Story
Sunshine is pretty special ed. 😁 He was a previously TNR'd colony cat from La Puente. He disappeared for two years and then showed up again near a colony close by. He had been thrown in the trash. He was hardly moving and he was completely jaundiced from gosh knows what. He was so weak that he needed an esophageal feeding tube to deliver nutrients to him while he gained strength. Cats are abused and treated like garbage around those parts and it is no wonder how he is able to trust people at all. This guy was different. Even in his dying stages he wanted to be petted on his head So weak, but able to lift his head for headbutts. He deserved a chance. He was resilient and although his recovery was long it was completely worth it. He's an indoor boy. Enjoys his toys like a kitten (probably because it is the first time in his life that he can play with toys). He has slowly been gaining trust and would love an opportunity to have an owner. While he is not a cat that will cuddle with you in bed, he has gotten the courage to sit with you on the couch to get petted. He's very silly, pretends he's feral sometimes, and probably a little retarded. He can't help the circumstances he was forced to live. We want better for him. He is a unique young man who would love to be someone's companion. Sunshine is being adopted through the San Gabriel Valley Animal Advocates. If you are interested in adopting Sunshine, please submit an application at http://www.sgvaa.org/pre-adoption-questionnaire.html and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Your adoption donation allows us to rescue the next kitty from the streets and pay for all their health and medical needs. Most of our adoptable pets live in loving foster homes. We can arrange meet-and-greets with our foster families, at our live-in habitats in the West Covina and El Monte Petcos, as well as at the Huntington Beach (Edinger) PetSmart. Amelia is an adorable and funny kitty, cute and short, too. She loves to mark her scents on her foster mom and enjoys getting pets. If you work from home full or part time, she can help with that, too. Amelia is being adopted through the San Gabriel Valley Animal Advocates. Story
Hi, I’m Cisco. I came to SBACC in July of 2011 with my brother Poncho when we were about 14 weeks old. We were both very frightened and went into foster care together. My brother was a bit more outgoing than I am and he finally got adopted. I am nervous around people I don't know and usually keep to myself. If I know someone, I may allow  petting, especially when it's quiet. I respond to quiet voices and I love treats.  I get along fine with the other mellow cats in my room.  I’m comfortable here and wouldn’t mind living out my senior years where I’m loved and cared for by a wonderful team of volunteers and staff.  Maybe if the right person came along, I could adjust to a new home, but after all this time at SBACC, it feels like home! Story
Hi, I’m Lambchop.  I  arrived at SBACC as a kitten along with my brother and sister.  We were all very scared. My sister made progress and found her forever home, but my brother Louie, and I are still here at SBACC, we prefer the company of other cats to people. While we will sometimes get involved in playing with a toy on a string, we don’t welcome pets or being picked up. We’re comfortable here and wouldn’t mind living out our senior years where we are loved and cared for by a wonderful team of volunteers and staff.  Maybe if the right person came along, we could adjust to a new home, but after all this time at SBACC, it feels like home!    May 7, 2024, 1:58 pm

Hi, I’m Louie.  I arrived at SBACC as a kitten with my two sisters.  We were all very scared, but I was the most fearful of all. Story
Hi, I'm Indiana. I was found in a Seal Beach alley near Main Street when I was about 4 months old. I have no idea what happened to my Mama or litter mates. I am a little shy around people but I do accept pets from certain people! I  tolerate my roommates, but would probably do best as an only cat. I hope my family will have a quiet home and will allow me whatever time I need to adjust.  May 7, 2024, 1:58 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Beamer. Four other kittens and I were rescued by Animal Control and luckily came to the SBACC where we were safe, warm, and well-fed while waiting for our forever homes. I was the smallest of the group and more scared and shy. All the kittens I arrived with have been adopted.  I am now all grown up and in a room with the other grown-up cats. I have been having a lot of fun zooming around the room, playing, and spending time with my roommates.  I am still nervous around people, and I don’t allow pets or being picked up, but I LOVE other cats and can’t wait for my very own forever home. I really, really need a home with another kitten or cat. cat May 7, 2024, 1:58 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Gretzky. My brother and I spent our first 3 months on the streets and when we came to the SBACC, we were very scared and very wild. Everyone was really nice to us and we calmed down, but remained shy and timid cats. My brother became a little more outgoing with time and was adopted a long time ago. I’m a very handsome tabby boy who is still shy, but I now enjoy petting from people I know, and I love to play with the mouse on a wire toy!  I need a quiet home with a cat savvy Mom or Dad who will give me plenty of time to adjust to a new home.  Although I live with other cats at the shelter, I think I might be fine as an only cat, as long as I have people to pay attention to me! Maisie is a very sweet, yet a little fearful Bengal~Tabby mix, a gentile spirit that is sensitive & atuned to her environment... An recent mother, she is ready for her next adventure, although ideal for human companionship, so far Maisie isn't readily compatible with other kitties except her own ~ She would make the purrfect solo kitty =^..^= 100% house broken, not a climber, Maisie uses her scratch post exclusively, she's sort of obsessed with it. Not a big talker, she greets people with her sweet little meow & makes other Bengal-esque sounds from time-to-time... Silky soft & healthy, Maisie loves to play with her laser light & toys, which is balanced by snuggle & nap time ♥

Story
Ducktail (Russian Blue look-alike) and Lawnmower (red-streaked tabby) are two gorgeous, sweet sisters who are less than a year old. They were found as newborn kittens last July in a Long Beach hospital parking lot. They are a little shy at first, but their curious natures allow them to warm-up quickly. They love to play and get all the head scratches. They get along well with other animals, but are also content to keep each other company. They are spayed, up to date on vaccines and are house trained. We'd really love these two to be taken in to a forever home where they are safe, cared-for and doted on because they are practically purr-fect and deserve the very best!
