***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.
Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees.
The evil for these amazing souls is never ending. Beautiful Casey’s, mind body & soul was being used as a breeding machine in a puppy mill in Missouri to make money off her back. We were able to bid on her & in fact bought her to stop having a life of misery over & over again for evil human beings to make money off her. Living her life outside in the stinking heat day after day then in the freezing cold in winter time in a metal tin can of a shed was over. Her life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. On this day we rescued a total of 21 breeding mum & dads who all they knew was to breed in a life of hell & then being sold.
What was even maddening & so damn sad with Casey was she had a meniscal & ACL tear & was still being used to breed & treated so poorly.
Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Casey how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home.
Casey was bought back to the WA state where she is now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home.
The pain & sheer horror she endured on her little body & mind all to make money off her back is so disgusting. After everything she has been through she is still a lovely soul. She is beyond grateful to get out of that hell hole she was in & radiates gratitude.
Instantly once we got Casey into our care we knew she was injured & needed to go to our vets. At first our vets weren’t sure but were going to put Casey under anesthesia to spay her by laser, receive a hernia repair & take x-rays of her right hind leg as she partially only wanted to use her leg. Mind you though she was still so very sweet & grateful. She was instantly on cage rest in our vets care & once she went under, it was determined she had a meniscal & ACL tear. She at first thought she may need a TPLO surgery but our vets suggested that Casey stay on cage rest & once she leaves their care until specified she could start walking around. Casey was in 2 foster homes & is still currently in her loving foster home & in both foster homes she was resting comfortably with hardly no activity until she was just given the go ahead to start walking on her leg & in the backyard. She has not been on walks since recovering from her injury & it absolutely must be kept in mind with Casey & her activity to not re injure her leg. She will not be a dog who goes on runs but is a normal happy healing girl who has been given the go ahead from our vets to find her loving forever home. Please keep in mind when applying for Casey she is still healing as we have no idea how long this beautiful girl was injured & left this way.
Casey’s foster mum said: Casey is an absolute sweetheart & snugglebug. She is a major fan of cuddles & pets and she wants A LOT of them. I think she is trying to make up for the deficit of love & attention she had for those three years at a puppy mill with cuddles now. This girl wants belly rubs, head scratches and will get into your lap if she can! She does seem sensitive near her rear end, so no thank you to butt scratches. Expect one paw to reach out to you if you stop petting her & she wants more.
She is very friendly to all people she meets & instantly wants to give them & get affection from them. She has met a few dog knowledgeable children & been receptive to them. However, she hasn't lived with children or been around young children.
Casey is a bit of a couch potato and is more interested in being near her foster mom than running around. She enjoys squeaky toys and her nyla bone. This is her first time in a home & is learning about what being a loved pet means. She loves her soft squishy & bed & blankets & also being up on the couch cuddling. Because of her ACL tear, I was too afraid of her trying to jump off of my bed so she sleeps on a dog bed in my room at night. She is used to being carried down the steps to my house because of the ACL tear, so stairs & still something she hasn't experienced.
Care will have to be taken so she doesn't reinjure her ACL. Due to her ACL tear she hasn't been on walks and instead has had lots of outside in my yard, which she enjoys. A nap in the sun is splendid. She is used to wearing a slip lead but is not leash trained. She is not a fan of the rain & does not enjoy getting wet. However, when EmmyLou was walking around the yard in the rain she would follow her, so she may adjust.
She gets along well with my dog but does have a few minor jealousy issues. She really wants to be the center of my attention. I believe she would be best placed in a home without a dog if she goes to a single person as she does want to be the star of the show. Or if she goes to a home with another dog, I think she will do well, if there is a slow introduction and multiple people in the household to provide more love & attention all around. That being said, she does enjoy watching EmmyLou & has learned a lot from her about how to dog - like how to play with stuffed animals & squeaky toys. She sees EmmyLou play with the ball & thinks it is neat but she doesn't understand the whole fetch thing. She is very curious about other dogs & will excitedly watch my neighbors dogs as well through the fence.
Her potty training is going well but will still need to be reinforced. She does have a habit of chewing & tearing up rubbery things, like a ball or a flip flop & has attempted to chew on cords. Additional training & doggy proofing will be needed. When I leave the house, I place her in my bedroom (a safe room for her) instead of letting her have run of the house as she does like to chew on things. She is very food motivated and smart, so she would do well with learning tricks and continued training. As she is adjusting to living in a house, sometimes house noises spook her but that is part of her being in a new environment.
She will make a great & loving member of a family & will look at you with such love in those sweet brown eyes. She charms everyone she meets with her sweetness.
She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until she was rescued.
She is such a lovely little lady who just wants to be loved & to make up for her past.
She would still need work walking on her harness & leash because we have been teaching her to walk on a slip lead as it’s all completely new to her considering she was never ever taught until coming into the rescue.
Casey rides beautifully in the car & considering the only times we know of was when she went to auction to be sold & when we got her & going home with her foster mum & back & forth to the vets & she has done so amazing in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. She spent her whole life confined for breeding. Casey as you can imagine spent such a long time in a caged environment. Then to top it off she had to have cage rest while she has been healing & has had enough. We are also looking for a forever home for Casey where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them.
Casey is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her.
Casey has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in her foster home & she is currently with another dog. In Casey’s forever home they must have a fully fenced backyard.
Casey is roughly 25.2 lbs & she is 3 years old. She has put on weight since being in her foster home. She is a cardigan corgi, what she is mixed with we are not sure, female, she is spayed by laser by our wonderful vets. She is microchipped, she had a dental scale & polish along with dental x-rays. She had hernia repair surgery & x-rays, meds, rest for a meniscal & ligament injury which she is still recovering from & will need to be taken into consideration when applying for Casey but is healing nicely. We are looking for a quiet home for Casey as not re injury her leg or derail her progress & cause her to need surgery on her leg. A fecal was also taken with Casey & worms were present but she was treated. She is up to date on her shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed.
We have spent far more on Casey with paying for her from a puppy mill auction in Missouri. Bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA etc & bringing her to WA than her adoption fee comes close to covering. Her adoption fee does not even cover half of what we have spent on Casey.
Casey has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had her around small children but experienced children with her foster mum so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats.
We were not there when Casey was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is.
As with all of our rescues & Casey’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Casey potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.
We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Casey & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Casey who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this special sweet little lady.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
Casey has an adoption fee of $1585 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
