Story
I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) but please don`t let that stop you from giving me a loving home!! The shelter staff has added some information below about FIV.Cats that test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) can live long and healthy lives, sometimes with no symptoms at all. They do require some special care. FIV can be transmitted to other cats, usually through a bite. Therefore, FIV positive cats need to be kept indoors to avoid infecting other neighborhood cats. They can live happily with other cats that are not positve for FIV as long as they get along. In order for a FIV cat to live a long and healthy life, it is important to keep the cat`s immune system strong, with a healthy diet and a stress-free environment. Regular vet checkups are recommended.FIV positive cats can have a difficult time finding homes, even though in all respects they are normal, loving cats. Please don`t allow the FIV stigma to prevent you from opening your heart and home to a wonderful kitty companion.

Story
Hey there, I'm Melo! I may start our relationship as a shy boy, but just give me some time to get to know you and we will be forever friends. I have been in a foster home before and learned that people can be awesome once I take my time to open up to them! My favorite thing in the world is being groomed and being pet on the head and back. I had to come back to the shelter due to a change in circumstance with my foster family. I have a slight medical condition and the great staff at the SPCA feel like I am ready to go back into foster care, are you the right person for me? My medical condition is that one of the adoption specialists would be happy to speak to you about. It's nothing too crazy, just means I get to eat fancy food that helps me feel better! I'm not really a fan of other cats so I will need to be the only kitty in the house, but my best friend used a be a dog and I would love to have another special furry friend who is cat friendly. Kids are great, but I have never been around them, so I would prefer a home with no kiddos or 12 and over. I would love to meet the whole family to be sure we a match.I am a "Foster to Adopt" cat !~ If you want to meet me please ask an adoption specialist. If we are a good match together, please email foster@spca.org to foster to adopt.

Story
Hi I'm Ripley! I am a mini panther nicknamed "Meatloaf". I was transferred to the SPCA of Texas from another rescue facility so I could get the medical treatment I needed to make me healthy and happy. I'm very shy at first but once we get acquainted I'm the funniest, energetic boy you'll ever meet!My foster said they loved how affectionate I was, especially when I rested my face on them. I love cuddles, petting and sitting in windows enjoying the fresh air from inside my home. I am super playful with toys, I especially love ones that jingle and light up. I'm social, gentle and an all-around sweetheart to everyone. In my foster home, I learned that dogs are too much for me. Kids might be great but I have never been around them. I would do better in a home with children over 12 but you are welcome to bring the whole family in to see if we are a good match. I have a medical condition called FIV. I can go into a home with another resident cat as long as it is vaccinated. I will also need to be on a prescription diet to help me keep me happy and healthy for the rest of my life. Feel free to talk with an adoptions specialist for more information on what FIV is and my medical needs.Come meet me any day of the week at 2400 Lone Star from noon to 6pm.
