Story
This 2 year old brother (Max) and sister (Stella with one blue eye and one brown eye!) German Shepherd/Husky mix lost their 51-year old owner suddenly; he died. Now they are in the yard, being cared for daily by their owner's elderly Aunt who cannot keep them. They must be adopted as a pair as they are closely bonded. They are used to enjoying the Dog Park and riding in the car. They are used to spending time outside in a fenced in yard and in the house when their owner is home. They are very loving, housebroken and balanced temperament. They make excellent watch dogs and companion buddies.

Story
Carl is an awesome dog. He has not been socialized, and he will need an owner that can patiently take it easy with him until he gains their trust. He has alot of energy so the adopt-ee should have a large yard. He loves to chase tennis balls. Once he gets to know his new master, he will love you to the end. Yes he does love to cuddle. I can not keep him as he is left alone for up to 12 hours a day, and it is not fair for him to hold in his waste. My wife passed and I have no one to take care of him. He need more attention than I can give him. I also travel a lot and the different Airbnbs, tend to stress him out. He has never had an accident ever. Please help Carl. I can not stand the thought of taking him to the pound. He deserves a chance. Thank you.

We adopted Kody in April 2017. Kody is very sweet, anxious and excitable. He was raised with another dog in the house. He does well with and loves older kids, not babies or eye level toddlers.

Story
Heyyy guys! My name is Marge. I am a GORGEOUS GIRL looking for a forever home. I was found after being hit by a car- luckily nothing was broken but I was pretty sore.  I am almost ready for adoption and LOVE LOVE LOVE my people. I am a typical shepherd so experience is preferred.  CCRC will update more about me as they learn all the awesomeness that comes with me. IF you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an application TODAY!  We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   January 17, 2025, 8:41 am

Story
Have had her since a pup, been a very smart dog well behaved and easy going for a high energy breed. A fenced in yard or lead would be ideal but if you supervise her while outside she stays around. Listens to commands and is obedient. Great with kids and other dogs, reason I cannot keep her any longer is due to moving soon and I won’t be able to have her at my new residence unfortunately.

Story
Meet Nala! This stunning six-year-old shepherd is as gorgeous as they come! Her wonderful personality makes her the perfect 65-pound package! Our darling Nala was surrendered to GLDR by a family that no longer had time for her. As she had been with them her whole life, she is understandably stressed in the kennel environment. Let's help Nala find the absolute best family out there! Not just a pretty face, Nala is also one smart gal! She knows several of her basic commands and doesn't disappoint. Nala is house-trained and slept in her dog bed at her previous home. She loves being groomed and enjoys meeting new friends as well. Nala will need a home where she can get daily exercise and have a yard to explore. Some of our volunteers took her for an outing and she had the best time! They took a 4 mile hike and Nala enjoyed every second of it! She seems to enjoy the water and will try to pick up every stick she can. She loves to play fetch and tug! Nala does fabulous on her leash too! They ended their adventure with a pup cup which Nala happily devoured! She seemed to relax a bit more in the car and with more practice we think she'll get more comfy on car rides. Based on our evaluation, we Nala will do well in an active home with adults or with families with kids ages eight and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other dogs. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! Let's show Nala the best is yet to come! Visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this enchanting pup!

Story
Riley is a 1 year old dog. Has grown up in the Marines with her owner her entire life. Due to injury her Marine is now home with family, with another dog, multiple cats and a very busy lifestyle. Riley needs someone that can be active with her. She does well in pack environments at doggy daycares. However, possibly due to her energy level, that's focused on just one dog, it is a very unpredictable relationship with the home dog. Riley does not show aggression towards the 2 kittens, or 2 adult cats in home, but she will not leave them alone. She follows them everywhere and cries if she can't reach them. When they do a decide to lay with her, she will sniff them and push them around with her snout, until they finally leave because the best word to describe it is, she's very annoying. She loves and is very accepting/submissive with all humans. Well behaved and loves to please, unfortunately the current environment is unhealthy for both dogs with some fights.
