Story
Please contact Della @ (kittycityks@aol.com) for more information about this pet. Our adoption center is open both Saturday & Sunday every weekend! Saturday's noon-5pm & Sunday's noon-4pm. Lightning is an older boy who LOST HIS ELDERLY OWNER very suddenly. This has been devastating for him because he was with his owner since he was a kitten. After a few weeks with his foster Mom and some great TLC, vet care and healthy food, he is ready to find a home where he can lay around, eat good food, give love and GET LOVE!  Lightning is a very social and affectionate boy and purrs quite loudly when you are close. He loves to be petted and brushed and gives sweet gentle head butts. Lightning is looking for a loving home where he can retire and just lay around and be a companion and lap kitty to someone who will care and love him for the duration of his life. Lightning is around 17 years old. His vision is significantly impaired for reasons unknown.  It is not due to high blood pressure (BP is puurfect); nor does it appear to be glaucoma.  We are still looking into the possibility of detached retinas. Regardless of the cause, it is likely untreatable and it doesn’t appear to bother him.  He has adapted and continues to adapt quite well to new spaces. His foster Mom has found that he is quick to figure out the lay of the land if you show him where everything is immediately. Other than his eyes, he is very healthy for a cat his age.  He is on no medications.  Lightning will do best in a mature home or one with older, cat-savvy children (16+). He has been around other kitties and shows no aggression.  He will likely get along with other cat-friendly cats with proper introductions, but will be fine (and may prefer) to be an only kitty.  He has only been around his foster Mom’s very cat-friendly dog and doesn’t really react as long as the dog doesn’t get too close or surprise him. He would likely be okat with cat-friendly dogs with slow and proper introductions. Lightning is scheduled for a dental appointment and His FUTURE VETTING will be sponsored. Lightning was born approximately January 22, 2007, and his adoption fee is $125, or adopt two and the second is half off. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and deworming, is microchipped, and tested negative for feline leukemia virus. Come see this sweet darling at our adoption center this weekend!  You can visit our adoptable cats and kittens during weekend business hours at our adoption center, address and times above. During the week, all our kitties live in licensed foster homes, and while most do come to the adoption center each weekend, not every kitty attends every weekend. For more information, or to confirm whether a particular cat or kitten will be present that weekend, please email kittycityks@aol.com.  Kitty City Kansas Rescue is a volunteer, non-profit organization.  March 25, 2024, 9:18 am

Story
Ember is a beautiful little mama kitty who came to us with three tiny kittens, Blaze, Seraphina, and Phoenix. Ember has been mothering them in a foster home and has done such a great job! Now her kittens are old enough to be adopted, so Ember is ready to look for a forever home, too!Ember is a bit shy around new people and places. But she is very sweet, and once she has a chance to get to know you, she loves petting and attention. You've probably noticed her beautiful orange coat--most orange cats are males--so Ember is a very special kitty cat.Ember will probably do best in a quieter home where she can take time to adjust to her new surroundings. She's been through a lot the past couple of months, with having babies and going into foster. But she's going to make an absolutely awesome forever pet!Come adopt Ember today!

Story
Mirrorball has a sleek long-haired coat that is gorgeous. This girl loves toys, especially anything with feathers. She prefers to be low to the ground and able to hide under things versus going for cat trees to observe her surroundings from higher up. Mirrorball should be an only kitty, but we promise, she'll be all you need. She takes a bit of time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she'll be your shadow, following you everywhere you go. Mirrorball enjoys winding around your legs and purring, although she is particular about where you pet her. When it's time to settle down for the night, she'll hop up on the couch next to you (but probably not on you) to enjoy your company. Wet food might be the way to her heart, but if she could eat nachos or anything with cheese, she would probably choose that, judging by her audacity whenever cheese is on the human menu.
