Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATLAS... OR DOBY? PART-TIME GOOBER, FULL-TIME DOBERMAN SECURITY DETAIL  We have a bit of a naming crisis on our hands. We are torn between calling him Atlas, because apparently his compass is full and he's trying to figure out which direction his life is supposed to go... Or Doby, because "Doby" sounds suspiciously like the name you give a dog who has entered the Witness Protection Program and is not at liberty to discuss his previous life. ️‍♂️And honestly, we're starting to think Doby has been instructed by his attorney to say nothing without his human present. Because here's what we know: This 1-year-old Doberman arrived with very little information and approximately 17,000 unanswered questions. He was dropped off at a foster's boarding facility without official approval, with almost no history. We were told he had lived with children, another dog, and that his name was Doby. That's it. Apparently, the rest of his biography was classified. When he first arrived, he was scared, confused and understandably unsure about what was happening. But once he started settling in, we discovered something important: THIS BOY IS A TOTAL DOG NUT. Doby LOVES other dogs. Playing? YES. Romping? YES. Wrestling? ABSOLUTELY. Running around like someone just announced free pizza? EVERY SINGLE TIME. He has been having a blast at daycare and absolutely LOVES hanging out with his canine friends. Give him another dog and suddenly the worried, uncertain boy disappears and the Doberman version of a professional WWE wrestler comes out. But then there's the other side of this handsome guy. He's a Doberman. And apparently his internal software came with the "Protect My People at All Costs" package pre-installed. Once he bonds with his humans, he is going to love them HARD. He will want to be with his people, know where his people are and keep tabs on his people. Strangers? Well...Strangers may apply for access. He will probably want to personally review their credentials, references, employment history and possibly their intentions regarding the snack cabinet. This is why Atlas/Doby is NOT a first-time Doberman. He needs someone who already understands this breed and knows that a Doberman can be loving, goofy, affectionate, intelligent, loyal and protective......sometimes all before breakfast. He is young and still needs refinement. He needs continued training, structure, consistency and someone who will help him learn that he doesn't have to worry about everything going on around him. And let's be clear: He WANTS to learn. He's young. He's smart. He's curious. He's playful. He's figuring things out. He's not looking for someone who expects a perfectly finished product. He's looking for someone who looks at him and says: "Yep. I know Dobermans. I got this." Because when he decides you're his person, you're probably going to know about it. ❤️ You will be loved. ️ You will be protected. You will be monitored. You will probably be followed into the bathroom. And heaven help the suspicious-looking Amazon delivery driver. Because of his fear and uncertainty, a secure physical fence is non-negotiable. We require a tall privacy fence or very tall chain-link fence. No invisible fences, tie-outs or unfenced properties. He has previously lived with children ages 1 through 9 and two other dogs, a little Yorkie and a large Lab. We're told those dogs apparently had him thoroughly trained in the art of knowing his place. Now he's discovering that life can actually be pretty fantastic. He gets to play with dogs. He gets to wrestle. He gets to romp. He gets to make friends. And slowly, he's learning that people can be trusted too. What Atlas/Doby needs now is his person. Not just anybody. Not someone who thinks, "I've never owned a Doberman, but how hard could it be?" Nope. We're looking for an experienced Doberman owner who understands the breed, understands protective behavior, enjoys training and is willing to help this young guy grow into the confident, well-mannered Doberman he's capable of becoming. He isn't perfect. He's not supposed to be. He's one year old. He's a work in progress with a giant heart, a goofy personality, a serious dog-playing addiction and a security system that apparently cannot be turned off. Underneath the uncertainty is a very special dog waiting for someone who will take the time to earn his trust. He may steal your heart. He may steal your couch. He may steal your personal space. And there is a very good chance he will steal your other dog's dignity during a wrestling match. ❤️ He just needs someone willing to help him figure out where he belongs. Which brings us right back to the name...Atlas? Because his compass is full. Doby? Because apparently he's in Witness Protection. ️‍♂️We're taking votes. Whatever we eventually call him, this boy is ready for a new chapter, preferably one involving good people, good dogs, plenty of wrestling and absolutely no more mysterious plot twists. ❤️ United Doberman Rescue www.uniteddobermanrescue.orgClick here to watch a video of Atlas aka Doby.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.United Doberman Rescue Adoption Process Application Submission: Complete the adoption application thoroughly. