Story
Brought to Dakin as a timid, injured stray, Eugene is now getting a taste of the good life in foster care. Foster mom says that Eugene is a total love bug who is overjoyed when she enters the room, but this did not happen overnight. Eugene is like a diamond in the rough who, given time, will be a gem of a cat. When he arrived in foster care, he had an entire bedroom and bathroom to himself, not to mention food galore. It was like a kitty Airbnb, but after a rough life on the streets, he didn't know what to make of it and hid under the bed. Later he realized that sitting on a cushy bed was much better than hiding under it. Now this sweet boy is hooked on pets, especially on his chin, back and neck, although his belly is strictly off limits. Eugene also loves it when you brush his long, luxurious fur. His favorite hobbies include looking out the window, playing with ping pong balls and feasting on catnip. Sometimes loud sounds and movements scare him, perhaps reminding him of the stray life, where he never knew if friend or foe lurked around the corner. As such, he would prefer to be your only pet, feeling safe from the uncertainty he faced on the streets. Eugene has a lot of love to give but will need someone who is willing to let him move at his own pace. Once he settles in, you will find that his love was definitely worth the wait. Eugene is FIV+ but that doesn't does affect his ability to melt your heart and be your ideal companion. FIV is a cat-only virus and does not affect people or dogs. FIV+ cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats. If you are looking to add an FIV+ cat to your family and you currently have cats that are not FIV+ please speak with your vet. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt! **OR** Click on the pink "Adopt me" button to submit an adoption inquiry. Watch your email for a response from us! Adopting through this process will take several days and highly desirable pets are likely to no longer be available. PLEASE NOTE: Adoption inquiries are not holds or reservations. Pets are adopted by the first person we talk with who is a good match for the pet's needs. Multiple inquiries are accepted for each pet. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
Mr. Chill is our gorgeous solid grey and white long haired handsome, young boy that is a miracle cat.  A vet that Critter Cavalry Rescue works with, called about Mr. Chill who was brought in to their clinic with a badly injured leg and Critter Cavalry Rescue fixed him up and boy was he worth it !!!!  His regular name was Cloudy but we nicknamed him Mr. Chill.  He has healed so nicely and a dreamy, friendly,  snuggly boy ever since we picked him up from the vet’s office. He greets his foster mom at the door in the morning, ready for her to pick him up and hold him over her shoulder.  He wants lots of head scratches, please! What a trouper he has been!  As you can see from his good looks , he is also a gentleman and has been so tolerant of the other younger and more energetic kitten in the cat room of the house.  He has never hurt one, nor has he even growled to ask her to please quiet down and behave.  He just embraces the fun.  Mr. Chill is all that and more….such a gentle boy.  He is  destined to become a lap cat, not because he has to, but because he wants to.  Purring is guaranteed with his adoption and at no extra charge!   Please write to us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 20, 2024, 4:42 pm

Story
Meet Mr. Oreo.  This very handsome man is 3 years old and a medium size cat.  He is good with other cats and likes people.  He is just a bit shy of new people when he first meets them.  He will let you pet him but not always.  He needs a patient mom and/or dad to help him over come this.  He was found as a stray dumped in the country in middle Tennessee.  He still needs to learn that he can trust humans again.  Miss Judith came to his rescue and Critter Cavalry stepped in to get him all the vet care he needed and to find him the purrfect forever home.  Will that be with you?  To help Oreo please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.May 20, 2024, 4:42 pm
