Story
11/01/25. Nyla is a spirited and lively Doberman who has overcome quite a few challenges in her life. She can be cautious around men at first and takes her time settling into a new home environment. Affectionately nicknamed “Crazy Eyes” for her endless range of expressive looks, Nyla is full of personality. She loves attention and affection but needs patience and space to build trust at her own pace. She has never shown aggression during handling and responds best to a calm, gentle approach. Nyla is off-leash trained using an e-collar and works well with both male and female handlers. For her ideal home, Nyla would thrive as the only dog in a household with children 14 and older. An owner with prior Doberman experience would be the perfect match. Nyla’s favorite pastimes include soaking up the sun, lounging by the pool during BBQs, and relaxing on the couch with her person. She enjoys neighborhood walks—a prong collar helps manage her enthusiasm when she gets excited. This beautiful girl is looking for a family who enjoys outdoor adventures, whether that’s hiking, exploring nature trails, or simply spending time together in the sunshine. With love, structure, and patience, Nyla will be a loyal and affectionate companion for life. 03/31/25 Nyla is a spirited and unique Doberman who has conquered many challenges in her life. She can be a bit reserved when meeting new people, especially men, but given time, she warms up and craves affection. Her expressive face has earned her the nickname “Crazy Eyes,” and one of her favorite tricks, “Give me sugar,” means she is ready for lots of love and praise. Though she takes time to bond, Nyla has never shown aggression and is both on- and off-leash trained with an e-collar. She responds well to both male and female handlers. She thrives outdoors, whether soaking up the sun or lounging by the pool during BBQs. She is also a fan of indoor snuggles, often hopping onto furniture to be close to her person. Daily walks are a favorite activity, and she uses a prong collar to assist with pulling. Nyla is looking for a forever home where she can enjoy the best of both worlds—relaxing with her family and joining them on hikes and nature adventures.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
01/16/26 Sundae is a beautiful black and tan female Doberman whose name carries a story of resilience and hope. She was lovingly named “Sundae” after being rescued on a Sunday evening, discovered alongside her twin brother, Jack. Though she approaches the world with a cautious and skeptical outlook, Sundae’s heart is deeply affectionate. She finds comfort and confidence through praise, gentle guidance, and human connection, steadily learning that the world can be a safe and rewarding place.   Highly motivated by both treats and food, Sundae is currently in training to build her confidence and master basic on-leash obedience. She has never shown aggression toward other dogs, yet she does best as the sole canine in the home where she can feel secure and fully supported. Sundae adores people and absolutely loves children, greeting them with warmth and enthusiasm. Playful by nature, she frequently bursts into joyful zoomies, and when it’s time to relax, her favorite nylon bone keeps her happily occupied. For her safety and peace of mind, Sundae should be crated whenever she cannot be physically supervised.   An active lifestyle suits Sundae perfectly, especially with a handler who enjoys long walks and spending time outdoors. A home with high, secure fencing is essential, as she is an accomplished escape artist and should never be left unattended in the yard, even with supervision. With patience, consistency, and an understanding owner, Sundae will continue to blossom into a confident, devoted companion. She is a dog who thrives on love, structure, and activity, offering endless affection and loyalty to the person willing to guide her forward.   11/17/25 Sundae is one of the Dobies we have been trying to catch for months in the Redlands dumping ground. After several months of hard work by a very dedicated volunteer, we were able to get both her and her companion Tank. She can be a little shy at first but then warms up quickly and is very friendly with everyone she meets. She is a young, beautiful, all-natural Dobie gal, and once she puts on some groceries, she will look fantastic. She will make a loving and loyal companion. She likes other dogs, cats, and children, though that is unknown. She will definitely need a secure fenced yard of at least 8 ft, as this girl can clear a 6 ft fence without blinking an eyelash.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). 1/17/26 Meet Barron, a 5-year-old boy who ended up at a shelter in Melbourne after he got hit by a car. His owner couldn’t afford treatment, but thankfully, the X-rays showed no fractures—just some scrapes and bruises. He’s on antibiotics now, and his wounds are healing well. Barron's such a sweet and adorable dog! We're currently assessing how he interacts with other dogs to get a better sense of his personality. Since he came from a shelter, we’re not sure how he feels about cats yet.