FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60619 ESTIMATED DOB: 2015 WEIGHT: 21lbs KIDS: Older DOGS: Yes CATS: Some HISTORY: Reese came to us from an animal control facility. She was surrendered because her owner had too many animals. ABOUT: Reese’s foster mom describes her as smart, sweet, adaptable, laid back, and a little stubborn. She enjoys attention, but isn’t demanding of it. Her foster thinks she might get more into snuggling an attention if there were not other animals around. Reese is excellent with the other dogs, she just might be a bit more interested in attention if she didn’t have to wait in line. Reese’s foster said she is a very good girl who adapted to the routine of her foster home very quickly and just goes with the flow. Reese is not very vocal. She doesn’t bark at the neighbors nor whine to get your attention. Reese is not crated when her foster is not home, but she is gated into a certain room of the home. She does just fine until her foster mom returns. Reese will ask to go outside with a little bark and throwing her head back and forth, but if you aren’t speedy enough she will have an accident. She has also used the available pads a few times. In general, she loves to spend time outside on nice days, but absolutely hates the rain. Reese does well on leash and is good in the car. Reese is being fostered with a cat, but she occasionally likes to run and bark at her, so she would do best with confident cats. Reese is being fostered with other small dogs and gets along very well with everyone, although she mostly chooses to keep to herself. She does prefer that they not interfere with her dining experience, but who doesn’t! Unfortunately Reese doesn’t extend the same courtesy to her friend and will happily help herself to their food if they aren’t fast enough. Reese is a sweet girl, but she got overwhelmed at the vet and didn’t want to be monkeyed with too much, so we think a home with older children will be more appropriate for her. When Reese came to us she was on Royal Canin Urinary SO food due to urinary tract infections she had at animal control. Our vet is not certain she needs to remain on this food, but we have opted to leave her on it for the time being so we don’t introduce any urinary issues while she is looking for her forever home. An adopter can discuss the possibility of transitioning her to an over-the-counter urinary care food with their vet. More information on our adoption process and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org. Reese asks to go outside: https://youtu.be/yW0c7r2ikxM

Story
Brownie was surrendered to Famous Fido Rescue when his former family decided to move to a place that didn’t allow dogs. He has been very sad since being left behind as he had only known that one home, and now, he’s been thrown off his routine – something he depended on greatly. He is a very affectionate and sweet boy. Our volunteers love to give him belly rubs and comfort him. But he really needs a loving family to feel complete. He may be okay with other dogs pending a meet and greet.

Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625 ESTIMATED DOB: 2016 WEIGHT: 10lbs KIDS: Likely DOGS: Yes CATS: Possible HISTORY: Orchid came to us from a suburban animal control facility. ABOUT: Orchid is the sweetest, most affectionate, happiest girl. She loves to be with people and is a constant companion and shadow. Her foster doesn’t even think she knows her name, as they never have an opportunity to call her - she is always right there with you. Orchid loves to hop around on her back legs to get your attention. She will do anything to get into your lap. If you dare sit down to put your shoes on you have to contend with her trying to climb up into your lap. Once she is in your lap she sits down and is completely content. Her foster often puts her in a dog sling to be carried around when they need to get something done and Orchid insists on being close by. Orchid is a burrower and will ask you to hold the blanket up so she can run under and will often sleep on or near your legs. Orchid is being fostered with a large and small dog. She does great with them, but can annoy them. When she wants to play she can’t read the room and doesn’t respond to their lack of interest. She sees nothing wrong with standing on another sleeping dog to try to get them to play or relentlessly jumping on them as a play invitation. So while she is great with other dogs and wants to play, she should only be placed with tolerant dogs of a similar activity level. Her foster often has to play interference as it isn’t fair to expect the other dogs to tolerate her well-meaning, but annoying behaviors. She does like to bark at dogs on the sidewalk and other dogs when she is on leash. Orchid is not fostered with cats, but she didn’t react much to a cat she met at the vet, so it is possible that she may be OK with cats - although she might be just as pesty to them as she can be to other dogs. Orchid is not high energy, and loves to cuddle and snuggle, but her foster says Orchid has a “high idle” at times. If you are busy, she is busy: “Do you need help?” “What are you doing, can I watch?” Although she can be in the way, on occasion, it is hard to be mad at her because she is so sweet and doesn’t mean any harm. She enjoys playing with toys, especially stuffed toys with squeakers. Orchid is very food motivated so you need to keep an eye on anything that could potentially be interesting for her to eat including things like chapstick and medicine. Orchid is crated while her foster is gone. She has been left gated in the kitchen a few times, without issue, but she cannot be left anywhere that she can find something interesting to eat. The neighbor does say that she cries for a while when her foster leaves, so she will not be appropriate for all apartment situations. Orchid is very good at going potty outside, but she will do best if she has potty pads available. She knows what they are for and will make an effort to hit them as long as they are in regular spots. Orchid recently had surgery to remove a Calcium Oxalate bladder stone. She will need to remain on a prescription diet throughout the rest of her life. Her treats must also be appropriate. It isn’t a very big deal, as Orchid is so food motivated that she is happy to take pieces of her food as treats. Even with the diet changes, the stones may still recur. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/calcium-oxalate-bladder-stones-in-dogs. Orchid is not being fostered with children. Although her foster doesn’t think she would be anything but sweet as pie, all children would need to be old enough to reliably keep things out of her reach and not feed her any table scraps or unapproved treats. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.
