Story
3/23/25. Hi, my name is JACK and I really need your help finding my forever home. I'm a handsome 3-4 year old red Doberman gentleman that came from MDAS last June with my companion who was overbred, so not a lot of history is known about me except that I was probably just used for breeding and not socialized well as a pup. I quickly became a volunteer favorite with my sweet and calm gentle demeanor. I love to go in the staff office and play with toys. I walk lovely on a leash and ride nicely in the car. I'm good in my crate for the most part but prefer being out of it and do not destroy anything when left alone in my home for even up to 8 hours. I do have a huge prey drive and cannot be in a home with any small animals or cats. Although I like other female dogs, I would be best as the only dog in the home. I am best suited for a Doberman-savvy owner who understands the breed's quirks and will work with me to be the best that I can be. With the right adopter, I will be the most loving, loyal best friend you could ask for. PLEASE, I know you're out there; I would really like to go to my forever home! PLEASE SHARE me! 2/12/25. 3-year-old Jack is looking for his furever home. This incredibly adorable red boy has a lot of love to give and craves affection. He is a happy boy and very eager to please his adopter. Although he likes other female dogs his size, he is best suited for a home as the only fur kid. He is very good in a home when left out of his crate, even up to 9 hours, and does not destroy anything. He is fully potty trained and crate trained, although not a big fan of his crate. No cats or small animals for Jack. He is a survivor of MDAS, so not a lot is known about his back history, but his sweet and goofy temperament has made him a favorite among the volunteers. Jack can be a bit wary of meeting new people in his home, but with a slow and proper introduction, he is fine. He would do best with a Doberman-savvy owner who will continue to work and train him so that he can reach his full potential. With the right owner, Jack will make a wonderful, loving, and loyal companion. 12/10/24.  Our JACK is hoping to find his furever home for the holidays. This incredibly sweet 3-4 year gorgeous red dober boy from MDAS has never met a human he doesn’t like. He just wants to be petted and by your side once he comes out of his kennel. While he plays nicely with other female dogs at the rescue he is better suited as an only dog in the home. No cats. He’s a calm boy in the house but will need some training so a knowledgeable owner with gentle guidance will allow him to be the very best version of himself. Walks nicely on leash, rides great in car, great at the vets. JACK is a sweetheart and really wants to go home. Let’s help make his holiday wish come true and share him. 9/29/24.  JACK is such a sweet and gentle beautiful red boy. Walks lovely on a leash and is so happy for some attention and love. Needs to be the only dog. Cats and kids unknown so we will not put him in that situation.  PLEASE SHARE to help JACK find his furever home. 7/22/24.  Meet JACK, this absolutely adorable 4 year old red boy is looking for his forever home. He is new to the rescue so we are still getting to know him but he is a sweet boy that waits patiently in his kennel until it's his turn to come out. He likes everyone he meets although can be a bit shy at first. He would be happy as the only dog in the home. Since he came from the shelter we can no history of kids or cats with him so we will not put him in that situation.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
03/31/25  Nyla is a spirited and unique Doberman who has conquered many challenges in her life. She can be a bit reserved when meeting new people, especially men, but given time, she warms up and craves affection. Her expressive face has earned her the nickname “Crazy Eyes,” and one of her favorite tricks, “Give me sugar,” means she’s ready for lots of love and praise.   Though she takes time to bond, Nyla has never shown aggression and is both on- and off-leash trained with an e-collar. She responds well to both male and female handlers. She thrives outdoors, whether soaking up the sun or lounging by the pool during BBQs. She’s also a fan of indoor snuggles, often hopping onto furniture to be close to her person.   Daily walks are a favorite activity, and she uses a prong collar to assist with pulling. Nyla is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy the best of both worlds—relaxing with her family and joining them on hikes and nature adventures. Story
