has a huge backyard that he plays in with our husky. He was doing great on the leash before the pandemic but now his exercise is running around in the backyard. Does your dog have handling sensitivities? How is your dog meeting strangers?: Eli LOVES people Does the dog like children?: Yes ( but recommend a home without children) Are there children in the home?: No Where does the dog sleep?: In the master bedroom on a dog bed Is the dog allowed on your furniture?: Yes Is the dog crate trained?: No Where do you keep your dog: in a spare bedroom with the tv on and door closed. We never leave him more than a few hours at a time. He hangs out with us where ever we are in the house and sleeps in our bedroom at night. How does the dog react to being left alone?: He whines a bit at first but settles pretty quickly Please list any particular fears your dog has.: None Describe any training the dog has, tricks it knows, and any experience with a trainer.: He has had two trainers. He sits on command, is getting pretty good at "stay.” He's pretty obedient but needs more leash training. Does the dog have any known health problems?: No Does the dog like riding in the car?: Yes What does the dog like?: ATTENTION!!! He loves to just be with his person. He's very affectionate! He would be so happy living with someone who worked from home or perhaps a retiree. He's very loyal! What does the dog dislike?: Competition from other dogs Does the dog jump kiddie gates or fences?: No Is the dog a digger?: No Is there anything else you can share that is special, unusual, or endearing about your dog that will help the new owners?: His looks! He is such a unique mix! People always smile or laugh when they look at him. They (and we) think he's very cute! He has a Border Collie/Staffordshire Terrier head and short Corgi/Basset Hound legs. He loves giving kisses! Please describe a typical day for your dog during the workweek: He gets up when we get up, usually around 7:00 am. He goes out to do his business then gets fed. He goes out in our (big!) backyard to run around and sniff a few times a day. He eats dinner at 3:00 and hangs around with us watching tv at night. He love to fall asleep next to his person on the sofa or in a chair on his person's lap. He goes out to do his business around 10:00 pm then goes to bed. He would love to sleep with his person on their bed but we don't allow it. Please provide a summary of the “ideal” home for your dog:: A loving home with no other pets and no children would be best! Eli would thrive in a home where his person/people didn't get out much or worked from home. He's very loyal! Rehoming Fee $100 Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3.
