Story
Meet Pepper and Salt! An affectionate, bonded pair of six-year-old Domestic Long Hair sisters currently in Hellertown, PA, whose gentle hearts and plush gray tabby coats are as perfectly matched as their names. These medium-sized beauties, each weighing around 15 pounds, have spent their entire lives side by side, forming a loving duo that brings double the charm and twice the purrs! These social butterflies adore human companionship and will happily trail behind you like tiny, fuzzy shadows. Whether you're folding laundry or binge-watching your favorite show, Pepper and Salt want in on the action, and they’re not shy about letting you know! Vocal and expressive, they'll meow sweetly to get your attention, especially when it's time for cuddles, play, or mealtime. Pepper is the more reserved of the pair, taking a little extra time to adjust to new surroundings and people but with a gentle approach and a bit of patience, she blossoms into a loving companion who melts into your arms. Once she feels safe, Pepper is just as affectionate as her sister, offering soft purrs and cozy cuddles that make every moment sweeter! Salt, with her endearing white diamond marking between her eyes, is the bolder of the two. Quick to bond and always eager for snuggles, often the first to curl up beside you or hop into your lap. Together, they’re a cuddly, purring powerhouse that brings warmth to any room. These girls are playful and delight in laser pointer chases, batting at little toys, and bird-watching from sunny windows. One of their most charming quirks? When they knead, they’ll lovingly nibble on blankets or clothes, a sweet little habit that’s become their signature cuddle move! Spayed and up to date on all vaccinations, Pepper and Salt are also on a special diet for sensitive stomachs and do best with regular grooming, especially in their fluffy rear areas. They’ve been around both small and large dogs, as well as kids of all ages, and handle busy households with grace. However, they would thrive most in a cat-free home with a caring guardian who can offer consistent attention and gentle grooming. Ready to welcome double the love into your life? Could your heart and home be the perfect place for these cuddly chatterboxes to land next? To learn more or take the next step, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com! Story
This sweet group of cats came to us together and is now ready to find their next homes. While they can be adopted together if you’re looking to welcome multiple feline friends, they are also happy to go to separate homes and start new chapters of their own. These cats have lived with other cats and a dog in the past, so they are comfortable sharing their space with furry companions. Like many cats experiencing a big change, they can be a bit nervous in new environments and will need some time, patience, and understanding to fully settle in. They would do best in homes that understand the importance of a slow transition and are willing to let them adjust at their own pace. With love, routine, and a calm environment, these kitties are sure to become wonderful companions. If you’re looking to give one—or more—of these cats a fresh start, they’re ready to meet you and begin their journey home. 💛 Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. Story
We looked outside our kitchen window one afternoon a couple of months ago to find this gorgeous little floof sunning herself on the hood of our car. We put out food for ferals (and get them fixed!) but we had never seen her before. Upon investigation, she was clearly feral but young enough that we could trap her and bring her inside. Madonna is what is known as a Spirit Cat: she was born outside and had no human contact in her critical first two months, leaving her wary of humans. She is not aggressive and is tolerant of human company, frequently climbing on the bed with me or approaching me curiously. However, she is skittish around people, does not like to be approached, and will probably never be a lap cat. She absolutely loves other cats and would be a great companion for a young playful cat or kitten who is in need of a friend. She would love to find a home with her friend Noel, also a Spirit Cat, and we would offer a discounted adoption fee to an adopter willing to take them together. However, Madonna would do well in any calm, patient home with a playful cat and without young children. She would be perfect for someone who already has an affectionate lap cat who is lonely and looking for another cat to play with. Madonna is so beautiful that simply admiring her from a distance makes us all feel honored! She is a long-haired beauty who has some Ragdoll features.     May 18, 2025, 8:58 pm

Story
Storm is a big, beautiful orange boy with a lot of love to give. According to his previous owners, he is a very friendly and playful cat who also knows how to perfect the art of being a couch potato. Once he’s comfortable, Storm is happy to lounge nearby and enjoy the good life with his people. Storm can be a bit nervous when meeting new people, so he’s looking for a patient home that will give him a little time to settle in and feel safe. With gentle interactions and tasty treats, his sweet personality shines through. He loves toys—especially wand toys, spiral toys, mice, and even simple bottle caps—and is very food-motivated, which makes bonding with him extra fun. Storm has lived with two other cats in the past and did well, so he may be open to feline friends with a proper introduction. If you’re looking for a handsome orange companion who enjoys playtime, snacks, and cozy couch naps, Storm might be the perfect match for you. 🧡 Change is hard for this cat.
