Story
Anubis would like to say Hello! It is very nice to meet you! This gorgeous 1 1/2 year old neutered boy is Anubis. He is a large, bounds of energy and curious boy. Anubis is learning all sorts of new behaviors, trainings, boundaries and above all being exposed to all different environments. Anubis was not socialized properly and he is going to require an owner who has Doberman experience, someone who is comfortable and knowledgeable in training with a Doberman/working breed with their traits, size, personality and behaviors. Anubis needs very slow intros to everything new. He lacks self confidence and needs a strong confident owner who can show him the way with hard work, trust, patience and lots of love and understanding. He is getting better on walks and his fosters work all the time with him on leash control, basic commands and general obedience. They tried a prong training collar and he seemed a little reactive to it and so they have switched to a gentle leader and he seems to be responding to that much better. He is getting better with meeting new people, but still need slow intros. He will need to be with a family with no children younger than teenagers, he has not had exposure to children that we know of and they make him nervous and on edge. Too much noise and fast movements. He is still unsure of the whole world around him and so we want to make sure he feels safe in his own home and yard so we are requiring him to be placed in a home with a tall, physical fenced yard. He is crate trained, may bark for a bit and no blankets, pads or toys in kennel for he will destroy anything in it. He did pretty good at the vet and was able to get through the whole appointment with no issues. He is ok in the car, as long as you are in motion. As soon as you stop and he sees people and dogs he will start to bark nonstop. So this is an area that will need work as well. He gets along good with the resident senior female dog and the cat. Wants to play nonstop because he is a puppy and has endless energy, but he does respect the other dog and listens to her when she has had enough. He likes to play with the kitty and doesn't get too rough. Anubis is a really great boy, he is just going to be a lot of work and needs an owner who is going to be able to provide training, structure, boundaries, patience, strong leadership and love. This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog.
