Story
Meet Axel! Gets along with dogs. He lived with a Doberman, two cats, and a chicken (all indoor pets). Axel is fully vetted, including being neutered. Axel has been left alone. His mom is hospitalized and when she gets out, she won’t be able to care for him. He suffered a spinal injury (spine was bruised) when a big dog accidently stepped on him. He has healed now but he has a little limp. He is on a joint supplement daily. His spine is still healing and we expect the limp to heal. He is living in a foster home now but he is searching for his forever home. Axel’s adopter will have to be willing to keep him on his joint supplement. Story
Call Me Foxy Roxy If my sweet personality does not captivate you, my eyes surely will. I am a husky mix, a super duper smart one. I get along with dogs who are friendly and have good manners, although I will admit I like being the leader. I had a home but I was not happy there and I escaped the yard every chance I got. My mom was very ill and she did not have time for me. So I went looking for another home. That’s how I ended up in rescue. I promise not to run away if you love me and pay attention to me, and give me treats when I am a good dog. I am crate trained and house trained. I am 6-7 years old and weigh 50 lbs. My fur has a gorgeous shimmer and don’t you just love my baby blues? The ideal home for Roxy would have Husky experience. Story
Riddles is a 4-year-old male (55 lbs.) who was rescued from Memphis Animal Services. He is quiet in his crate and very clean. He is a well mannered dog who has a very sweet nature. He has not pottied in his crate or in the house. He is working on his obedience commands and so far he has mastered “Come” and “Sit.” Riddle loves hiking in the woods behind his foster home; hiking brings out the puppy in him. Riddle is currently living in a foster home in the Memphis area, where for the first time, he is learning the ropes of being a pampered pooch. Riddle has heartworms and he has begun the slow kill treatment for his heartworms. Riddle should be the only dog in the home. Because Riddle has some scarring from his past life, we think it is best that he be an only dog. He will need a securely fenced yard and to be monitored when he is outside exercising. Why? Because he can climb as well as a cat!!! He is looking for an ultra loving and responsible home that will give him security, love and a solid routine. Riddle is on the search for his perfect family. Story
Hi! My name is Gruber, but everyone calls me Griffin (Or Griff or Big G!). I heard that I am the 2nd longest dog in the MAS system, but I don't know why because I'm told I am incredibly handsome! You should know that I am not a big fan of other dogs. They make me anxious, so as you can imagine, being at the shelter was very stressful. Luckily, my now foster mom played with me in the yard and decided to bring me home with her, and that has been great. When I first went to my foster home, they always tried to pet me and love on me, and I didn't understand this "cuddling" when we could be playing instead. Then I figured out how incredible belly rubs are, and now I like to get those all the time! I try to crawl into foster mom's lap, but it's a hard fit but worth the effort. I learned really quickly that I potty outside, and proud to say I never have accidents! I am a homebody. I am happiest in the comfort of my own space. I love having a backyard where I can play, run, and feel safe. I would enjoy a home where I can watch sports and movies with you or watch you play video games. I am also good at entertaining myself with a Benabone or staring at shadows on the wall while my foster mom works on the computer. Some of my likes are belly rubs, peanut butter-filled Kongs, and playing keep away! Im the champ at keep away. As soon as foster dad gets home, I look for the closest toy I can find so we can play, and I always win! You see, I am a VERY happy boy. I prefer to be the only pet in my home since other dogs make me anxious. If you think you would be the home I've been waiting for, just let my foster mom know!" Story
Valvoline aka “Val” was found lying flat as a pancake on the edge of a heavily traveled street in Memphis. She was filthy, but upon closer inspection, it was discovered that she was covered in motor oil. After a few bubble baths, a gorgeous red head emerged. (In case you didn’t know, an old old treatment for mange is to dip the dog in motor oil, let it sit for 12 hours and then give the dog a bath.) P.S. The motor oil did work to kill Val’s mange. Val is 8 months old and fully vetted. She has a gentle, submissive nature. She is 35 lbs. of strawberry ice cream sweetness. Val lives with a foster family while in search of a forever home. She is being crate trained and house trained. Val is fully vetted, heartworm negative and spayed.