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). 01/12/26 Welcome Apollo to DRL DOB:04/17/18  this sweet boy found him self at the rescue no fault of his. Note from the owner: “Unfortunately, due to a few circumstances, we can no longer give him the home he deserves. Our daughter has a dog allergy, which has required us to keep Apollo separated in an open room away from the main areas of the house, limiting his ability to be with the family.”  It breaks our hearts because he thrives on companionship. We want what is best for Apollo, and we believe a rescue can help him find a loving home where he can be fully included and cared for.  He is a senior dobe with so much love to give. Loves dogs kids NO cats we start him on supplements for some arthritis. Fully vaccinated and got neuter this week. 1/8/26. Welcome Jack DOB: 03/01/2018. Don’t let his age fool you; he is a lovable sweet boy, very active, and needs a new family that will work with him. Most of his life, he was in the backyard with not much attention. We are not sure if he is housebroken. He loves kids of all ages and is non-reactive to dogs (we will evaluate). He is neutered, vaccinated, and ready for a new home. He needs a secure yard (digs to escape) because he was left in the yard without any attention or supervision.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
01/16/26 Tank is a handsome black and tan male Doberman with a sleek, athletic frame and a notably large, expressive head that perfectly matches his gentle soul. Though the world can feel overwhelming to him at times, Tank is incredibly sweet and tender-hearted, approaching life with cautious curiosity rather than fear. He does not display aggression toward people or other dogs, but he thrives best as a single-dog companion where he can feel secure and fully bonded to his person. His sensitive nature makes him especially responsive to praise, reassurance, and calm leadership.   Playful and endearing, Tank finds great joy in his toys and is well known for his frequent bursts of zoomies that showcase both his energy and personality. He is currently working on improving his on-leash obedience and continues to make progress with consistent guidance and positive reinforcement. While he is not destructive in the home, Tank should be crated whenever he is not under direct supervision, as structure and routine help him feel safe and settled. A securely fenced yard is essential for him, as he has a strong urge to explore and should never be left unattended outdoors due to his tendency to seek opportunities to roam.   Tank truly flourishes in an active home where he can spend plenty of time outdoors, going for walks, playing, and enjoying meaningful companionship. He does wonderfully with children, particularly those aged ten and older, who can engage with him in energetic and respectful play. Above all, Tank longs for an owner who will share his love for activity, adventure, and connection. With the right person, Tank will be a loyal, affectionate, and joyful companion who brings both warmth and excitement into everyday life 11/10/25.  Tank is one of the many Dobies abandoned in the Redlands. After months of trying to catch him along with his companion Sunday, a very dedicated volunteer was able to catch him and bring him to us. This all-natural young dober boy is beyond sweet and just wants to be loved. After months of fending for himself, this boy has learned some Houdini skills and is an escape artist who can scale a 6-foot fence in a heartbeat. He will need an extremely secure backyard with at least an 8-ft fence and can’t be left unsupervised. This beautiful boy may take a bit of work and training, but it will be worth it as he has a wonderful temperament, not to mention he is absolutely adorable.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). Story
Guacamole (Guac for short) is a happy little guy! He is about 2-years-old, 15lbs and looks like a Chihuahua / Minpin mix. This playful pup likes fetching toys and going for walks. He is good about going potty outside, is crate trained and knows the sit command. Guac is a little nervous until he trusts you so an ideal home would be without young kids. Guac arrived with a female dog-friend, but seems uncertain about making dogs friends at the shelter. He will hop into your lap for attention and treats and show off his goofy personality once he feels comfortable. Guac is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. To adopt Guac, please complete an application at AbandonedPetRescue.orgAbandoned Pet Rescue is a no-kill animal shelter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. To meet this adoptable pet, please fill out an adoption application at www.abandonedpetrescue.org and a team member will contact you to schedule an appointment.
