Story
Alpo our older man is waiting for a nice quiet home.Mister Alpo, a mature 10 year old sweet ol' man has found his way back into the loving arms of DRM after his owner passed away. This gentle giant is looking for his forever home once again. Alpo is very content when he is in the comfort of his male foster. Alpo's previous owner was a single male and this is where he is familiar and comfortable. He is very good with all adults but when his foster dad leaves he will go by the door whine and lay there until he comes back. Alpo appears very healthy, he has a great appetite, joints look good when he runs, climbs stairs, jumps into the car. His issues are vision... as an Albino he likely has some vision deficits, he needs patience and more guidance in new environments. Alpo does have some UV googles that he can wear and he looks absolutely dashing! His foster suspects he also may have some hearing issues. He can be scared by loud noises. For this reason we feel he really should be in a fenced yard for his safety and to eliminate the wandering off or not being able to hear you for recall. Alpo also has numerous skin tags on all areas of his body. These do not bother or affect him in any way. This is a very common issue with Albinos. Alpo does great with all the resident dogs, big and small. He engages with play but the females have a different take and don't feel like playing. When he first got to the fosters, it must of been some time since Alpo has been with other dogs because it took him awhile to learn how to "dog" with others and engage and play. Once comfortable, and he understood what socializing was, he did great. No experience that we know of with cats. He has been around kids and he did really well. Mosied along and seemed unaffected by them. Alpo has a pretty low key schedule most days. He wakes up, eats breakfast, will go potty and go for a stroll or wander in yard and then come in for a snooze and will take several naps during the day along with some more potty breaks and another meal for supper. Maybe another walk and potty break. He is very content just lounging and being with his people and other pets. Alpo is crate trained or happy to just lay on his dog beds too. He does have some leash skills but definitely room for improvement. He doesn't have a ton of basic obedience or training, but he is starting to pick up a few commands that are being taught by his foster. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, LOL! So, if you are looking for a sweet, loving, low key companion to add to your family or household, you need to look no further because this boy fits that bill perfectly! This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog.
