Story
Brittany can be reached at 575-740-6235 (call/text). Brittany is taking care of these three husky dogs. They belonged to her father in law but he moved and left the dogs with Brittany. She needs to find them a home. All information has been provided by Brittany.  They've always been outside dogs so probably not house trained. They are not good with cats. They have only been living with each other and have not been socialized with other dogs. Two of them are one year old and the other is two years old. All three are males. They are not neutered. (Low cost neuters have been offered.) They had a set of shots as puppies but are not up to date on shots now.    To discuss adopting one of these beautiful dogs who deserve better, Brittany can be reached at 575-740-6235 (call/text).      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 10, 2024, 11:59 am

Story
Hello folks! I'm Nutmeg and I'm everything you're looking for in a dog. Need housetrained? I wouldn't dream of making a mess. Need a girl who excels at agility and is active but also loves lounging with you on the sofa with you watching Netflix? Righty-oh! Thats me. Want a pup who pays close attention to everything her owners says? I'm your girl! I know my commands, look and listen, and focus well on my people. But more than that, I've lived in a family with children and was the apple of my family's eye. They could not keep me but can attest to the love in my heart, the goodness of my soul, the gentleness and kindness I bring to my home. I'm an absolute gem and I aim to show you that on our very first meeting. I am five years old, maybe a beagle/terrier mix, and 40 pounds. I am friendly, happy, and sweet. I've lived well with a dog my size and my family said I am good with cats too. I would be happy to have a family where there is usually someone around like a parent or another pet, as I am used to a lot of togetherness. I enjoy being in a loving home so much and I cannot wait until I have that again. Until then, I'll keep making everyone here at Desert Haven smile. I have a big beautiful one of my own too and I like to use it often. I'm a happy girl even though I have a medical condition. I have diabetes. This is a condition which requires me to have a shot of insulin after I eat breakfast and another shot of insulin after supper. I'll need these insulin injections for the rest of my life. My insulin helps me stay healthy and I know that so guess what I do? I sit perfectly well for my shot. My caretaker is able to give my shot lickety split and then we hug and it's like it didn't even happen! I'm such a good girl. I wonder if there is a human diabetic out there that would love me as a companion? But really, the shots are pretty simple so anyone who is awesome could make me part of their family and the folks at Desert Haven will teach you all about my healthcare plan and how to do my injections and meal timings. My health condition is a blip in my day really. The rest of the time we spend hanging out and snuggling together. I have a big soft cushy doggie bed and I love to jump into it then I get cozy. I love going for walks too. I'll also be spending a lot of time snoozing lots of the day away because you know how us dogs like to snoozeatooze. But don't forget play time because that's on of my favorite times of the day. Chase chase chase the toys! Squeak squeak squeak. Most of all though, I crave love. I am love! So if I'm your girl, there will be big love in store for all of us. I am a bestie of all besties. Are you in need of a companion? I am yours. To meet me: Drop in at Desert Haven on Tuesdays 9-4 or call/text 575-740-0643 to schedule an appointment any day of the week because guess what Greta does, she drops everything to do intros! Story
Nikita is 12 lbs, friendly, good with dogs, kids, and cats, and housetrained. She’s also huggable, lovable, carry-in-your-pursable. She loves galavanting about town, taking a sunset or sunrise stroll, and settling into the sofa with you for a siesta. Freed from chaotic shelter life, able to give birth and raise her puppies in a calm and nurturing environment, and now an empty nester. She was a little discombobulated without her puppies at first, but she’s adjusting well. Fellow empty nesters, we know all you mommas out there can relate! It’s her turn to relax, learn what it’s like to be a carefree dog, and find her forever family. Soft, sweet, and snuggly - who wants this little nugget to join them in their soft, sweet, and snuggly bed?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 18, 2026, 1:58 pm

Story
Hi there – I’m Milan! When I was just a tiny baby, a nice lady rescued me and my sister from a shelter in the nick of time! We stayed with her for a while, and when we were ready, we moved in with my current foster mom. My sister got scooped up by her forever-family really quick. I’ve continued learning all kinds of good things from my foster mom like snuggling (she really likes this!), going on outings in the car and meeting people, house-training, and how to accept compliments like – I’m a good GOOD boy, I’m handsome, I’m good with older big dogs and little dogs too! I like getting compliments, so I keep doing good things. I’m a puppy now, but I’ll probably grow to the perfect not-quite-lap-dog size of about 50-60 pounds. I’d love to meet you soon and show you what a good boy I am! You can text or call the nice people at Desert Haven at 575-740-0643 to schedule an appointment to meet me. See you soon!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 19, 2026, 2:27 pm

Story
Hi there, I’m Lucky! At 70 pounds, I’m a big beautiful bundle of sweet loving energy! When I ended up at the shelter, I had an injury that was causing me a lot of pain and it required a pretty serious surgery. This is where the real luck came in... The people at Desert Haven came together and made a plan to help me. Next thing you know, I was being showered in love from lots of pretty ladies and ‘nice’ guys. The ladies constantly tell me I’m a friendly, sweet, kissy face. The guys just tell me I’m a good boy. They're not kidding. I'm the goodest boy, and I’m also super smart and playful. I’ve been at Desert Haven healing from my surgery and receiving the best care from all the volunteers. I'm getting stronger and eating well, so I'll probably gain a bit more weight if you can believe it! My current situation is pretty sweet and I'm soaking up all the love and attention, but I’ll be ready for a home of my own with my very own family soon! You can meet me at Desert Haven on drop-in Tuesdays 9am – 4pm or text/call 575-740-0643 for an appointment any day of the week to come shower me with some love. I can’t get enough of it!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 19, 2026, 6:30 pm
