Story
With a name like Rocco, you would think this cat is a tough guy on the prowl, looking for trouble. Wrong. Rocco is a female kitty who has the word "adorable" radiating from her gorgeous orange coat and her cute pink nose. She had a home, but her person moved and didn't take her along, so the neighbors all pitched in to feed her. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons no one was able to take her in, so one of her feeders contacted the Dakin volunteers who care for community kitties and now she's here looking for a new place to park her pretty paws. She's a friendly, talkative, affectionate gal who thinks she's a dog. While Rocco is fearless, she is also a mellow, relaxed kitty who enjoys pets and craves her person's company. Are you looking for a new best friend? Rocco is the girl for you! FIV is a cat-only virus and does not affect people or dogs. FIV+ cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. FIV is not easily passed between cats. If you are looking to add an FIV+ cat to your family and you currently have cats that are not FIV+ please speak with your vet. If you're ready to adopt now: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) You can also: Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet, to adopt sight unseen or to place a 24 hour hold on a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Charlie’s journey has been one of quiet courage. He arrived at HTAT just before Christmas as part of a group of more than 20 cats. His previous caregiver, took him in when his original family never returned for him. In a home full of cats, Charlie kept to himself, unsure of where he truly belonged. At first, he was wary of his new surroundings, spending his days tucked away, watching from a safe distance. But little by little, he started to trust. First, he leaned in for a cautious head butt. Then, he began accepting gentle pets. And one day, he surprised us all by climbing into a lap, purring softly as if he had been waiting for that moment all along. Now, Charlie comes out every day, seeking affection from those he knows and even greeting new people—though still with a bit of hesitation. He enjoys gentle pets and lap time but likes to take things at his own pace. He’s not the most confident cat in the room, but he’s no longer the shy observer he once was. Charlie is looking someone who will continue to help him grow. If you’re willing to let him take his time, he’ll reward you with quiet companionship, gentle head butts, and the joy of watching him fully come into his own. Because every wallflower deserves a chance at love, my adoption fee is $114 from February 12-15 only!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
The magnificent Kloe was surrendered when her expectant owners realized that she would feel more at ease in a home without newborns. When she first arrived, Kloe had a classic case of “tortie-tude”. She didn’t want to eat, wouldn’t use her litter box, and would yowl at anyone who looked her way. Fortunately, the fix was simple. After moving her upstairs to a quieter room and giving her a space to unwind, Kloe was soon back to normal cat behavior. Although she’s comfortable in her new environment, she retains her strong personality and doesn’t let anyone (human or feline) tell her what to do. She's a talker and won't hesitate to let you know exactly what she thinks. With her stunning mottled coat and feather-like tail, Kloe certainly knows how to turn heads. However, she would be best for someone who’s already experienced with cats or who is willing to get to know her over time. She’s tired of being moved around—could you be the one to give this sassy girl her forever home? Because every wallflower deserves a chance at love, my adoption fee is $114 from February 12-15 only!

Story
Meet this handsome 6 ½-year-old male long-haired cat, who was transferred to us from another shelter. He’s a truly beautiful cat with a luxurious coat, but his time in a crate has made him a bit cage-aggressive. We believe he would be much more relaxed and comfortable in a home environment, where he can enjoy attention on his own terms and feel safe.Though he may be wary in his current situation, once he’s settled into a loving home, we’re confident he’ll blossom and show his true affectionate side. He’s looking for a patient, understanding adopter who can offer him the time and space he needs to adjust. If you’re ready to welcome this gorgeous boy into your life and give him the safe, calm environment he deserves, he could be the perfect companion for you! This cat is waiting for it's Forever Home! Email adoptions@ctcatconnection.org with a question or better yet, complete an application for quickest consideration. (Application: https://www.ctcatconnection.org/adoption-application/). Please consider fostering a cat or dog by applying on our website.A cat's behavior in the shelter is usually not what it will be like in your home; if the cat is nervous, anxious, or agitated, please know that a shelter is a very stressful place for a cat.Kitten Policy: It is important to understand that the socialization of kittens with other animals as playmates is important for their development. Therefore, CT Cat Connection has a policy that kittens and teenagers up to 12 months of age are adopted in pairs unless there is another animal in the household as a playmate and companion.Due to demand, we cannot place cats or kittens on hold. Your visit to the shelter is to meet any cat or kitten available for adoption at the time of visit. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping the shelter, we are always looking for foster families of our cats and dogs, as well as in-person volunteers, to assist with animal care. Fill out an application, which can be found at https://www.ctcatconnection.org/get-involved/
