Story
Sheldon is a four and a half year old mix breed, possibly Yorkie and Dachshund. We started him on a weight management diet ( he's a bit pudgy at 20 lbs). In his heart, Sheldon is a sweet, loving little guy. Regretfully, something in his past, of which we know almost nothing, has made him distrustful and snappish. What we do know of his past, he was surrendered by his owner at three and a half years of age with raw feet and large spots of missing hair on his back from an untreated flea infestation. The fleas are long gone and the hair has grown back, gaining his trust has been another story. After several months in a foster home he has come to adore his foster mom. She is allowed to do just about anything, even baths! For nails he goes to a groomer and really doesn't put up a fuss. He is normally fine with his foster dad, but less trustful and has bit him, nothing horrible, more of a warning. Sheldon gets along OK with the resident dog. He would, however, would probably prefer being an only pet. We know it's a long shot but Sheldon needs a home of his very own. We feel he'd do well with an experienced dog owner, someone who is loving, compassionate and would allow as much time as necessary to gain his trust. Sheldon has been OK with adult visitors. He will bark at them until they sit down, then he'll approach for pets. We do not trust him around children. He's put in a room with a gate when kids visit. When no one is home he's happy in his crate with a special treat. He will bark to alert you if he hears something. Therefore an apartment or condo would not be a suitable living arrangement. Sheldon loves to go outside to chase the squirrels, sniff around for other critters and he likes you to stay out with him. He does not like the rain or the snow. He enjoys being brushed and then rolling around on the floor to mess it all up again. He lives to sit in your lap so you can gently rub his ears. If you think you might be interested in adopting Sheldon, please take the time to fill out an application. Sheldon is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped & current on heartworm & flea preventatives. Sheldon’s adoption fee is $350. If you are interested in adopting, then please go to heathersfosterdogs.org. Click on Adoption Application. Submit your completed application, which will serve as the basis for a conversation, & you will be contacted. Meetings are by appointment only with a reviewed adoption application. We are located in the south suburbs of Chicago and serve the Chicago metropolitan area. We do not ship dogs.

Story
Daisy and Donut are 2 yrs old. The perfect age as they are all grown out of the puppy stages. They are both housebroken and just the sweetest lovable dogs. They are current on all vaccinations and preventatives and have been spayed and neutered. Daisy is a little more high energy but not excessive. She is wonderful especially if she has a chewy bone or toy. Not destructive, she just likes something to chew on. Donut is lower energy but still loves to chase a ball and play with his sibling. They both know sit and will shake when asked as well. Leash and kennel trained and will sleep in their kennel 8-9 hours with no problems. They are great dogs and their family does not want to give them up but they have had a coupled unexpected deaths in the family and unforeseen circumstances that make it unfair for these two as far as time and space. Their current family would love for them to go together and the adoption fees can be adjusted accordingly if we can find a spot together for them both. We will consider single applications if we can’t find a home together. Once adopted Daisy and Donut will will travel via private transport (transport cost is $165.00) to a location closest to you. If you would like to make this family of two part of your life and home please follow the link below to our application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Meet Trixie Tang. She is a sweet little pup who was brought into a local animal control as a stray with her brother. They were found in the middle of the country all on their own. They were not reclaimed during their hold with animal control, and due to space needed to be moved quickly, so we jumped in to help. Both pups will likely mature at the small side of medium, and were born some time in the beginning of May (let's say, around May 6th based on teeth/aging). They are playful and friendly but Doug can be more shy than his sister, Trixie. Their adoption fee is $399 and includes their age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, and fecal testing. If you are interested in starting the adoption process, email helpsavepetsapps@gmail.com or visit Downers Grove Animal Care Center

Story
Lunch will be at our Adoption Center as of Friday, October 25th. You can visit our Adoption Center at any time during open hours, no appointment needed. Fill out our quick adoption survey on our website before visiting to streamline the process. Lunch is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Lunch is still receiving her core puppy vaccine series and will need one additional vaccine after adoption to reach full immunization Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Lunch: Housebroken: Working on it! She has done best when taken out every 2 hours, but can still have accidents and will need to keep working on this Crate trained: She has been doing well overall in a large crate with an attached playpen, with her sister Dinner. She has done well overnight and when home alone for up to 2 hours so far, after taking a short time to settle. Leash walking: Doing well so far! Dog social: She lives with her sister Dinner and a resident dog in her foster home and has been doing well! Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: She has done well in meeting a toddler Lunch has no known medical needs beyond routine wellness care Lunch likes: - Snuggling with you - Playing with a dog pal, or a good chew toy - Learning new things in exchange for tasty snacks Lunch a sweet and cuddly little lady! She's always ready to curl up on your lap ready for a good cuddle session. She's also very smart and treat motivated so she will do really well with training (she already knows that as soon as she goes potty outside, she'll get a treat!). She loves to play with other dogs, and has also been very sweet in meeting a young child. She will need a little help to keep working on housebreaking, but has been making good progress already. Lunch will do best with an adopter who is ready for all the stages that puppyhood and being an adolescent brings. OTAT requires that all dogs 6 months and under be enrolled in a positive reinforcement training program within 2 weeks of their adoption at their adopter's expense. Lunch's adoption fee is $350, and this sweet girl is eager to curl up on her human's lap! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ * Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org *

Up to date on vaccines: Lunch is still receiving her core puppy vaccine series and will need one additional vaccine after adoption to reach full immunization Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Dinner: Housebroken: Working on it! She will need to keep working on learning to potty outside with positive reinforcement and a consistent routine. Crate trained: She has been doing well overall in a large crate with an attached playpen, with her sister Lunch. She has done well overnight and when home alone for up to 2 hours so far, after taking a short time to settle. Leash walking: Still learning! She needs to keep building confidence, and seems to like having another confident dog around to show her ropes Dog social: She lives with her sister Lunch and a resident dog in her foster home and has been doing well! Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: She has done well in meeting a toddler Dinner has no known medical needs beyond routine wellness care Dinner likes: - Playing with her sister or her toys - Giving you kisses - Being told how cute she is! Dinner is very sweet and the queen of giving kisses! She's a clumsy, goofy girl with a very playful and lovable personality. She loves chewing on toys (and anything else she can get ahold of) and would probably do great with another dog to keep her company. She is still working to get comfortable going potty outside and walking on a leash, and will need to keep working on these. Dinner will do best with an adopter who is ready for all the stages that puppyhood and being an adolescent brings. OTAT requires that all dogs 6 months and under be enrolled in a positive reinforcement training program within 2 weeks of their adoption at their adopter's expense.
