Story
I'm very playful, I LOVE toys, I enjoy playing in water, I love to go on walks, and can give you a high-5!' - me, Rocko FrenchRocko is an 8-year-old, 25 lb. Frenchie, he was abandoned by his owner and tied in a front yard of the home where the owner was renting a room. Eventually Rocko got loose from the tether, then bit the property owner while loose. At the shelter, he was very selective with staff, liking some and trying to snap at others. Since he has been with us, he is just as selective - he loves one of our volunteer walkers and snaps at another. When he bites, he seems to like feet the most. He is available to a very experienced adult only and cat-free household, where he will have structure and boundaries so he can be the best Frenchie and friend he can be.March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Story
When Boomer came to us, we immediately saw his potential, and we also quickly observed that he was severely under-socialized with people, was very scared, and protected himself by biting. At 4.5 years old and 26.5 lbs., he’s a little guy who makes a big impact. Our team has been working with him tirelessly to help him adjust. He recently went out on a walk around a busy shopping mall and did well, and he can now be walked by multiple people without feeling terrified. Don't rush to apply, just yet, however. He still needs a patient adopter who will go slow with him, will read his body language and cues, and will take care of his physical issues. Like many Frenchies, he has many allergies and will need extra vet visits, medication, and an anti-allergy diet. He will be more expensive to care for than a typical dog. So, if you think you want him.... DO apply if you understand the unique challenges of Frenchies, understand dog behavior, are a top-notch calm and VERY patient confident leader, and can and will continue to set up Boomer to be a great, happy dog that doesn't ever bite again. If you can’t check every box, don’t worry; we have many, many, many other GREAT dogs that need you! Please apply for one of them.March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Story
Meet Sun! This handsome guy was found wandering near a park. He had clearly been taking care of himself for a while as the vet found quite a few objects in his stomach as he was doing his best to survive. Thankfully, that chapter in his life is over and Sun is ready to begin a bight happy life! He will need a patient and understanding home to allow him to trust humans and teach him basic commands and teach him how much potential he has. He also will need to gain some weight while he works on his best summer body. He'll be ready to explore the world before he knows it. Sun is 7 years old and 34 lbs. He's very affectionate with humans! He has not been dog or cat tested yet. If you have the space, he can easily be separated from other pets. This guy needs a foster! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Sun, please fill out an application today!March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Story
Hi I'm Piggy! I'm a 3-year-old, 37-pound, muscular Frenchie. Although I can be timid when meeting new people, once I know you're a good leader I will start to show my loyalty to you. I'm very affectionate and love being pet once I'm comfortable. I'm looking for a patient, consistent, calm home. I'm dog selective but after a proper introduction, I can do really well. Currently, I go on walks with another sassy Frenchie here.Oh, more about me? I was surrendered by my prior owner because I kept trying to protect myself when I felt scared and my humans didn't help me feel safe. With the fabulous TLRD folks, well, it is a completely different story. I feel safe here and always follow the lead of the staff and volunteers.March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Story
Tyson--a handsome, small, 4 year old, male Frenchie--is ready for an experienced owner that lives a quiet life without a lot of humans visiting. Neutered, Tyson is up to date with all of his vaccines, and is microchipped. He can be very selective about who he likes and who he is unsure about. Tyson did not have a lot of boundaries in his previous home, so he learned to guard his food. His food aggression is manageable by someone who is willing to earn his trust and build a relationship with him. He is not overly affectionate, but he does enjoy body and belly scratches by his favorite person. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Tyson, please research breed related health issues prior to submitting an application. When you are committed to what it takes to keep Tyson healthy, submit an application!March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Hello there! My name is Shamsky, and I'm here to share my story with you. Life has been a bit ruff for me so far, but I'm determined to wag my way into the heart of a special someone.I was discovered all alone in a park, abandoned and confused. It was a tough start, but I'm not one to dwell on the past. Despite facing challenges, I've got this remarkable zest for life. You see, I have something called IVDD, which makes my hind legs a bit wobbly, but don't let that slow you down – it certainly doesn't slow me!I'm around 4 years old and still rocking a spunky and playful attitude. My hind legs may not be the strongest, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the simple pleasures of life. I can still manage to take care of business on my own, and I get around just fine. Of course, I might need a little extra TLC as time goes on, but for now, I'm a happy, loving pup.Despite my rocky start, I've got no grudges against people. In fact, I thrive on human companionship! I love making new friends and soaking up all the love and attention. I'm like a social butterfly, always ready to bring joy and laughter to those around me.Now, I'm on the lookout for my perfect match – someone experienced or willing to take on the adventure of caring for a special needs dog like me. I promise to bring endless joy, loyalty, and a whole lot of tail wags into your life. If you're ready for a unique and loving companion, let's embark on this journey together. I can't wait to meet my forever family and create new memories filled with love and laughter! Please inquire about me today!

