Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This sweet girl showed up at my house several weeks ago. We’ve tried and were unsuccessful at locating any owners. I can’t begin to describe just how wonderful she is. She tries so hard to listen and will follow you around loyally. She is amazed by treats and loves to cuddle and/or sit next to you. You can see the joy on her face when she gets to. She does not get along with my dog, it seems to be a jealousy issue and she needs to be an only dog. I think she wants someone all to herself to be devoted to. The vet estimated her to be between 3-5 years old and said she has had a litter in the past. That’s the extent I know of her background. I had her spayed and vaccinated. She tested negative for heart worms and is now on flea/tick/heart worm prevention. I sent off for her DNA results and it came back 49% German Shepherd. She is an excellent watch dog, but I haven’t found her to be an excessive barker. She really needs someone to love and appreciate her.

Story
Lovely lulu Lulu or Louise as her foster mom calls her, is a German Shepherd Dog (GSD) and LOVES her person! She is full grown, is about 5 and a half years old, and weighs about 55 pounds. Lulu is big, but has shorter legs than normal so she is not very tall she also has a cute bobbed tail! Lulu came to us after being abandoned with her 6 month old puppy when her family moved. She lived on the property and the surrounding streets for weeks until a few neighbors reached out for help. Her puppy was adopted, but in top of being Heartworm positive, we found out a big surprise- Lulu was pregnant! Back in February of 2022 she gave birth to 7 beautiful puppies and they have since all found wonderful homes! Now that she has finished her heartworm treatment, it is time for Lulu to find a forever family! Lulu loves to play with her furry foster brother, take long pack walks with her foster siblings and chase squirrels in the back yard. Having a home with a playful male doggy friend would be ideal for her. Lulu loves her foster mom and would prefer a female owner since guys are so big and scary. She is good with dog savvy teenagers. She does require and fenced in yard as she can be a little nervous around strangers and will take some time to warm up. Lulu is housebroken and loves to spend her nights either in bed with her person or on a comfy couch. Lulu is so sweet but is not good with yappy dogs or cats, she likes to chase them! Also Lulu is not good with small children their running about makes her nervous.

