Story
WATCH MY VIDEO...For seven beautiful years, Max was exactly where he wanted to be: by his person’s side. He wasn’t just a dog to her. He was her companion, her confidant and her best friend. She talked to Max the way you would talk to another person, and somehow, we think he understood every word. Then came the heartbreaking news. Max’s beloved owner received a devastating diagnosis and was placed in hospice care. The life they had shared for seven years suddenly came to an end, and Max found himself trying to make sense of a world without the person he loved most. If you look into Max’s eyes, you may see a little sadness there. We think he knows something is missing. He was the best companion he could possibly be to his person, and now he is waiting for someone who will be his person again.Max is a beautiful 7-year-old Doberman mix with a gentle heart. He loves people and is sweet and friendly with both adults and children. He enjoys being with his human friends and has so much love left to give. We don`t know how he feels about other dogs, so a meet and greet will be required to make sure everyone is comfortable. He has never been around cats. Like many dogs, Max isn`t a big fan of thunderstorms. When the skies rumble, he would probably appreciate a little extra reassurance and someone reminding him that everything is going to be okay .For seven years, Max gave his person his whole heart. He stayed by her side, listened to her stories, kept her company and loved her through everything. Now, this sweet senior deserves someone who will do the same for him. Max isn`t looking for anything complicated. He wants a loving person to talk to, a comfortable place to call home, a soft spot to rest his head and someone who will cherish him for all the days ahead. His golden years are here. All Max needs is someone to make them truly golden.

Story
05/05/26. Baron is a 5-year-old who’s been patiently waiting for someone to notice him. This handsome blue boy may not have the classic Doberman look, but he absolutely has the heart. He came to the Melbourne shelter after being hit by a car. Thankfully, he didn’t suffer any life-threatening injuries. He soon made his way to us, and he’s been waiting for months for his chance. Baron loves splashing in the pool, going for walks with our volunteers, and (of course) getting treats. He does well with other dogs. Cats and children are unknown. Take a chance on Baron—he could be your best friend for life.   2/7/26 Meet BARRON!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
07/11/26 Our favorite senior bonded pair, Cleo and Milo, are doing wonderfully in their foster home—but they’re still searching for their forever foster home. They’re the easiest, most loving, gentle duo, and they’d be so grateful for a permanent soft place to land in their golden years. They get along great with other dogs and are wonderful with children. Hi! We’re Cleo and Milo. We came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation—over 50 dogs living in one house—until the Doberman Rescue League saved us. They brought us to an amazing foster home where we finally feel safe and loved. Now we’re ready for our forever home. We walk nicely on a leash and can be walked together (though, let’s be honest—we are Dobermans, and lizards and squirrels can be pretty distracting). We’re house-trained, calm, and gentle. We love people, do great with kids, and have so much love to give. We promise to be the most loyal, best friends you’ve ever had. What are you waiting for? Send in an application for us!   06/15/26. We’re urgently looking for a Forever Foster for two wonderful senior dogs who must stay together. Bonded pair Cleo — 10 years old, spayed Milo — 8½ years old, neutered Heartworm positive (currently on a slow-kill treatment protocol) Thyroid levels are elevated (manageable with medication) Our rescue will provide any medications they need while they’re in a forever foster home. These sweet seniors were rescued from a hoarding situation and are now waiting for the love, comfort, and security they deserve. Even with his medical needs, Milo is an incredibly loving dog who deserves the chance to relax and be happy in a safe home. Senior dogs have so much love to give. They ask for so little in return—just a soft place to rest, a gentle hand, and a family to call their own. Please help us give Cleo and Milo the happy ending they deserve. Sharing their story truly helps—it might reach the person who’s been waiting for them all along. We know we’re asking for a miracle, but miracles happen every day in rescue. If you can open your home as a Forever Foster for Cleo and Milo, please submit an application today. Together, we can make sure these deserving seniors never feel forgotten again. ❤️Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