Story
Maurice is such an amazing dog. He has an undeniable enthusiasm for life, and his resilient spirit and glowing personality shine so bright it’s nearly impossible to not immediately fall for him. Maurice's story began when he unexpectedly stopped walking one day. Disc issues are fairly common for his breed, and unfortunately, he suffered a slipped disc resulting in hind-end weakness. When he first arrived in our care, he couldn't use his hind legs at all...but now he runs and plays with the best of them! (Albeit a little clumsily.) His hind legs are weak and can't always keep up with him, but he's gotten stronger every day. He'll likely never fully regain all his strength but isn't doesn't affect his outlook on life. He LOVES to play and loves to cuddle. He does great with other dogs and has a gentle disposition. He’s a fast learner, and at only 1.5 years old has a lot of potential and is very eager to impress her human friends with his versatility. When he stopped walking, his owners abandoned him at a local crowded city shelter. Thankfully, the shelter reached out to us, and we knew he was meant to be here. Other than not being the strongest walker, Maurice is a healthy and happy boy who just wants to spread his joy to the world. He’s simply stunning and has the best most trusting and loving personality a pup can have. He’s a truly unique and remarkable little creature! Interested in finding out more about this special guy? Story
Meet the heartwarming story of little Poppy, a brave soul who triumphed against all odds. Abandoned at a dog park, her fate took a fortunate turn when a kind-hearted Samaritan brought her to a local city shelter. However, the shelter's limited resources left her facing a grim future of euthanasia. Luckily, fate intervened once again when a former employee of ours, now working at the shelter's animal hospital, stepped in and reached out to us. And so, Poppy's new life journey began.Poppy faces challenges with IVDD, which had left her hind limbs paralyzed and unable to manage her potty needs independently. Despite her rocky journey, spending just a few minutes with her belies the hardships she has endured. Her undying zest for life, resilient spirit, and radiant personality make it impossible not to fall in love with her instantly. When she arrived at our rescue, she couldn't use her hind legs at all. However, with dedication and care from her doctor, along with a daily stretching regimen, she has made incredible progress and now stands tall, walks, and even runs on all four legs! Though she may still be a bit wobbly, her potential shines at three years old, and she's eager to impress her human friends with her speed and versatility.Poppy required assistance in expressing her bladder multiple times a day when she first arrived to our rescue, but she has greatly improved in her ability to eliminate on her own and no longer needs to be expressed. She should still be checked regularly by her veterinarian to ensure she is fully eliminating by herself, but for now she is and she is doing great. Poppy is a healthy and happy girl who simply wants to share her boundless joy with the world. Her loving and trusting personality is beyond compare, making her a truly unique and remarkable little creature. We envision Poppy's ideal forever home to be with an experienced and caring owner who can dedicate time to meet her special requirements. As she prefers to be the center of attention, a home without other dogs would suit her best. We are determined to give this incredible girl the life she deserves, filled with possibilities, and most importantly, an abundance of love.If you're intrigued by this extraordinary girl and want to learn more, please apply today! Together, we can make sure Poppy's journey continues with the warmth and care she deserves.

Story
This girl was in bad shape before we rescued her; she was saved off the streets, but she is looking much better now. Bougee looks like a big ol’ Bulldog in photos, but she's actually one of the tiniest Bulldogs you've ever seen! She's a compact 34 pounds and about 5 years old. This girl is guaranteed to make you laugh every day, but she has the personality of a typical Bulldog--she's extremely stubborn and needs a strong pack leader to set clear boundaries in her life to thrive. She's playful but doesn't like to play with tennis balls or small balls; nope, she is crazy about a soccer ball or a football. She has a very high prey drive when out on walks, however she's great with cats inside the house in a calm environment. She would do best in a home without kids. After a short walk, she's ready to eat and then nap hard! She loves to nap with her tongue hanging out, it's super cute.March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Story
Friendly, affectionate, and entertaining, Droopy wants to have a romp with his toys or go on a walk, then to rest that big ol’ head on your lap while you scratch his chin. As his foster family lovingly explains, Droopy “will be your best friend but also needs 23 hours of sleep per day.” He knows how to sit on command and takes his treats very gently. Around 10 years old, this big (83 lbs.), handsome guy is crate trained, potty trained and knows the basics. He can be stubborn at times (isn't that part of their charm?).Droopy was found as a stray and is ready to live the good life with you. Fill out an adoption application today!March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm

Story
I'm Atticus, and Katara is my mom. My favorite place is on my foster mom's lap. She says I am 'super sweet.' I was born in March, and in early May, I weighed 12 pounds. I am a special needs pup - I have an issue between two vertebrae, L6 and L7. I likely may eventually walk but will need some extra time and help to get there. I also may need to wear a diaper...but one thing at a time. I am still growing and who knows what might happen. I currently weigh about 25 pounds!Wondering about how I got here? Just before my mama's time was up at the shelter, TLRD saved her. She went straight to the vet. The vet's office called TLRD and said, SURPRISE, Katara is going to be a mom! We are sooooo lucky that TLRD saved our mama and were dedicated to her and to us.March 1, 2024, 7:47 pm
