Story
WATCH MY VIDEO...Griff thought he already had his happily ever after. He was adopted from our shelter as a puppy, full of hope and with his whole life ahead of him. Like every puppy, he trusted that the family who chose him would love him through every stage of life. But recently, at just 2 years old, Griff was brought back to us for one heartbreaking reason. He grew too big. When you adopt a puppy, there is always the possibility that the tiny bundle of fur in your arms will grow into a large dog. That is part of the promise we make when we welcome a puppy into our lives. Griff kept his promise. He grew up. Sadly, his family could not keep theirs. Through no fault of his own, Griff lost the only home he knew. Now this beautiful boy finds himself back in a kennel, trying to understand why everything he loved suddenly disappeared. Our volunteers tell us he is nervous here, and it`s easy to understand why. The sights, sounds, and uncertainty of shelter life can be overwhelming for a dog who thought he belonged with a family forever. What Griff needs most is time, patience, and someone who will help him believe that he is safe again. It`s heartbreaking to see this beautiful dog look at every passerby to see if it`s his family, coming back for him. At heart, Griff is still very much a puppy. He has energy to spare and loves to play. He gets excited whenever he sees other dogs and would love a chance to make new friends. He adores toys, happily accepts treats, and is reported to be easy to leash up and walk out of his kennel. His previous family shared that he is good with people and children as young as 2 years old. He has never been around cats. Because every dog is unique, we always recommend a dog meet for any potential canine siblings. Yes, Griff will need daily exercise and an active family willing to help him burn off that youthful energy. But what you`ll receive in return is something priceless. You`ll gain a loyal companion who loves with his whole heart, celebrates every moment with enthusiasm, and simply wants to belong to someone again. Griff isn`t asking for perfection. He`s asking for permanence. This time, he deserves a family who understands that puppies grow up, that love doesn`t come with a size limit, and that forever should truly mean forever.

Story
07/11/26 Our favorite senior bonded pair, Cleo and Milo, are doing wonderfully in their foster home—but they’re still searching for their forever foster home. They’re the easiest, most loving, gentle duo, and they’d be so grateful for a permanent soft place to land in their golden years. They get along great with other dogs and are wonderful with children. Hi! We’re Cleo and Milo. We came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation—over 50 dogs living in one house—until the Doberman Rescue League saved us. They brought us to an amazing foster home where we finally feel safe and loved. Now we’re ready for our forever home. We walk nicely on a leash and can be walked together (though, let’s be honest—we are Dobermans, and lizards and squirrels can be pretty distracting). We’re house-trained, calm, and gentle. We love people, do great with kids, and have so much love to give. We promise to be the most loyal, best friends you’ve ever had. What are you waiting for? Send in an application for us!   06/15/26. We’re urgently looking for a Forever Foster for two wonderful senior dogs who must stay together. Bonded pair Cleo — 10 years old, spayed Milo — 8½ years old, neutered Heartworm positive (currently on a slow-kill treatment protocol) Thyroid levels are elevated (manageable with medication) Our rescue will provide any medications they need while they’re in a forever foster home. These sweet seniors were rescued from a hoarding situation and are now waiting for the love, comfort, and security they deserve. Even with his medical needs, Milo is an incredibly loving dog who deserves the chance to relax and be happy in a safe home. Senior dogs have so much love to give. They ask for so little in return—just a soft place to rest, a gentle hand, and a family to call their own. Please help us give Cleo and Milo the happy ending they deserve. Sharing their story truly helps—it might reach the person who’s been waiting for them all along. We know we’re asking for a miracle, but miracles happen every day in rescue. If you can open your home as a Forever Foster for Cleo and Milo, please submit an application today. Together, we can make sure these deserving seniors never feel forgotten again. ❤️Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home. Story
07/20/26 — BRUISER is looking for his forever family! This 5-year-old boy came to us from a shelter, so we don’t have much history on him. What we do know is that he’s incredibly sweet, friendly with everyone he meets, and always up for some pool time. He’s already won over a few of our new volunteers with his gentle, easygoing temperament. Bruiser walks nicely on a leash, and afterward he’s happiest curled up and snuggling with his person. He seems to enjoy being around other dogs, though we haven’t had the chance to do a direct meet yet. One thing to note: thunderstorms really scare him. He’d likely do best with a family that’s home often or works from home. With time, love, and patience, BRUISER is going to blossom into the beautiful Doberman he was meant to be. Get those applications in—Bruiser is ready to join your family!
