Story
Meet Diane, the affectionate and playful pup who's sure to make you laugh! This smart girl is a fast learner and keeps her living space tidy (a rare find!). She loves nothing more than a good car ride, fun sniff walks, and interesting enrichment activities to keep her mind busy. Diane is a real social butterfly and enjoys the company of other dogs, especially those that can keep up with her playful roughhousing! She's a true love bug, always ready to give kisses and cuddles, and will be a loyal and funny companion. Diane is best suited for a home with older children, as she loves the calm energy and can give her full attention to her humans. She is a Shepherd mix that is approximately 3 1/2 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly prevention. We are unsure about cats at this time. Could you be the one to offer Diane her forever home and endless love? Story
Meet Mystic! This sensational two-year-old shepherd mix is ready to playfully pounce her way right into your life. She's 65-pounds and ready to start her life with you! Mystic recently went on an outing with some of our awesome volunteers and they just raved about how great she did. They took her to Metamora State Park where she explored all sorts of new things. She loves to engage in mental stimulation and is eager to please. Training her will be a blast as she is a very curious and confident girl! She already knows sit and is capable of learning so much more! Mystic is always on the move and will benefit from daily exercise and mental stimulation in her new home. A yard for her to enjoy is a must for this lively lady. Her inquisitive nature balances with her goofy goodness makes her the ultimate pup package! She is motivated by food, toys, and affection and will make your days bright for many years to come! She rides well in the car and is ready to join you on all of your adventures! Based on our evaluation, we feel Mystic would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think she is the match you've been searching for, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our magical Mystic!

Story
Zion’s journey is nothing short of miraculous. Found abandoned with his sister on the streets of Lapeer County, both were labeled feral, anxious, and aggressive after being brought into animal control. Sadly, his sister didn’t make it - but Zion’s story took a different turn. Terrified and misunderstood, Zion spent three months deteriorating in the shelter, biting out of fear and only trusting one volunteer. Just when it seemed like his time was up, a compassionate shelter worker reached out to our training program for a last-chance intervention. We met Zion, saw the spark behind his fear, and knew he deserved a shot. Shortly after his rescue, Zion began panting excessively - and we discovered a horrifying surprise: a 4-inch spinner hook lodged deep in his tongue and throat. Emergency surgery saved his life, and with it, his future. Since then, Zion has undergone full vetting and has blossomed under our care. Now, this stunning young German Shepherd (estimated 1.5-2 years old) is thriving in training and preparing for his forever home. Zion is a high-energy, high-drive boy who will do best with an experienced handler familiar with working breeds. He’s incredibly loving, protective, and dog-friendly - he adores romping around with canine pals and is always up for a game of chase. Zion’s silly side shines through in his signature “teethy kisses” - a gentle, goofy gesture where he places his teeth on your cheek or head to show affection. He’s loyal, playful, and ready to bond deeply with the right person. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a resilient spirit and a whole lot of love to give, Zion might be your perfect match! Adoption Fee: $250 Up to date on vaccinations Dog-friendly! Story
Dorothy is a sweet loving little dog. She loves every person she meets, young, old, male or female, they are all friends. She is also great with all the dogs she meets. Dorothy will give a small growl if another dog is pushing her too far, but as long as the humans step in and make the other dog give her a break she will settle and not take it any farther. She is a lover, not a fighter. Dorothy would love a home with a doggie friend as well as a family that enjoys cuddling with her. Story
Amelia Checking In From Oregon! I’m all healed up from my spay and READY TO ROLL! I absolutely LOVE my foster brother Thor — I steal his ball every chance I get and I’m a professional keep-away player. I’m still learning how to be brave in the world. New people can be a little spooky at first, but I warm up fast once I know you’re kind. Car rides? Hmm… still not totally convinced, but Thor is teaching me they’re fun, and I trust him. What I’m Looking For: I would be happiest in a quieter home with another friendly dog who wants to play with me. I adore canine siblings and feel so much more confident with another pup around. My Skills: Potty trained Kennel (aka “bed”) trained Velcro girl — I bond deeply with my human Eager to learn Fun, sweet, and silly Okay… I’m still working on not putting my paws on the counter. But honestly? I just want to see what’s going on up there! The Best Part? I’m a sweet little Shepinois, full of potential, playfulness, and love. I’m ready to find my forever family and a doggy sibling to help show me the ropes. If you think I could be your girl… Please apply to adopt me! I’m ready for my happily ever after.
