Story
Poppy is a sweet, snuggle-bug of a dog. She loves people. Her entire body wags when she sees people. She is so gentle that she refuses to play tug of war. We came from a shelter in Dallas at 6 months old. She'd been hit by a car and fractured her hip. She's healed, but she gets sore after a few miles. It doesn't stop her from being a good hiking buddy. We've worked on verbal recall and heeling. She does need about half a mile to work out the excitement of walks, but once she's great once she's found your pace. She is 60 pounds of lap dog and will spend whole afternoons snuggling. Our kids were elementary age when we brought her home. So, she's always been around kids. We also have cats and chickens and she's not bothered them. She sits, lays down, waits for treats, and shakes. Unfortunately, she has some anxiety and food aggression with other dogs. She's on prozac for anxiety. However, the food aggression has resulted in her biting our other dog. She needs to be the only dog.

Story
Hi there! I’m Squirrel — and no, I don’t chase them (okay, maybe sometimes).I’m a 2 ½-year-old Lab mix with more energy than a double shot of espresso. I’ve got a zest for life, a nose for adventure, and a heart that’s all in when it comes to loving people. If you’ve got a backyard, hiking boots, or just a good throwing arm for a tennis ball, I’m your guy!I thrive in play groups and get along great with other dogs — I’m what they call a play group champ (I think that means I’m fun, fast, and know how to read the room). I’m super curious about the world and always up for exploring new sights, sounds, and smells. Sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me, but hey — life’s an adventure, right?I do need a bit of training to help me be the best version of myself — I’ve got the brains, I just need a patient human to help me focus all this fun-sized energy. Think of me as a diamond in the rough: shiny, sweet, and just waiting for someone to help me shine. If you’re looking for a playful, loyal, and loving companion who will keep you moving and keep you smiling, come meet me. I’m Squirrel, and I’m ready to spring into your heart.