Story
Clover is looking for a lucky family to call her own! Clover is a beautiful German Shepherd mix. She is full grown at about 45 lbs and has a beautiful soft coat you'll want to snuggle up to. She is one of our pups from Lulu's litter who were born last year. Due to no fault of her own she is looking for a new committed family to give her a forever home! She has plenty of puppy energy to spare and will need an active owner! We think that an owner who wants a hiking or jogging companion would be ideal. This sweet girl is true to her working breed genes. She is very curious, loves her family, other playful dogs and loves to go go go!! Clover LOVES other dogs, especially those that like to wrestle and play chase. After a long day, she likes to curl up on the couch with her people and four legged friends. Clover has not been around cats with us, she does do well with older kids. (She is a little too roudy for young, small kids). She is working hard on leash manners and does well in her crate for short periods of time. Clovers forever family should be very active, home often during the day and have high energy, large dog experience. She is quick to learn and is very food motivated. She currently knows sit, shake, stay and come. Our main concern is that Clover laughs at fences- she can clear even a 6 fit privacy fence like a deer! So she will need a family who does NOT have a fence but has a large yard. She will also need an owner who is committed to continuing training and working on recall. Clovers forever home should not have small animals. Could Clover be the piece your pack is looking for? Story
Mirabel is now up for adoption! We love her and we will be sad to see her go, but we are so happy to she is ready for the this next step in her life and her forever family! On Christmas Eve 2021, Mirabel came to us after suffering a horrific bite wound to her head. While her skull and left eye were intact, the bite ripped off her left ear and most of the skin on the left side of her head. She was surrendered to FHS and the vet team was able to save her! She saw a wonderful surgeon and ophthalmologist over the course of the last year who were able to move her neck skin over her wound, perform a TECA-LBO (where her ear canal and ear structures were removed) on the left side, and where her left eye was able to be saved. She also got a "loosening" of her scar in late 2022 that allowed her to see better from her left eye. Throughout all of this, Mirabel has remained happy, playful, and a trooper! She has not complained once! We call her the Unicorn because she is so unique and because she has one ear which often ends up standing up on her head! Mirabel is AWESOME and she has the best personality! She loves all dogs and she is super active. She NEEDS another young dog in her forever home to play and wrestle with. When she goes to a foster home without another playmate she becomes very sad and it's clear that the misses having a playtime. She loves going on walks and meeting new people- Mirabel is a social butterfly and should have owner who loves outdoor time too! Oh, and she is housebroken and crate trained! Her favorite toys are anything that dispense or hide food or are something that she can chew. Bully sticks, ox tails, thick rawhide, and buffalo horns are some of her favorites! Not only does she want a home with a doggy friend, but she would also like a home where she can be on the couch- it is her go to spot when she has nothing better to do. If it's quiet, she is probably curled up on the corner of the couch and just waiting for the next adventure! In the evening, she loves to cuddle up with her family and watch TV. She will also need a fenced in yard! Mirabel has a prey drive and loves to chase squirrels and birds. She tends to be a "leap before looking" kind of dog so this can get her into some trouble. She LOVES car rides and having adventures and is up for pretty much anything! Mirabel is just over a year old and weighs 45 pounds. She is full grown and appears to be some kind of Shepherd mix. She does have a few quirks: -She hates her nails being trimmed! -She can be nippy and bouncy with kids, so a home without young kids would be best. She isn't bad with kids, but she spent most of her puppyhood with adults and sometimes she gets too rowdy with children. -Despite being raised with cats, as she has grown up, so has her prey drive and she will need a home without cats or small animals. She thinks that chasing and catching small fast moving critters is TOO much fun! But she is good with chickens from behind a fence. Mirabel is a super special girl and we are looking for her super special forever home! Are you the right person for our little unicorn? Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Prince! He loves to play with his indestructible toys, go for long walks (or runs), and he loves to cuddle (preferably on the bed if you’ll let him). He really loves food too. He is a great watch dog: sits by the front window just waiting for family members to come home and the Amazon drivers know him well. He loves to help keep our family cat in the basement, if the cat tries to get out he is happy to herd the cat back to where it belongs. So he won’t kill a cat, but our cat is not happy around Prince. This dog will be celebrating his 4th birthday in June. He comes from strong working lines and he is very smart and highly trainable. He needs a strong handler and he needs training. He has been so bored as his teenagers left home one by one. He used to love going to dog day care but in the last 2 years he has become too dominant to be around other dogs. He might be able to revert with the right training. He is very good in the house but will eat things like socks if he’s bored.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
She was adopted from the shelter and is so sweet natured and a lover. She’s high energy and needs a lot of excercise. She loves walking and running and definitely loves attention. Potty trained and well mannered. She’s 2 yrs old and just needs more time and attention. My work is now causing me to be out of town a lot and it’s not fair to her. A fenced in yard would be ideal for her to run and play. She’s very smart and she is obsessed with ice cubes! Lol she will run to the freezer when she hears you getting ice. She knows sit, shake, spin and lay down. She’s a great family dog!

Story
With a heavy heart I have to depart with my Sarge because he's a bit much for my husband who is in his late sixties. I purchased Sarge from a breeder in Chicago. He was born on February 15, 2021. He was eight weeks. When I put him in my car in the back seat, he made his way to the front seat. Sarge is a loving loyal dog. He's house trained but loves his time outside and walks. He's easy to train. The commands he knows are, wait when it's time to eat (ok or point at his bowl) he'll eat. He knows stay, come, leave, sit, quiet. He looks at you for your approval. He love fetch and get the ball. He also loves to run with his me if I decide to run on our walks. He loves to be brushed and rubbed. He loves his toys and chew bones. He also love long car rides. I am looking for a loving home that has a large backyard, with a fenced in yard.