5/2/25. Mr. Jay Let me share a little about Jay—he’s an incredibly sweet, cuddly boy who loves to be close to people. While he may bark or seem a bit shy around new dogs or people at first, he warms up quickly. He’s very bonded with our other dog and has been around many dogs during stays at our trusted boarding facility. He’s well-socialized and adjusts well in those settings. Jay would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention—ideally as the only dog. He loves following his humans everywhere, being part of the daily routine, and soaking up all the attention. He also needs a space where he can run freely and play—especially when he gets the “zoomies.” He’s a playful guy who loves puddles and doesn’t mind getting a little dirty! He’s crate-trained, listens well, and knows basic commands like “sit” and “stay.” He’s improving on walks, too—while he may pull a bit at first, he tends to settle. We use a no-pull leash for him that works well for him. Health-wise, our vet has confirmed that Jay is in great shape and fully up to date on his vaccinations. The only special care he needs is some sunscreen when he’s out in the sun (due to his cream coat). This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make. It took us months to admit that our current lifestyle—with long work hours and limited time at home—isn’t what Jay deserves. Keeping him crated for extended periods just isn’t fair to him. We’re hoping to find a family who will love Jay as deeply as we do and give him the happy, active life he deserves. He truly is an incredible companion, and while it’s heartbreaking to let go, we know the right home is out there for him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
5/2/25. Ivan 10y old is a special boy; he came to me at 7 months old when my daughter suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. I have PTSD and had him trained at that time to be my service dog. He is, of course, retired now but did a really good job while he was working. He still has his vest and understands what it means. He is good around people and other dogs, crate trained, and likes to sleep on the bed. He does seem to despise squirrels and will chase them if on a lead in the backyard or at the park. Ivan loves to play in water but refuses to swim in it. He’s handsome and a big baby. He is overly distraught if hurt in any way and loves being cared for and wrapped in band-aids. I’m no longer able to care for him and am truly looking out for his best interest and a loving transition to a better situation.  Location Bradenton, FLVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
4/19/25. Hi folks, it's me TONI the Terrific, and I really need your help!!! I'm a sweet young Dobie mix boy abandoned in a garage before DRL came to my rescue. I have been waiting a really long time to find my forever home but am often overlooked because I am a mix; I wish people wouldn't judge me based on that. I'm a really good boy with so much LOVE to give. I thought I had found my furever home this past week. I was a perfect angel in the house, in my crate, in the car, listened really well, and took long walks on the beach with my foster. I didn't bark at any other dogs I saw and absolutely adored my 2 humans and never wanted to leave their side. I was so grateful for any scrap of attention and to lie outside in the sun. Honestly, I don't understand why I had to come back; I guess my foster changed her mind about wanting a dog and best friend in her life. PLEASE SHARE me and give me a CHANCE to show you what a great dog I am, and I promise you I will be the most loyal loving companion you ever met. Get your apps in for TONI the Terrific. I will be waiting! 3/10/25.  TONI needs your help to find his forever home! This 1-year-old Dobie mix came to us in early December after a Good Samaritan noticed he was abandoned in a garage. He's a pup, so he's definitely going to need some training, but he is sweet and friendly with everyone he meets, and he walks nicely on a leash. He is so grateful to get out of his kennel run for a walk or playtime. He would make a great and loyal companion to an active person willing to put the time into training this adorable guy. PLEASE don't overlook him just because he's a mix. He likes female dogs; cats unknown. Let's find TONI his forever home! 1/12/25  Meet TONI - This absolutely adorable 1-year-old Dobie mix was abandoned in a garage before some Good Samaritan found him and got him to us. He is sweet, playful, walks nicely on a leash, and likes other dogs. He is still a pup and will need some training, but he is smart and eager to please. Like all our Dobie mixes, he may not be purebred but is 100% lovebug. Please consider adding terrific TONI to your family and SHARE him. He's a GOOD BOY who will bring a lot of joy and love into your life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
3/25/25.  3-year-old Boddy is a sweet, mellow fellow that lays quietly in his kennel until it’s his turn to go out. We haven’t had a chance to dog test him yet as he is new to us, but he seems very chill and non-reactive around other dogs and would probably do well with another calm female. He has a very gentle demeanor and walks nicely on a leash. Since he came from MDAS, his history is a mystery, but we are going to make sure his story moving forward is a wonderful one.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral).
