Story
1/29/24: Dorkie is a Dachshund Yorkie hence the name: Dorkie is 8 lbs and 9 years young. He is a great dog, that is not fond of someone in his face. He likes to be petted, sleeps with his foster and gets along great with the other small dogs as long as they don't challenge him (no big dogs). We don't recommend kids under 13. Kids need to understand his space issues and leave him be if needed. He is mostly house trained and goes to the door to go out. He is crate trained. Walks well on a leash. Be the perfect dog for quiet couple or individual. He has come a long way since his intake in 2022. UPDATE: July 2022 Dorkie was previously adopted and was just returned for being pushy with other dogs and will need a patient experienced parent. If he knows that the behavior will not be tolerated. He is house, and crate trained. Once he realizes his pushiness will not be tolerated, he is good with other dogs that are not dominant. he is an active pup that follows you everywhere. He does get underfoot, so keep that in mind. He loves doing Zoomies and exploring so a fenced yard is needed. 4/1/2022 Dorkie is an owner surrender along with his brother. Purchased at Petland 7 years ago and never vetted. Both were covered in fleas. They had sibling rivalry and would do best apart. Freds Mission Rescue has an adoption radius of 100 miles from Cincinnati. All dogs are fully vetted, altered, current on flea/tick/heartworm/wormer, and microchipped. The rescue does not adopt out to properties with invisible fences or tie outs. Application: https://form.jotform.com/FredsMission/app

Tuffy is doing great with her treatment and the hope is she will be ready for adoption early July. Thank you for your continued support!   Feb 16 update: Tuffy is currently in a foster home close to our Columbus vet. She will still continue HW treatment under our care until her vetting is complete. We would consider her for adoption only under the circumstances that she is adopted close to our vet and in a home ideal for recovery. Otherwise she will not he made available for several months until she is completely healthy. ****** Sweet Tuffy is a special needs girl at the moment, and needs a CALM and QUIET home! She is currently at our vet in Columbus and needs a foster and/or forever home! We are willing to so a foster to adopt on Tuff due to her Heartworm treatment plan. Tuff came to OBHR in bad shape. Dehydrated, diarrhea, bad teeth and ears, but as soon as she started to perk up we found out she was heartworm positive.  Her HW treatment has begun and she is in need of a calm place to live while she is on the road to recovery. Because she will need to be seen by our vet in Columbus we need someone who will be able to bring her back to our vet to continue her treatments every several weeks at our cost. Once her HW treatments are passed and she is given the green light we will also do her dental and spay. Her next time needing to come back to our vet will be March 31.  Tuff is a sweet senior girl who needs a second chance at life. She is good with other dogs and kids, older kids only please due to her needing to be calm and quiet, but she is NOT good with cats or small animals.  If you can give Tuff a safe quiet place to recoup or to live out her life please apply at ohiobassetresuce.com and when approved email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. Her adoption fee is $200. (much less than her vet bills!)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 10:11 pm

He is a real sweetheart and a huge cuddle bug but he is a very active and strong guy and needs an active family to keep up with him! Teenagers and up only for Todd please and he would enjoy a younger 4 legged playmate to keep him active! He is house broken, crate trained, up to date and neutered. He is about 45 pounds and will need a home with a fenced in yard. No cats! Todd’s adoption fee is $250 and he is being fostered near Dayton. If interested please apply online at ohiobassetrescue.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *****COURTESY POST*****PLEASE CONTACT OWNER LISTED IN THIS BIO, NOT OBHR. THIS IS NOT A DOG IN OUR RESCUE AND WE HOLD NO LIABILITY FOR THIS ADOPTION. Ash is a 2 almost 3 year old ( July 22  of 2022 DOB), located in northwest ohio. She is spayed and potty trained (has the occasional accident). She is very loving and patient towards children. 100% has the basset attitude and grace. Due to some issues we are looking to rehome her. She has a problem with resource guarding and needs to be in an only dog household. We adopted her about a year and a half ago and have been trying our best to break the aggression but we are very inexperienced and haven't had luck. I am looking for a home that can show her the patience, love and understanding that she needs and deserves. Experience with resource guarding is definitely a plus.
