Rex will need lifelong management, including special feeding routines, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to help him feel his best. While this condition may shorten his lifespan, Rex doesn’t let that dim his joy—he’s a loving, social dog who adores spending time with people, soaking up attention, and greeting each day with enthusiasm. Meet Gem the 4yr Shepherd/Husky! Gem has had a terrible past involving horrific abuse. She came into our care completely unresponsive, starved almost to death at 25lbs and unable to walk, stand or even lift her head. She had a lengthy stay at the emergency vet and required blood transfusions, tube feeding and months of rehabilitation following. Despite her terrible past, she is still a very happy, playful and sweet girl. She can't wait to find her happily ever after! Gem adores meeting new doggy friends and does great with pups of all shapes and sizes. She has had limited interactions with cats, however with proper introductions we think she would do well. At times, she can struggle with meeting new people, but with some treats she becomes everyone’s friend. Due to her past, she is working through a lot of trauma and learning how to be a dog again. She is looking for an experienced and patient family who is willing to continue building her confidence and working on gaining her manners back. Gem has made huge strides in her rehabilitation from abuse. She is now house trained and hasn’t had an accident in several months. We do suggest that she is taken out frequently to keep her on the right track. She can struggle with separation anxiety at times and tends to bark when she can’t be a part of what’s going on. Due to this, we do not feel like she would be a great candidate for apartment living. Lastly, she still has a weakness for food. She must be watched closely if her dog treats are easily accessible (or human food is left unattended). With this being said, she is crate trained and does best when crated during these instances or when unattended. On the flip side, being so treat motivated has been helping in her rehabilitation! Despite all of the things she is working on relearning, Gem has a heart of gold! She is such a loyal, resilient and energetic gal. She would love to join an energetic family who can show her the love and understanding she deserves. Gem is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Jasmine is a 2 year old German Shepherd who is highly intelligent, energetic, and very sweet. She currently weighs about 75 lbs and has a beautiful sable stock coat. You may recall we pulled Jasmine into our rescue when she was deteriorating from the stress of animal control, because we knew we could provide her with the structure and environment to support her rehabilitation. And now it's her time to shine! Jasmine would make a loving companion and is eager to learn. She is currently progressing through our training program with Unleashed Freedom K9 Academy where she is working on commands, structure, and boundaries to help her become a well-rounded and successful dog in a home environment. Meet Claire Bear! Claire Bear is a beautiful 1.5-year-old girl with a big heart to match her big size. Claire was originally adopted from a local shelter as a puppy but was recently returned a year later when her family decided they no longer wanted her. Understandably, she was very shut down and petrified in the shelter environment - but once she felt safe again, her true, sweet personality started to shine. Claire currently weighs about 83 lbs and could benefit from losing a little weight, as she appears to have been overfed in the past. With regular exercise and a consistent routine, she’ll be feeling her best in no time. She is a social and friendly girl who absolutely loves playing with other dogs that are tolerant of her size and enthusiastic energy. Because she can be a bit much for smaller dogs, she’d do best with similarly sized canine friends. Claire has lived with cats previously and done well. This happy girl enjoys romping around outside and would thrive in a home with a physically fenced yard, as her leash manners still need some polishing. She has a good understanding of house manners and is learning about crate training - she’s new to it since her previous owners allowed her to free-range.
