Story
We adopted Mya a few years ago from a local family she is almost 6 years old now. She likes to cuddle when we are home. She sleeps well in a kennel at night if in same room as you but can get distressed if she is left alone in kennel. She does best to let her roam free in house when gone for extended periods of time. Mya is great with other dogs and would do good in a home with multiple dogs or with someone that is home all the time. Unfortunately we are not home enough to give her the attention that she is needing.

Story
Koa is a fun loving, energetic dog. We got him originally to be a farm watch dog when we lived on a large farm in Pennsylvania. It was a good fit then, with plenty of acres to run. We have since moved to a smaller home and are expecting our 3rd child since getting him. Koa loves to play and deserves to be exercised and played with much more than we are able to provide with the workload of our young family multiplying. Koa has no behavioral issues, and is very affectionate. We simply cannot adequately keep up with his high energy and need for play and exercise. He’s a good dog, just not a good fit for our family at this time.

Story
Howard has such a great attitude about life! He is very sweet and loves to be wherever you are He does well for routine vetting, grooming, and rides well in the car. His favorite activities are running and chewing on toys. Howard is an active guy who had a pretty rough start to his time with us, but we know a great home out there for him. He always has something to say! The best kind of home for Howard: Howard does well with strangers in and out of the home, and he has done well previously with other dogs and children. We have not tested him with cats. Howard has been known to guard his resources, so feeding separately from other animals and watching him carefully with toys and coveted items will be essential. This is an all-around great dog who will really make his future family happy.

Story
Twelve-year-old Sunny has spent eight years at Little Victories. Sunny has been through the ringer when it comes to injuries -- two CCL tears, knees chocked full of arthritis, and a major fall that left her with a broken jaw and no teeth. She has been through so much, but this silly, happy girl deserves to be pain free for the rest of her days. She has a home at Little Victories for as long as she needs, but a place for Sunny to spend her final years of life would be life changing. This senior girl needs a hero.

Maddox

Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, 2 yrs 1 mo
Ona, WV
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Maddox is young, outgoing, and ready to have all of your attention! He is hugely food motivated, playful, and loves to learn new things. His favorite things are playing with his dog friends and playing tug. This will greatly benefit his adopter, as he is a younger pup who needs lot of guidance. Maddox craves affection, but he is pent up and needs a VERY slow introduction to new people. His future family can help ease that excitement with walks and other activities to stimulate his brain. The best kind of home for Maddox: Maddox has a lot of pent up excitement in the shelter, which is why it is so important for him to find a home before bad habits become his way of life. He is extremely teachable and willing to learn, especially for food, but Maddox would greatly benefit from professional training. He will require someone who can read his cues and interact with him respectfully. His best chance would be with an enthusiastic adopter willing to teach an active young dog new things like how to walk on a leash and calmly ask for affection. He plays very well with other dogs but has not been tested with cats.

Story
This big bear of a dog cannot wait to find his people: Meet Oso! He is a big, playful guy who has never met a stranger. Oso can be timid in new environments, but he is always friendly with people of all ages. He loves going for car rides and playing games of tug. Oso is an adult dog without the challenges of puppyhood, so he will have no trouble falling right into home life. He came to Little Victories when a housing situation forced his people to surrender. Oso has bundles of energy just waiting for someone to play and take him for adventures! The best kind of home for Oso: Oso is an active dog who craves more than a neighborhood walk to be fulfilled. He loves to play games of tug and chasing around his toys. He would be great for an adopter looking to be active with a large dog. We have not formally tested Oso with dogs or cats, but his previous family said he does well. According to the previous family he prefers female dogs, but we will reassess for any serious potential adopters. He does better in a plastic crate as he does have a bit of confinement anxiety when left alone. Oso is, however, very clean in his space, never making messes or being destructive with bedding.
