Hi there! I'm Derrika, a sweet 1-year-old girl who was rescued from a local kill shelter by Big Dog Ranch Rescue. I might be a little shy at first, but with some time and patience, I really start to open up! I just need a family who is understanding of this and works with me! I get along great with other dogs, and having furry companions around helps me come out of my shell even more. I have a moderate energy level, so I enjoy playtime but also appreciate some downtime to relax. One of my favorite things to do is play outside in the yard-there's nothing quite like the feeling of grass under my paws! If you're looking for a loving companion who just needs a little time to trust, I might fit your family perfect! I hope I meet my forever family soon!

3/5/26 – Spent some time with 5-year-old TONKA today. This gorgeous red boy suddenly finds himself needing a new home, through no fault of his own. His owner moved out of state and left TONKA with his uncle, who just didn’t have the time to give him what he needs. TONKA is a friendly, happy guy who loves his toys and really enjoys his walks. He does well with female dogs when introduced properly, and he’s good with kids, though we recommend a home with teens and older. No cats or small animals for TONKA. He is afraid of thunderstorms, so he’ll need someone who can be patient when the weather rolls in. 01/12/26 Welcome Apollo to DRL DOB:04/17/18  this sweet boy found him self at the rescue no fault of his. Note from the owner: “Unfortunately, due to a few circumstances, we can no longer give him the home he deserves. Our daughter has a dog allergy, which has required us to keep Apollo separated in an open room away from the main areas of the house, limiting his ability to be with the family.”  It breaks our hearts because he thrives on companionship. We want what is best for Apollo, and we believe a rescue can help him find a loving home where he can be fully included and cared for.  He is a senior dobe with so much love to give. Loves dogs kids NO cats we start him on supplements for some arthritis. Fully vaccinated and got neuter this week. 2/24/26. Two-year-old SUKI is looking for her forever family. This beautiful girl was surrendered to MDAS, and when the people dropping her off were asked for ID, they just let go of her leash and walked out without even looking back. Good riddance to that garbage, because we’re going to make sure this young Dobie girl finds a loving family who actually deserves her. She can be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly and is very sweet. She really just wants pets, affection, and to be close to her people. We haven’t had a chance to properly test her with other dogs yet, but so far she seems non-reactive. She walks nicely on leash and seems eager to please.
