Story
Hello! My name is Midnight and I am 7 years young. I weigh 18# and I am a Doxie mixed with Pomeranian. I have the Doxie body and Pom poof. It's hard to tell by my pictures but I'm all black except a little bit of brindle on my legs. I'm quite the unique Beauty. My original Human went to Heaven and authorities think I was with her for a short time. They can tell because sadly, when I was left alone, I didn't miss many meals. Even though the vet I go to now says "Midnight, you need to lose weight". Rude, huh? I wouldn't say I'm fat. I think I'm chubby or robust but the vet is right - I should lose a couple pounds. Maybe we can be walking buddies. So, authorities brought me to a shelter and Treasured Animal Rescue helps little dogs like me. They said we are going to look for a perfect home for me. Right now, I am in a foster home that has another little dog like me. He barks at me sometimes and that's ok. I just don't like when a lot of dogs are barking or super busy. I rather find myself a quiet spot to hang out. Because my foster home is mostly quiet, I like to lay on the back of the couch. You wouldn't think but my little legs can get up there. I feel so much taller and I can see out the windows and watch the birds & squirrels. I am a good little girl and I'm house trained. I don't tell you when I have to do my business, I just wait for you to take me outside. My foster family thinks my next home should have a fenced yard. Even though my foster home doesn't have one I can be a bit sneaky and can get out of my harness. So, unless you like to walk really fast to get me it's best I have a fenced yard. I've been around cats and other dogs. Cats I just ignore. Other dogs I am ok with. I prefer other dogs that are about my age and don't move around so much. You know, a couch potato like me. I know my original Mom is looking down from Heaven and making sure I am ok. I try to look up in the sky and tell her I am ok. I was really sad when I was left alone but I have so many people who are helping me I trust they are going to be sure I can be a good companion for another "mature" lady or man. Would you like to come meet me? What you need to do is fill out an adoption application and then my Rescuers can set up a play date. Thanks for reading my profile. I hope to meet you soon. Midnight Midnight is located in our foster home in Downers Grove. Please apply at: https://treasuredanimalrescueinc.org/application-dog-adoption/ Sorry, Treasured Animal Rescue does not adopt out of the State of Illinois Thank you for choosing to adopt!

My Requirements:-Must be only pet-Kids 10 years or olderHi, I'm Acorn and I've got a ton of personality in my little dachshund body! I've been living the high life in a foster home and they have lots to say about me:"Acorn is super sweet and loving- he gives kisses like crazy. He LOVES to cuddle with his humans. He's very smart and trainable, and does well when left alone. Acorn loves toys and chewing bones keeps him occupied. He's fully potty trained!"Sounds like I'm an affectionate little guy with people! You've heard the best about me, now here's the rest: I need to be your only pet because I do not like other animals. I love the sound of my own voice and will bark, if you have shared walls, I might not be the dog for you. Any kids in my new home should be 10 years or older. I would be an amazing backyard dog if you have a fenced in yard, but it's not a requirement. Take a chance on me, I'm an amazing little companion!

Story
Meet Sara, the happiest little lady! Sara is a 4 year old, 26 pound Dachshund mix. Sara loves people and is very happy to meet new friends. She's very patient and does great with older respectful kids! She's pretty indifferent to other dogs - humans are more her jam. She has decided that she requires a minimum of 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted belly rubs in the morning, and who are we to tell her no?! She's so snuggly and sweet, you'll surely agree with us. She loves attention and makes sure her foster mom knows it, especially when her foster mom is on conference calls :) Sara has bilateral hip dysplasia that has permanently affected her knees and ankles with arthritis. She will require lifelong pain management. Luckily, we've been working on finding the right combination to make sure she is happy and comfy, and she is doing very well! We will surely pass this medication and supplement regimen along to her forever family so she can continue to thrive. Sara loves to go for short walks and she is fully potty trained! She also loves to roll around on the couch with her stuffy toys and she loves to be sung to so, if you've been looking for an audience for your solo karaoke parties, Sara is your girl. If ADORABLE looks could kill, we'd all be in trouble. Sara's eyebrows are on point, her pretty puppy dog eyes are the cutest, and her bottom teefers peeking out at you will make your heart melt. Sarah will need a forever home without stairs. Her perfect forever family will be prepared to give her lots of care and attention, and spend a lot of time with her. She's the best mix of cuddles, chill, and playful sass. Her foster family describes her as a dream dog

Story
Rusty is part of the most precious pair of bonded pups. He is a 3.5 year old, 10 pound, Long Haired Miniature Dachshund. Rusty's beloved other half is Zippy and they are a bonded pair who will need to be adopted together! Aside from Zippy, Rusty isn't a fan of other animals, so this duo is looking for a forever home where they will be the kings of the castle. Rusty is also not a good fit for a house with children since he is possessive of his things! He is a very affectionate, cuddly and quiet little guy. He's eager to meet new people and loves going for walks! He is crate trained and almost fully potty trained. He loves to sunbathe and snooze (who doesn't?!) :) If you are ready to open your home to one of the cutest little pairs you'll ever see, please apply to meet Rusty and Zippy! Rusty's adoption fee is $300.

Story
Spain! Just look at this little Dachshund lady! Spain is 6 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. Spain is a calm, submissive, girl with an agreeable personality! She does fine with other dogs and is a champion napper. She's working on things like walking on a leash and basic commands. She's doing well with free roam and has been holding it over night but is still working on potty training! Spain is looking for a patient family and a quieter home since she's easily startled. She's working on her confidence, but she's still unsure about many things and hopes her adopters will give her space and time to get the hang of things! She would do best with a fenced yard and would be fine with dog companions! Spain loves belly rubs and pets once she gets to know you, and she will quickly become your shadow once she warms up. She loves to cuddle up next to her person on the couch or at their feet. She will be an amazing companion for her forever family! Apply to meet Spain today! Spain's adoption fee is $600.

Story
Skipper - Male Dachshund (Dapple color) 8 years old Current weight 10lbs (Due to his size we are recommending no small children) Meet Skipper (his foster mom calls him Kip). Poor little guy was found by animal control all alone in Alabama that no one came to claim. (This is typical when pets get older to just be abandoned). Lucky for him the angels at the shelter took him in, then a wonderful foster stepped up and he got to come to Illinois in hopes of finding his forever home. Kip is a pretty laid back guy who loves everyone!!!! He’s house trained, crate trained, and walks very nicely on a leash. His favorite things however are cuddling, getting attention and giving kisses. He is very low maintenance. If Kip sounds like the perfect fit for your home, please visit the rescue website www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org for requirements, process and applications. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $400.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. First time puppy/dog adopters will be required to sign up for and pay in advance a basic training class. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Medical included is as follows: Spay/Neuter (age appropriate) *Forever Home uses Fox Valley Animal Welfare League in Aurora, IL Age appropriate core vaccines Fecal testing and deworming Flea and tick preventative Free 1st Vet visit at one of our participating vets Microchipping Forever Home Dog Rescue reserves the right to deny any applicant.
