Dahlia is the sweetest. Loves dogs, babies, kids, you name it. Very up to play time, but she also loves to snuggle. She does well on a leash. She’s spayed and up to date on vaccines. Totally housebroken.

Story
We purchased Maui in 2021 from a local breeder, and he just turned 3 in September. After moving into an apartment complex, we no longer have the space for him. He is very hyper on walks and enjoys socializing with other dogs. Additionally, we started working full time, so we are unable to spend as much time with him as he deserves, and are looking to rehome him. Maui also does have skin allergies and we take him every other month to Petco to receive a shot of cytopoint. It cost around 130. Its important to us that Maui can be with someone that is able to pay for these medical expenses so he can continue to live his life happy and comfortable.

Story
This funny mug belongs to Squashy Nice! We call her Squash, Squish, Squoosh, Smoosh, Shorty McSnorty, Speed Bump, or Buzzsaw ;) There’s probably more. How much time do you have? Squash is a petite Frenchie pup who had the misfortune to be used by a breeder, but when her basic medical needs started to put a dent in the profits, they abandoned her. She was found roaming the streets with such bad ear infections that the shelter thought she needed to have her ear canals closed permanently. Thankfully, after they saved her from moving vehicles, the shelter staff were able to start healing her ears with meds. Lucky girl! Because she can definitely hear! We finished the treatments with our awesome rescue vet, and now her ears look great and she's ready to find a responsible, loving family of her own! Squoosh was probably born around February 2023. She's not even two yet and has already been a mom, possibly more than once. She was emaciated when we first got her but looks great now at 22ish pounds – and it’s crucial for her health and joints that she doesn’t become overweight. She's a roly-poly little girl, not built like a greyhound at all :-) In fact, she's a lot like a potbelly pig, and she snorts enough to give the pigs a run for their money! She has the energy of an area rug, with an occasional zoomie thrown in ;) She was rather unruly, in the way of most adolescents, when she first walked through the door to her foster home, but she’s been working hard on her manners ever since! Her foster fam is so impressed with how much she has learned and how greatly her manners have improved. We know it's a lot for a lost little shelter dog to wrap their head around so quickly, and we’re really quite proud of her! And so, we are looking for pet parents who understand leadership and appreciate little puppies with lovely manners. We want to see Squash in a home with folks who will continue to reinforce her impressive behavior! Frenchies aren’t typically known for being polite and respectful, so we're excited to have the best mannered Frenchie on the planet in our rescue! She's a smart little gremlin and treat motivated too. You can't ask for much more than that. Squishy's forever family will have older children if any, and a peaceful, low energy environment preferably with a mellow companion dog. A fenced yard is required, doesn't have to be a big one. Stairs are difficult though, so a place without too many is best. She gets along with everyone she meets - although like most little dogs and like so many French bulls, she can be barky when she sees new people or dogs, but she'll turn it off if you ask her to! Her favorite hobbies include trying to steal the big dogs’ beds, taking naps, snuggling, farting (sometimes while napping/snuggling), eating, and laying in the middle of the floor in the best location to trip you up. Equally important, Squash's future family should fully understand the extra expenses that come with having a brachycephalic dog. These guys have been bred to look a certain way for human pleasure alone, but in doing so we've created a number of inherent health concerns. Many Frenchies need airway surgery so they can breathe easier - it's not cheap. Heat stroke is also a major concern when your face is smooshed back into your skull. A lot of bulldog types deal with skin issues and/or allergies (which a raw food diet can really help). Too many Frenchies are also afflicted with spinal issues, sometimes resulting in rear end paralysis. We’re looking for parents who are not afraid of the vet (and the cost), and who will be extra careful with her activity so she has less risk of spinal injury and IVDD. She already has a hitch in her step so she should take it easy, not be overly rambunctious, and absolutely no jumping on and off furniture. All this might seem like a tall ask, but if you want a fancy breeder dog, you’ve gotta accept all that comes with it. Frenchies are not the dog for everyone, but if you’re ready, hit us up! She’s a hoot and will keep you in stitches all day long. Even if she’s fast asleep! adoptions@waggingdog.org ~ Adoptions within Southern California only please ~ http://waggingdog.org/October 25, 2024, 12:15 am

Story
Meet Bonnie! She has mastered the doggy door and enjoys going in and out all day long. Bonnie is completely 100% housebroken by use of the doggy door and loves to entertain herself by tossing her toys around, especially her very favorite hamburger toy! She’ll even happily bring it to anyone she trusts for a game of fetch! Bonnie is a total sweetheart who loves to be held in your arms. She was attention-starved before coming to rescue, but has blossomed since finding her foster home. At night, Bonnie snuggles in bed with her humans and loves being the center of attention. She’s truly enjoying her life as a house dog, and she prefers someone who will let her lay on the couch beside them. Bonnie is spayed and received her vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies) and she is microchipped. Bonnie has lived with multiple small dogs since rescued. Larger dogs can be intimidating for her. She was previously fostered in a home with three small dogs and a German Shepherd, and she was terrified of the larger dog and she avoided the big dog. Bonnie currently lives with two small male dogs (10 pounds and 4 pounds) and one female dog (20 pounds), and she enjoys their company. Bonnie can be selective about whom she trusts due to a fear of strangers. She would do best in a quiet, mature home. With time and patience, you’ll discover her affectionate side—once she feels safe, she’s all about love, snuggles, and playing with her toys! You will quickly know when Bonnie has decided you are trustworthy, because she will bring you her very special prized possession – her hamburger! Bonnie has been fostered with older, respectful kids who understood boundaries and she did wonderfully with them; however, Bonnie wasn’t treated very nicely in the past, so the rescue as a measure of setting her up for success, will be placing her in a home without small or young children. If you’re an open-minded person with love to give and willing to give Bonnie the time she needs to adjust, you absolutely won’t be disappointed! She may not run up to greet you with kisses right away, but with ample time (historically about 2-4 days), she will become a totally different dog, revealing the gem she truly is. Once she trusts you, she’ll happily let you hold her like a baby and shower you with love! We are looking for placement with a yard for Bonnie. She wouldn’t be happy in apartment style living. She absolutely loves going out into the backyard and goes outside during the day all on her own to play, (throw her favorite toy up in the air to herself), sunbathe etc. PLEASE NO CALLS OR TEXTS, AS WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS. If you’re interested, please complete an application at: saveabowwow.com/rescue/adoption-form. If a dog is listed, it is available for adoption. Once a dog is pending adoption, this page will be updated accordingly. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization and do not have anyone available to monitor the many phone calls we receive each day. We would be happy to review your application and, ideally, approve you to provide our rescued dog with a loving adoptive home if your situation is the right fit for this awesome dog. Thank you for your interest and for reading this listing in its entirety! Fine Print: -All of our French bulldogs must be walked with a harness (never on a neck collar). -The rescue requires adoptive family to obtain pet insurance for coverage of congenital and hereditary conditions. This is for any of the dogs in our rescue identified as a French Bulldog or a Frenchie Mix. Adoption will be finalized once the proof of pet insurance requirement is met. (There are some great policies ranging between $28-35per month) -We have an open door policy and are always here to discuss anything that may arise with your adoptive pet. After an adoption is conducted please do not hesitate to reach out. -This breed generally speaking cannot swim and will sink like bowling balls so we do not adopt out to any homes with unfenced pools. -If you’re seeking a running or hiking companion, this is not the breed for you. These are funny, quirky, special little dogs that enjoy being with their human but tend to be lazy couch potatoes with bouts of “zoomies”. -All breeds and ages are our veterinarians best educated guess (unless otherwise stated that our group has breeder paperwork)