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet baby Blair! Blair’s name means “plain” or “field,” which feels almost too fitting for this sweet girl considering the journey that brought her to us. Blair was found abandoned all alone in a field in Iowa, and despite such a rough start, she has remained nothing but a happy and loving puppy. We estimated Blair’s birthday based on the amount of puppy teeth she had when she was found—she barely had any! She was clearly just a tiny baby when she was left to fend for herself, but you would never know it from her personality. Blair is a happy-go-lucky, HIGH-energy breed puppy who is ready to find a family that can keep up with her! She will thrive with an active family who wants a fun-loving adventure buddy and is ready to give her plenty of exercise, enrichment, training, and, of course, snuggles. She is great with other dogs AND cats, making her a wonderful addition to a multi-pet home. We also think she would be an amazing fit for a family with kids who can keep her busy—because Blair will happily return the favor and keep them busy too! Talk about a win-win! This girl is sweet, silly, playful, energetic, and ready to put her past behind her and start the next chapter of her life. After everything she has been through, Blair deserves a family who will show her just how wonderful life can be. Beyond her playful energy, Blair is incredibly smart and has already mastered 'sit' and is a total pro at playing fetch. She’s highly food and treat-motivated, which makes her training an absolute breeze and shows how eager she is to learn. She'll do best with a playful canine companion who can keep up with her high-energy lifestyle. If you’re looking for a fun, active, affectionate puppy who will bring plenty of personality and adventure into your life, Blair might just be your girl! https://www.uniteddobermanrescue.org/Click here to watch a video of Blair.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.United Doberman Rescue Adoption Process Application Submission: Complete the adoption application thoroughly. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Brandy, a stunning 5-year-old AKC red Doberman beauty who is every bit as sweet as she is beautiful! Brandy has spent nearly her entire life devoted to one person. Since she was just 10 weeks old, she lived with her elderly human as his companion, and in true Doberman fashion, she took that job very seriously. Unfortunately, her owner recently had to move into assisted living, and his family made the difficult decision to find Brandy a new home where she can receive all the love, attention, and companionship she deserves. Brandy is a typical Dobe when it comes to her home and her person. She bonds closely with her human and will absolutely let strangers know she is there when they enter her territory. Once she knows you, though, you'll quickly see the sweet girl behind that beautiful red exterior. Because Brandy has not lived with any other pets since she was a very young puppy, we simply don't know yet how she feels about sharing her life with other animals. Any introductions to dogs or other pets should be done slowly, correctly, and with plenty of time for everyone to become comfortable. She shouldn't be rushed into interactions just because she hasn't shown us yet what her preferences are. Brandy has spent the last five years being someone's loyal companion, and now she's looking for someone who will be hers. She deserves a home that understands the devotion, intelligence, and protective nature that comes with loving a Doberman—and, most importantly, a family ready to make her part of their world again. This red beauty has so much love and loyalty left to give. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Penny! Penny is a sweet young girl who we estimate to be around 6 months old, and she has already been through more than any puppy should have to endure. Penny came to us from Animal Control in Wisconsin after suffering a severe broken leg. Despite everything she has been through, this little girl continues to show us just how resilient and loving she is. Penny’s leg may ultimately need to be amputated, but because she is still so young, we are confident that she will adapt incredibly well if that ends up being the best option for her. We will be working closely with our veterinary team and following their recommendations to make sure Penny receives whatever care is truly in her best interest. Right now, Penny is focused on being a puppy — learning, growing, and soaking up all the love she deserves. She is looking for a family who understands that she may have some extra medical needs along the way, but who also sees what we see: a bright, beautiful little girl with so much life ahead of her. Penny has already overcome so much in her short life, and we cannot wait to see what her future holds. She deserves a family who will give her patience, love, and the chance to show everyone just how special she is. Penny may have had a rough start, but we know her best days are still ahead.Click here to watch a video of Penny.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.United Doberman Rescue Adoption Process Application Submission: Complete the adoption application thoroughly.
