Story
We looked outside our kitchen window one afternoon a couple of months ago to find this gorgeous little floof sunning herself on the hood of our car. We put out food for ferals (and get them fixed!) but we had never seen her before. Upon investigation, she was clearly feral but young enough that we could trap her and bring her inside. Madonna is what is known as a Spirit Cat: she was born outside and had no human contact in her critical first two months, leaving her wary of humans. She is not aggressive and is tolerant of human company, frequently climbing on the bed with me or approaching me curiously. However, she is skittish around people, does not like to be approached, and will probably never be a lap cat. She absolutely loves other cats and would be a great companion for a young playful cat or kitten who is in need of a friend. She would love to find a home with her friend Noel, also a Spirit Cat, and we would offer a discounted adoption fee to an adopter willing to take them together. However, Madonna would do well in any calm, patient home with a playful cat and without young children. She would be perfect for someone who already has an affectionate lap cat who is lonely and looking for another cat to play with. Madonna is so beautiful that simply admiring her from a distance makes us all feel honored! She is a long-haired beauty who has some Ragdoll features.     May 18, 2025, 8:58 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mama Girl came to Dakin as a stray but had no problem settling into foster care with her kittens. She's been a calm, sweet girl who did a great job caring for her little ones, but now she's done with being the "Mama" and wants to return to her single life as the "Girl." This beautiful, gentle and social sweetheart loves full body pets and has a calm, affectionate demeanor. She greets her foster with a stretch and head butt, and does that slow blink that cats do when they're trying to communicate with you. She takes the guess work as to when she's hungry. When she wants tasty food or treats, she sticks her tongue out and licks her lips. Just too cute! Mama Girl is playful if you engage her and enjoys feather toys and that all time favorite, the string. She would do well with small children, but her original finder felt she might do best as an only cat. You can speak to a staff member to get their opinion. If you're looking for a mellow sweetheart to add to your home, look no further. She's the one! Ready to Adopt? Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mae Mae came to us with her two siblings. She can be a sassy girl who would do best with no young kids. She does great with other cats but is not fond of dogs. She can be a little food obsessed so putting her on a schedule will be good to keep her from getting too chubby. She'd appreciate a good hands off play session a few times a day. Sassy cats are usually confident, intelligent and active. They often don’t like to be held, or have places on their bodies that they prefer not to be touched. When handled or petted in ways they do not prefer, they are likely to swat, nip or bite. They will be happiest in adult only homes or those with older kids who understand cats that have rules and will leave them alone. If they are bored then they may get into trouble and often need extra playtime in order to be their best selves. Sassy cats will go home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for EVERYONE in the home to be happy. Typically, sassy cats are not for first-time cat owners. Ready to Adopt? Story
My son adopted Thunder 3 1/2 years ago and cared for her until he moved to a place where pets are not allowed. I took over her care a little over a year ago, and very shortly realized I am allergic. I have a shorthair cat and a large dog, and she mostly stays away from them, but seems to get along fine. She was adopted as a spirit kitten, not exactly sure what that means, but she is skittish initially and then very sweet. She has been an indoor cat with us for the entire 3 1/2 years, she did have her initial shots and is healthy but has not been back to the vet for 2 years. She eats wet food in the morning and has free feeding of dry food all day. She is litter box trained. She does play with a little stuffed mouse, and other small items on occasion.

Story
Smurfette 2 1/2 years old beautiful sweet girl. She is the Biggest Lap cat there ever was. She will sit in your lap until you physically put her down. She is so loving and wants lots of Attention from her human. She just wants to be with someone all the time. Would make a wonderful Emotional support animal for someone. She is very quiet and lazy. Very tidy with her food and liter. She’s ok with other cats after slow acclimation but would do great as an only child.  Smurfette is Indoor only and looking for her furever home. ##2552508##

Story
Rosie is a sweet little girl with a big heart.  She’s very petite. She has short munchkin legs. She has beautiful long hair and bushy tail with Gorgeous green eyes. She’s very Timid and Shy and very quiet. She takes a little bit to warm up to her human but once she does she’s very loving. She doesn’t like loud noises. She stays to herself. She’s very independent and loves other cats. She wouldn’t do well as an only cat.  She needs someone to be patient with her and show her how to trust and love. She would do great in a quiet home. She’s not a lap cat but you can pick her up and hold her.  Not sure how she is with dogs because she’s never been around any but couldn’t be a loud barking one because she’s scared of loud noise. Probably do best with older well mannered children. Indoor only. Rosie is looking for her furever home ##2568210##
