Story
We adopted Shady from the Everman Animal Shelter about 7 years ago, making her about 9 now. She has been such a wonderful part of our family, but we’re living internationally now, and after trying to make it work, we felt that it wasn’t fair for her to be moving around all the time. She loves to stay at home! She’s extremely gentle, loving, and calm. We’ve had no problems with her and our daughter (now a toddler) since she was born, but I can tell that other little kids stress her out. She can be territorial over her things and spaces, making her an ideal guard dog, but not comfortable around other pets. As she is an older dog there are some habits that she’s had a tough time kicking, mainly barking when someone gets to the house, but I’m sure someone that’s better at dog training could help her get past that! She’s very smart and trainable and she loves to learn new things. We love this girl so much and she has been the best pet! Anyone would be lucky to take her home.

Story
**Meet Duke Riley** Duke Riley is a young Corgi with a big personality packed into his 26-pound frame. Born in November 2024, this handsome little guy is still very much a puppy, which means he's curious, playful, and always ready to see what adventure comes next. Duke came to NTASR after his previous owner made the difficult decision to surrender him. He had originally been purchased from a backyard breeder, but his owner realized that working 12-hour shifts wasn't fair to a young dog who deserved more time, attention, and companionship. Since arriving in rescue, Duke has been settling into his next chapter and looking for a family that can give him the active, engaged life every young Corgi deserves. He does well with other dogs and has previously lived around children. According to his former owner, Duke's only real nemesis appears to be geese and ducks. Whether he's protecting the neighborhood from suspicious waterfowl or simply voicing his opinions, Duke takes his bird-monitoring duties very seriously. Like many young dogs, Duke is still learning about the world and will benefit from continued training, structure, and plenty of positive experiences. With his age, intelligence, and eagerness to be involved in whatever his people are doing, he's a great candidate for a family ready to invest in a fun young companion. Duke is current on his veterinary care and will complete his neuter surgery through NTASR. After that, he'll be ready to waddle his way into a forever home. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick with short legs, a big heart, and strong opinions about geese, Duke Riley may be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Norma — Your Laid-Back Little Lady 🐾 Norma is a sweet senior Corgi queen who has officially retired from the hustle and bustle of life. These days, she’s all about the simple joys: a cozy bed, a sunny nap spot, and a human nearby to keep her company. This adorable girl has mastered the art of relaxing. Whether she’s lounging on the couch, quietly supervising your daily routine, or enjoying short, leisurely strolls, Norma is happiest when life moves at her pace — calm, gentle, and easy. She has soulful eyes and a peaceful presence that makes a house feel instantly more like home. Norma does well with dogs, cats, and kids, and would thrive in a quiet environment where routines are predictable and respectful of her space. Like many seniors, she appreciates patience around food and personal belongings, and she communicates her boundaries clearly. At around 8 years old and 21 pounds, Norma isn’t looking for adventure — she’s looking for comfort, kindness, and someone to share life’s quieter moments with. If you’re searching for a loyal companion for movie nights, slow mornings, and peaceful afternoons, Norma is ready to be your girl. Give this golden-hearted senior the soft landing she deserves.
