Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PHOENIX was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Phoenix is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2023 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Phoenix is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $150. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. FLISS was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Fliss is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. FLISS was really scared when she first arrived and wanted to keep her distance, which considering all that she has been through leaving her country and rescue and arriving in America is to be expected. She shares a kennel with her amputee friend, KAI who has helped her settle and gain confidence and within just a few days she was charging around playing with him and has been letting me pet her and rub her neck and scratch her ears, which she really likes. She will most likely be scared when going to her new home, as most dogs are so we are looking for a family who understands and can be patient and give her time to adapt.  Sight hounds do need a good amount of exercise, they tend to have bursts of energy, like Greyhounds and so a relatively active family is needed and one that can give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 November 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 35 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Story
It is with a heavy heart that we are seeking a new home for our beloved Luuka. Luuka is a 4-year-old dog full of energy and affection. While we aren't entirely sure of his breed, we believe he is a mix of German Shepherd and Greyhound, combining the best traits of both breeds. Personality: Luuka is a sweet and loyal protector who loves to run and play. He enjoys nighttime snuggles and is always eager to please. Training: He learns quickly and, with consistency and training, has the potential to be an exceptional companion. He thrives on routine and positive reinforcement. Exercise: He needs plenty of exercise and would do best with an active owner who can give him the time and space to burn off his energy. Compatibility: Luuka is not very good with children, so a home without young kids would be ideal. He can get along well with other dogs if properly acclimated and introduced gradually We are reluctantly looking to rehome Luuka due to the arrival of our second child.

Ruby is a little under a year old and came in with her brother Duke. The duo are German Shepherd/American Bulldog mixes and Ruby already weighs 70lbs!Ruby is a bit reserved at first, but with some treats and reassurance from her friends at MHS this pretty lady comes out of her shell quickly! Ruby loves affection, loves chasing tennis balls or any squeaker toy, and loves going on runs, she is the perfect running partner! Ruby does great with any command that you give her, is housebroken, and crate trained. Ruby has lived with young children before. Ideally Ruby would love someone that has the time and patience to work with her through some of her shyness, as every new situation can be a bit daunting for her at first, but if she trusts her human you can see Ruby's confidence shine. Ruby would love a fenced in yard where she can spend most of her days running around outside or just basking in the sun. Ruby will be spayed, microchipped, and is UTD on her vaccinations. Name: DukeAge: Under a yearBreed: German Shepherd/American Bulldog MixDogs: YesCats:TBDKids: Over 5Say Hello to Duke! This handsome big guy has a lot of love to give! Duke is a little under a year old and is a German Shepherd/American Bulldog mix who joined the MHS family with his sister Ruby. This guy is already 85lbs and still growing! If you are searching for a happy-go-lucky, goofy, playful, and affectionate pup, look no further... Duke is your guy! Duke gets along great with other dogs, walks great on a leash, and is learning his basic commands. Duke loves his walks and going for a run, but also loves his chill time with his favorite people. Duke is housebroken and crate-trained. We are saying children over 5 for Duke because although he lived with a young child before, he likes to jump up to give hugs when he greets his people, and well, sometimes Duke doesn't realize how big he is. Duke is UTD on his vaccinations, micro-chipped and will be neutered. If you would like to make Duke a part of your family, please fill out an application today! https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

If interested in adopting, fostering, or fostering to adopt Sadie please fill out an application here http://www.bestfriendsforlifeanimalrescue.com/ Sadie I'm thinking maybe we could rest and dream This world in not enough for me Sadie This may sound crazy but I don't always dream I just can't fall asleep without you I'm counting down the days since I've seen your smile, your face- from 'Sadie' by The Bunny The Bear. Sadie is a sweet 2 year old Shepherd mix weighing 55 lbs. She is already house and crate trained and is working on improving her leash manners. She can be a little shy at first but quickly resumes her sweet loving affectionate demeanor. She is good with other dogs. She has not been around cats so we are unsure how she would react to them. She made the road trip from a Kansas shelter to our rescue in CT quite well. Sadie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. All she needs now is her very own forever loving family and home where the world will finally be a good place. Will you be the one who will give her a wonderful life where together you can rest and dream? Will you be the one who will always come back to Sadie?

Story
This remarkable dog was discovered abandoned in a rural area where he had endured exposure to the rain for an indeterminate period. Concerned passersby initially suspected he was injured, but upon my arrival, he eagerly hopped into my car and indulged in an entire box of treats. He's proven to be the most entertaining, affectionate, and intelligent companion I've ever encountered. His teeth bear the marks of neglect rather than age-related wear, and we estimate his age to be around 4-5 years. He adores car rides, and walks, and remains a loyal, dependable companion who never strays far. He is fully house-trained, adept at using a pet door, and gets along famously with other dogs. One of his ears has a distinctive appearance due to a past illness or injury that went untreated, but our vet has addressed it, and it appears to be in good condition now, although it will retain its unique appearance. If you're interested in welcoming Knuckles or any of our Funny Farm friends into your home, please visit funnyfarmpets.org to learn more about our Tennessee-based rescue, the adoption process, the comprehensive vetting procedures these pets undergo before they come to your home, and to submit an adoption application. The adoption fee for this pet is $325, and an additional $200 is required for transport. Currently located in a foster home in Tennessee, this pet will be transported to a northern location after the adoption process is finalized. For details on meeting locations and the transport process, please visit the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org.