10/01/26.  BELLA is one of the sweetest Dobies you will ever meet. Her family was absolutely heartbroken to surrender her, but due to extreme financial hardship, they were unable to care for her properly. She came to us with a large tumor under her eye, and we immediately took her to our veterinarian to have it removed. She is healing nicely and is ready to find her forever family. BELLA is wonderful with children of all ages and gets along great with other dogs. She has a ton of love to give and will make a wonderful addition to one lucky family.   09/18/26. Bella is out of surgery, and the mass has been sent to pathology. Yesterday, we were contacted about Bella, a sweet 5-year-old red Doberman. Her family told us she had a “small mass” on her eyelid and surrendered her to DRL. Then we saw the photo… There was nothing small about it. We immediately knew Bella needed help, so we contacted our incredible vet, who rearranged their schedule to get her into surgery today. Now we need your help covering Bella’s emergency medical expenses. $5, $10, $15, $20 — every amount helps. When hundreds of people give even a few dollars, it can make a huge difference for a Doberman like Bella. Please donate what you can to help give this sweet girl the care she urgently needs. Story
04/23/26. Nyla is a vibrant, expressive Doberman with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s been through her share of challenges and has grown into a dog who bonds deeply once she feels safe—but she needs time, consistency, and understanding to get there. She can be initially cautious around men and tends to feel more comfortable with a female handler, especially in new environments. Because of this, she would thrive in a home where a woman is her primary caregiver, or where introductions with men are slow, calm, and respectful of her space.   Affectionately known as “Crazy Eyes” for her incredibly expressive looks, Nyla is full of charm and emotion. She loves attention, affection, and being near her person—but she builds trust at her own pace and does best when not rushed. Nyla is never aggressive during handling and responds well to calm, structured leadership. She is off-leash trained using an e-collar and can work with both male and female handlers when properly introduced, though she consistently shows stronger comfort and confidence with women.   Her ideal home would include a large, secure yard, which is something she truly thrives in. Space to run, explore, and relax outdoors is very important for her happiness and confidence. She is best suited as the only dog in the household and would do well with children 14 and older who understand boundaries and respectful interaction with dogs.   She is best matched with an experienced dog owner—ideally someone familiar with Dobermans or strong working breeds—who can provide structure, patience, and consistency.   Nyla loves soaking up the sun, lounging by the pool during BBQs, and relaxing on the couch with her person after a day outside. She also enjoys neighborhood walks, where a prong collar helps manage her excitement when she gets amped up.   This beautiful girl is looking for a calm, stable home with outdoor space, a patient heart, and someone who understands that trust is earned over time. In the right environment, Nyla becomes a deeply loyal, affectionate, and devoted companion who bonds for life. 8/12/24 Welcome Nyla!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
10/01/26. Meet Creed! This absolutely gorgeous 4-year-old Doberman lost the only home he had ever known through no fault of his own. Due to work and extensive travel, his owner felt it would be best to find him a family with more time for him. Creed is extremely friendly, people-oriented, and good with children. He is a big, gentle giant and has received some training. We haven’t had the opportunity to introduce him to other dogs yet, but he seems completely non-reactive around them. This boy is magnificent—don’t let him slip away.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
09/24/26. AYLA is still waiting for someone to notice her and give her a chance. This beautiful, all-natural Dobie girl is friendly and playful with every volunteer she meets. She would do best as the only dog in the home, with an active adopter who can provide the physical and mental stimulation she needs to flourish. Like the good Doberman she is, she may be wary of new people entering her home and needs an adopter experienced with guardian breeds. AYLA is an amazing Doberman who will make a loving, loyal companion for the right adopter. 05/17/26. Welcome Ayla to DRL! Ayla (DOB 05/25/23) is a stunning, all-natural Doberman girl with a heart full of love—and plenty of energy to spare. This beautiful young lady is ready to find her forever home! Ayla is dog-selective and, right now, would do best as an only dog. We’re still getting to know her, and she may do well with a calm male dog with a proper introduction. Her history with cats is unknown. Because of her energy level, Ayla would do best in a home with children over 10 years old. Ayla is very energetic and will thrive with an active family who can provide structure, exercise, and continued training. In return, she’ll give endless loyalty, affection, and companionship. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, spirited companion, Ayla might be your perfect match.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral).
