Story
Banana, 9.5 years, is a super sweet, sensitive, playful and loving pup. I started caring for Banana out of the shelter 8 years ago. At that time she was emaciated, suffering a skin disease, shy, suffering PTSD and quiet timid. It took her a week to learn to trust and eat food. In the 8 years we have been together, she has experienced tremendous shifts, through loving attention on multiple levels and some homeopathic remedies. She loves to run and be playful with other dogs. She also loves to bury her snout into you and give and receive love. She gets along well with everyone and has lived with dogs and cats and kids and people her whole time with me. She also appreciates alone time and while she enjoys caressing, getting too close for too long can be too much. An ideal new home would be somewhere with space and other animals I feel. Or at least where she can be taken to interact with other dogs. She has no known medical issues and operates best on a wet food diet.

Story
06/15/26. We’re urgently looking for a Forever Foster for two wonderful senior dogs who must stay together. Bonded pair Cleo — 10 years old, spayed Milo — 8½ years old, neutered Heartworm positive (currently on a slow-kill treatment protocol) Thyroid levels are elevated (manageable with medication) Our rescue will provide any medications they need while they’re in a forever foster home. These sweet seniors were rescued from a hoarding situation and are now waiting for the love, comfort, and security they deserve. Even with his medical needs, Milo is an incredibly loving dog who deserves the chance to relax and be happy in a safe home. Senior dogs have so much love to give. They ask for so little in return—just a soft place to rest, a gentle hand, and a family to call their own. Please help us give Cleo and Milo the happy ending they deserve. Sharing their story truly helps—it might reach the person who’s been waiting for them all along. We know we’re asking for a miracle, but miracles happen every day in rescue. If you can open your home as a Forever Foster for Cleo and Milo, please submit an application today. Together, we can make sure these deserving seniors never feel forgotten again. ❤️Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home. Story
04/23/26. Nyla is a vibrant, expressive Doberman with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s been through her share of challenges and has grown into a dog who bonds deeply once she feels safe—but she needs time, consistency, and understanding to get there. She can be initially cautious around men and tends to feel more comfortable with a female handler, especially in new environments. Because of this, she would thrive in a home where a woman is her primary caregiver, or where introductions with men are slow, calm, and respectful of her space.   Affectionately known as “Crazy Eyes” for her incredibly expressive looks, Nyla is full of charm and emotion. She loves attention, affection, and being near her person—but she builds trust at her own pace and does best when not rushed. Nyla is never aggressive during handling and responds well to calm, structured leadership. She is off-leash trained using an e-collar and can work with both male and female handlers when properly introduced, though she consistently shows stronger comfort and confidence with women.   Her ideal home would include a large, secure yard, which is something she truly thrives in. Space to run, explore, and relax outdoors is very important for her happiness and confidence. She is best suited as the only dog in the household and would do well with children 14 and older who understand boundaries and respectful interaction with dogs.   She is best matched with an experienced dog owner—ideally someone familiar with Dobermans or strong working breeds—who can provide structure, patience, and consistency.   Nyla loves soaking up the sun, lounging by the pool during BBQs, and relaxing on the couch with her person after a day outside. She also enjoys neighborhood walks, where a prong collar helps manage her excitement when she gets amped up.   This beautiful girl is looking for a calm, stable home with outdoor space, a patient heart, and someone who understands that trust is earned over time. In the right environment, Nyla becomes a deeply loyal, affectionate, and devoted companion who bonds for life. 8/12/24 Welcome Nyla!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
06/08/26 — ARYA. This beautiful fawn Doberman came to us from a shelter, so we don’t know much about her past. What we do know is that she’s incredibly sweet, gentle, and loves being around people. ARYA is quiet and well-mannered, happy to relax calmly in her kennel until it’s her turn to come out and spend time with her favorite humans. Her foster describes her as one of the most lovable Doberman girls you’ll ever meet. She walks nicely on a leash, adores giving kisses, and soaks up every bit of affection she can get. She’s even learning how to play with toys—something she may never have had the chance to enjoy before. ARYA is completely non-reactive around other dogs at the rescue and will sometimes even initiate play, especially with smaller dogs she meets on neighborhood walks. However, after spending years being used for breeding, she may be happiest as the only dog in the home or with a calm, small canine companion. She has shown zero prey drive and may do well with cats. This special girl has captured the hearts of many of our volunteers with her gentle nature and loving personality. All she needs now is someone willing to give her the chance she’s been waiting for. In return, she’ll be a devoted, loyal companion. Don’t overlook this fabulous fawn girl—ARYA is ready to start the next chapter of her life.   3/12/26. Look at this adorable dober gal! ARYA just came to us from the Lee County shelter, so we don’t know much about her past, but she’s incredibly sweet and such a joy to spend time with. She’s friendly and loves everyone she meets. Total Velcro Doberman. Arya is heartworm positive, and we need to get some weight on her before we can start treatment.  She seems to like other dogs, though we haven’t formally tested her with another yet. We also don’t know how she is with cats or kids. At first, we thought she was older than her estimated 3 years. But after just a few days of good groceries and love, she’s already flourishing and really does seem like a younger dober gal. Lucky is the family who wins this beauty’s heart.   3/7/26 We welcomed Arya to DRL today. We were told by the shelter she’s about 3 years old, though she may be closer to 7. She’s a super sweet girl. Arya needs to put on some weight before she can start her heartworm treatment, so for now she’s getting three meals a day and lots of care.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
1/12/25  Meet ARYA !  This absolutely adorable petite Doberman puppy was adopted out of Miami Dade and passed around a bit before finding her way to us.  As she is a puppy, she is very playful, energetic, and can be a bit sassy, but it is clear she wants to please and is eager to learn.  She is very calm in her kennel and responds well to commands, and is quite loving when she settles.   She will need a knowledgeable, Doberman-savvy adopter willing to put the time in to train her, and no doubt with gentle guidance, this sweet dober pup will shine. At this time, it appears Arya would be best suited as the only dog in an adult only home; however, with time and proper socialization, it may be possible to introduce her to another dog. No cats.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
05/05/26. Baron is a 5-year-old who’s been patiently waiting for someone to notice him. This handsome blue boy may not have the classic Doberman look, but he absolutely has the heart. He came to the Melbourne shelter after being hit by a car. Thankfully, he didn’t suffer any life-threatening injuries. He soon made his way to us, and he’s been waiting for months for his chance. Baron loves splashing in the pool, going for walks with our volunteers, and (of course) getting treats. He does well with other dogs. Cats and children are unknown. Take a chance on Baron—he could be your best friend for life.   2/7/26 Meet BARRON!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
You can apply for Speckles at https://ladyluckanimalrescue.wufoo.com/forms/canine-adoption-agreement-and-application/ â¤ï¸ Speckles is a 6 year old, 65 lb Beautiful Brindle Male dog looking for a home. We have never done a DNA test, so we are not sure if he’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback or a Staffordshire Terrier. He’s a lover; no test needed to confirm that! He was recently in a foster home with other dogs, which proved to be too much for him. He is great with other dogs when walking in the neighborhood and out on adventures in town. Speckles loves everyone he meets, he enjoys going to the park, long walks, snuggling on the couch. We are trying to find a home for him where he will be the center of attention, no other pets or small children. He honestly would be the ideal dog for a single person looking for a companion. He’s completely house trained, doesn’t bark, he’s content in his crate chewing on a bone while you’re out running errands. Speckles will keep you company cooking, cleaning, on walks, in the car at night when it’s bedtime. If you’ve been looking for love in all the wrong places, Speckles checks all the boxes and will never break your heart!  Speckles is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.     June 28, 2026, 6:09 pm
