Story
Meet Merle! This old buddy is 10-11 years old and 35ish lbs. he’s a chill old guy who’s excellent with dogs and cats. He’s low maintenance as they come and the only hitch is he doesn’t have 100% control over his bladder. He happily wears a belly band though so we can’t complain. If you’re looking for an easy going senior companion, this is your guy. Merle is part of our Senior Soulmate Program. If he is adopted by a senior citizen, a generous donor will sponsor his adoption fee, and he will come with six months of heart worm protection.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   October 1, 2025, 7:32 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Meet Chance! Chance is a 2 and a half year old beagle basset mix hoping Santa brings him a new home for the holidays! He is about 26 pounds and up to date on shots and neutered. Chance is your typical beagle basset who is high energy and has a tendency to grab his own treats off the counters! He is house trained and crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. He was relinquished to OBHR because he was one of 4 high energy dogs in the house and it was too much to handle. Basically because he is a hound dog! So if you are familiar with hounds he will fit right into your family! He will need a home with a fenced in yard and someone who can keep him active and exercised! He loves to play with his toys and snuggle, go for hikes and loves ice cubes and baby carrots! His adoption fee is $300 and he is currently located in Columbus.  If interested please apply at ohiobassetrescue.com and once approved email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. We adopt only to Ohio and states that border Ohio. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 30, 2025, 10:59 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Flash is a 5 yr old full basset who is looking for a lap to cuddle up on. House trained, can use a doggie door and a vehicle ramp. He gets along with other dogs and would love a furry friend to play with. This guy loves to go for walks and does good on car rides. Cuddling on the couch is his favorite past time and if you have a blanket you'll have to share, he insists. Flash does have some separation anxiety his foster is working on him with and giving him calming treats when he leaves for work. Ideally his new home would be home frequently and have experience with separation anxiety in dogs. He is being fostered in Toledo, up to date and fixed, and requires a fenced in yard. Adoption fee is $300. Please apply at ohiobassetrescue.com and once approved emailed ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. We only adopt to Ohio and states that border. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 9:13 am
