Story
Meet Smokey BearAge: 3 yearsSex: Male (Neutered)Adoption Fee: $145Smokey Bear’s story began with a kind neighbor who noticed he wasn’t like the other strays in the area. Every morning around 7:30, and again in the evening, he would faithfully return for food—gentle, calm, and clearly longing for a real home. Wanting him to be safe and loved, this good Samaritan made the difficult decision to surrender him so he could find the family he deserves.Smokey Bear is a stunning, healthy long-haired boy. After arriving, he received a full grooming and had his matts removed, leaving him comfortable, soft, and free of those painful skin pinches. He’s a gentle giant, friendly, sweet, and a somewhat timid at first. Once he feels secure, he can be more confident and trusting, though he mostly enjoys peaceful roaming and soaking up affection from his people.Gentle, mellow, and affectionate, slightly shy but warms up with patience, enjoys being pet and having space to explore. Playful in a calm, low-key waySmokey Bear spent a long time living outdoors, so while he may get along with other cats, he didn’t quite fit in with the colony he came from. He would do well in a quiet home, ideally with older, respectful children, where he can roam, relax, and feel safe. His experience with dogs is unknown.Smokey Bear is ready for a family who will give him the gentle, steady love he’s been waiting for. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted companion with a peaceful spirit, this beautiful boy may be the perfect match.WARL`s walk-in adoption hours are Monday`s, Wednesday`s and Thursdays 12:00-4:00. Can`t make it then? Please complete and online adoption inquiry form and let us know what will work for you and we can more than not make it happen.

House-trained,
Story
Judge is a 6-year-old former stray who somehow missed the memo that he was ever supposed to be shy. Friendly, charming, and always ready for attention, he won over his feeder with ease using gentle head butts and expert-level affection. He followed her to her car like a fuzzy shadow, politely demanding pets along the way. Now vetted and thriving, Judge is ready to retire from outdoor life straight into a forever home where he can be loved exactly as he deserves. ##2637115##

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Stevie is a sweet 6 year old female spayed cat, looking for a calm home. Here’s what her foster volunteer says about her: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Stevie is an incredibly soft, gentle cat with a very sweet and shy personality. She is quiet and calm by nature and prefers a peaceful environment. While she may take time to feel comfortable, once she settles in she is affectionate and enjoys being near her person. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, Stevie really enjoys being pet and finds it very comforting. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She especially likes being pet on her head and along her back. Gentle, slow pets are her favorite. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She does not like her belly being brushed or touched and can become uncomfortable if that area is handled. Does the cat come on your lap? No, Stevie does not sit on laps. She prefers to stay close without being directly on top of people. Does the cat like to be held? No, she does not enjoy being held and feels safest when all four paws are on the ground. Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, she does not sleep in the bed and prefers to sleep in her own comfortable, quiet spaces. Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, Stevie does seek attention in her own gentle way. She will come over for pets when she feels comfortable and enjoys calm companionship. Does the cat like to play? No, she is not very playful and has a low energy level. What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She does not show much interest in toys or games very often but sometimes she likes to play with the stick toys with strings and ribbons on the end.  How vocal is the cat? Stevie is mildly vocal. She may meow during the day, but not very often or very loudly. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She primarily meows softly. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? No. If no, please explain. She has a scratching post on her cat tree but does not typically use it. Does the cat always use the litter box? She uses pee pads consistently. If no, please explain. Stevie always uses her pee pads. If there are any accidents, they are usually due to debris getting caught in her long hair rather than a behavioral issue. She does have hairballs on the floor fairly regularly. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Stevie eats dry food that is left out for her to snack on throughout the day and is refilled nightly. Is the cat picky about food? She is not picky and eats her regular food well. What is the cat's favorite treat? She sometimes enjoys Churus as well as wet food or cat soup as an occasional treat. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No, she has never swatted. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Stevie is extremely fearful of new people. She is most comfortable when the home is quiet and it is just her and her caregiver present. When others are around, she prefers to keep to herself and should have a quiet, safe space to retreat to. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? She has not been observed with other animals, so her compatibility with pets is unknown. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Stevie is incredibly cute, gentle, and sweet. Once she becomes comfortable, she is a wonderful presence to have around and makes a calm, soothing companion. She would be perfect for someone who appreciates a quiet, affectionate cat. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Stevie’s biggest challenge is her fear of new people and loud noises, so she needs a quiet, calm home. She also has long fur that is prone to matting and does not like being brushed.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  January 27, 2026, 9:58 am
