Story
MEET PIPER: Hi there! I'm Piper! Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a sweet, playful girl who’s about 2 years old. They think I’m a Doberman mix, maybe with a little German Shepherd—I like to think I got the best of both!  I’ve had a bit of a rough start in life. I was adopted from a shelter once before as a puppy, but sadly, my first family abandoned me. I ended up alone, hungry, and very scared until some amazing humans from Detroit Pit Crew found me and saved my life. Now I’m safe and sound with Furever Tails Animal Rescue, getting ready to find my real forever home. I’ve been given a clean bill of health from the vet, but I’m still on a special journey to gain some weight. Right now I’m only about 55 pounds, but I should be closer to 60! So my foster family feeds me three times a day with slow, gentle meals to help me grow strong. I’m very good in my kennel when they’re away—no chewing or messes, I promise! Personality-wise? I’m a total goofball! I love playing with other dogs, and I’m absolutely obsessed with tennis balls. (Fair warning—I haven’t quite figured out the “fetch” part yet… I tend to keep the ball and invite you to chase me.) I’m tall and sometimes I forget my own size, so I might bump into you gently when I’m excited. I’d do best with kids who don’t mind a playful nudge now and then. I would love a fully fenced in yard or someone who is active and like to go for long walks. Tethering is not an option. I would not do well in an apartment, condo, or mobile home. I would thrive with a family who understands I am still an active, happy, outgoing, playful girl who requires a family or parent of the same lifestyle that matches my needs. What I’m really looking for is a family who will lovr me and promises to keep me forever—no giving up this time. I have so much love to give, and I know I’ll make some family incredibly lucky. Could that be you? Story
Meet Sadie Sadie is a 31lb German Shepherd puppy (DOB 12/28/25) with so much love to give—she just needs the right family to help her feel safe enough to show it. Born to two German Shepherd parents from an accidental litter, Sadie and her siblings spent their early months living a very isolated lifestyle. While her parents have since been sterilized to prevent this from happening again, Sadie is now starting her journey of discovering the world for the first time. Because of her limited exposure early on, Sadie can be initally shy and unsure in new situations. She’s still learning that new people, sounds, and experiences can be safe - and even fun. With a little patience and encouragement, her sweet personality really begins to shine. Once she feels comfortable, Sadie is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and eager to connect. Sadie is currently working on building her confidence, as well as learning basic puppy skills like house training and crate training. She will need a dedicated family committed to continuing her training and socialization in a positive, structured way. A calm, patient home will be key in helping her grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult. Because she has no leash experience yet, Sadie will require a physically fenced yard where she can safely explore and build confidence at her own pace. As a young German Shepherd, she will also benefit from an active home that understands the needs of her breed - both mentally and physically. Sadie is looking for more than just a home - she’s looking for someone willing to invest the time, love, and patience it takes to help her blossom. In return, you’ll gain a deeply loyal companion who will form an incredible bond with her person. If you have the heart and dedication to help Sadie grow into the dog she’s meant to be, she will reward you with a lifetime of love and devotion. Sadie is ready to find her forever family… could that be you?  Sadie is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for spay surgery at our partner Veterinary office at 6 months of age. ADOPTION FEE: $400 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. Story
Meet Claire Bear! Claire Bear is a beautiful 1.5-year-old, 83lb girl with a big heart to match her big size. Claire was originally adopted from a local shelter as a puppy but was recently returned a year later when her family decided they no longer wanted her. Understandably, she was very shut down and petrified in the shelter environment - but once she felt safe again, her true, sweet personality started to shine. Claire is a social and friendly girl who absolutely loves playing with other dogs that are tolerant of her size and enthusiastic energy. Because she can be a bit much for smaller dogs or seniors. Claire has lived with cats previously and done well. This happy girl enjoys romping around outside and would thrive in a home with a physically fenced yard or an active walking family. She has a good understanding of house manners and is crate trained - she was previously allowed her to free-range. Unfortunately, boredom led her to occasionally chew shoes, so she’ll benefit from structure, enrichment, and plenty of appropriate toys (which she loves!). Claire Bear adores spending time with her people, does well with dog-savvy children, and truly has all the makings of a wonderful family dog. She’s affectionate, playful, and just wants a family who will love her, guide her, and commit to her furever. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a playful spirit and a whole lot of love to give, Claire Bear might be your perfect match. Those beautiful, soulful brown eyes say it all! Princesa is estimated to be about 8 years old and weighs 68 pounds. Meet Princesa, a senior lady with the sweetest demeanor and a smile that will warm your heart! Unfortunately, she came to the rescue heartworm positive, but this brave girl powered through her treatment while staying her happy, loving self. Now Princesa is healthy and ready to start her new life with a family that will love her forever. She is a true princess, with the gentlest nature and so very connecting, she only wants to be close to you. She can be a little submissive and would thrive with a confident leader who has shepherd experience, someone she can rely on and help her feel safe and supported. Princesa is very engaged with you and just craving affection and reassurance. She already knows sit, has a solid recall and as you can see from her pictures, is the perfect model! Princesa deserves a soft place to land with a family who will cherish her, where she can be the center of attention and showered with all the love and care she deserves. She would prefer a quieter, more predictable type home to match her personality and where any children are at least 8 years old. We really hate seeing seniors in the kennel, this sweet muffin is ready for love and a home. Princessa would love it if you came to meet her. If you are interested in Princesa and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Oh beautiful, sweet, shy Jade, she is such a treasure. She is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 45 pounds. Jade is a stunning girl with the most sensitive heart; she is a little scared of the world right now. It takes her a little bit of time to open up, but once she feels safe, she is a cuddler and just craves interaction. She likes to stay close to you and lean in for love. The poor muffin is very hand shy and needs a patient and understanding leader to help her navigate the world and build her confidence. She is curious about toys and, with a little guidance, could learn to embrace her playful side. It is hard to explain, you can see it, this sweet girl just waiting to blossom and love life. Her adopter should be prepared and have the time to work with Jade on her fears, but she will be so worth it. She will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old with her timid, insecure nature. Jade would love it if you came to meet her, she can't wait to have a family to love. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Jade would love to meet them. She is very underconfident with other dogs and definitely seems more open to dogs with softer personalities. She really looks to her handler for comfort and guidance. If you are interested in Jade and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying.
