Story
Rex is a resilient, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his incredible spirit 💛🐾 Born with congenital megaesophagus, Rex has learned that a little extra care just means a little extra love. He needs to be fed upright in a Bailey chair so his meals can safely reach his stomach — and he handles his special routine like an absolute champ. He thrives on a high-quality, nutrient-dense diet (currently The Farmer’s Dog), which has been working wonderfully for him. Rex will need lifelong management, including his upright feeding routine, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to help him feel his very best. While megaesophagus can shorten a dog’s lifespan, Rex refuses to let it define him or dull his joy. He greets each day with enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and an eagerness to be close to his people. He is a loving, social sweetheart who adores attention, companionship, and being part of the action. Rex is looking for a dedicated, compassionate adopter who can continue his care and give him the warm, supportive home he truly deserves. In return, he’ll give you unwavering love, resilience that inspires, and a bond that is nothing short of extraordinary. - Around 3 years 2 months old - Currently 71lbs - Adoption fee: $175 This dog is currently housed at our shelter. If you are interested, please come in at your earliest availability during our open hours, no appointment necessary. We do same-day adoptions, do not hold dogs, and work on a first-come, first-served basis as long as it is an excellent fit for both parties. If you have questions or want to possibly schedule an appointment on one of our closed days, you may email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Future vaccines, tests, and treatments will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
Meet Phil, the adventurous and affectionate teenager with a heart of gold! This brave and playful boy is always up for a good time and will keep you on your toes with his high energy and playful spirit. Phil is a smart and athletic pup who is eager to explore the world and make new friends, both human and canine. He is in his rambunctious youth, so positive reinforcement training is key to helping him grow into a well-behaved good boy. Phil is 1 year old (11/13/24), neutered, up to date on vaccine, house-trained and crate-trained. He knows sit, walks decent on a leash, and is great with other dogs and would like to have a canine house mate to play with! Phil is good with children over the age of 8 years old. No history on cats. Phil is a tall big boy at approximately 75-80 lbs. (we are struggling getting a good weight). With his charming personality and adorable looks, Phil is sure to capture the heart of anyone he meets. So, if you're looking for a fun-loving companion to join you on all your exciting journeys, Phil is the perfect pooch for you! Fill out our online application for preapproval to set up a meet and greet and let the adventures begin! https://www.parpets.org/adoption-application.html

Story
Such a pretty girl! Princesa is estimated to be about 7 or 8 years old and weighs 68 pounds. Meet Princesa, a senior lady with a sweet demeanor and as you can see from her pictures, a smile that will warm your soul! Unfortunately, she came to the rescue heartworm positive, but she was such a trooper and finished her treatment while staying her happy, loving self. Now Princesa is ready to start her new life with a family to love her. She is a true princess, with a gentle nature and so very connecting, she just wants to be close to you. She can be a little submissive though, so her adopter needs to know how to assert themselves as a leader she can rely on and have shepherd experience. Princesa is very engaged with you and just craving affection and reassurance. She also already knows sit and has a solid recall. She will need a home where any children are at least 8 years old and may prefer a quieter, more predictable type home to match her personality. Princesa is looking for a family to call her own, where she can be the center of attention and showered with all the love and care she deserves. We sure hate to see seniors in this kennel environment, could you be the one to give this sweet muffin the forever home she dreams of? Princesa would love it if you came to meet her. If you are interested in Princesa and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
