Story
Beautiful Daisy and her head tilt, too cute! She is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 56 pounds. Daisy is a gorgeous young girl with lots of love to give! She's very attentive to you, looking for your next instructions. Daisy is very people-oriented too and will always be close to your side, craving closeness and attention. She would be the perfect addition to your family, providing you with love and companionship, she is such a nice girl. Daisy does need a little work on some basic obedience and walking on leash, she tends to pull a bit. Hopefully her new family can help her with this, she is so smart, she should pick it up quickly. Daisy does need an adopter who understands the mental needs of a GSD as well as their need for leadership to be successful and a home where any children are at least 8 years old. Daisy is currently undergoing heartworm treatment at the rescue. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Daisy would love to meet them. She has an excited, friendly approach with other dogs with an “all in” playstyle. If you are interested in Daisy and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Brynn! Our beautiful Brynn is a two-year-old shepherd mix who is ready to race her way into your heart. All 45 pounds of her is eager to be your new best friend! If you're looking for a dog that can keep up with you on your adventures, look no further than Brynn! This girl absolutely loves to run! You can see the sheer joy on her face as she zooms around the yard. A fenced-in yard is a must for this fast-paced pup! Brynn will need a family that will be devoted to keeping her exercised and engaged. After she's done with her cardio, she doesn't hesitate to lean in and and ask for some ear rubs. Brynn knows "sit" and is capable of learning even more. She takes her treats gently and is a very affectionate girl! She will benefit from continued training and we know she'll make you proud. Based on our evaluation, Brynn would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. She may have the potential to live with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Brynn is the pup for you, visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and fill out an application for our bubbly Brynn!

Story
Ace is a pure bred long haired German shepherd that came from lionheart shepherds as a puppy. He turned 2 years old in November. He has been through a 3 week residential training through happy tails and knows the basics. Ace is very smart and sweet and lovable. Ace’s only issue is being dog reactive and doesn’t do well with other dogs. He is looking for a new home with no other dogs unfortunately. He is very loyal and like velcro. He’s pretty much the best dog you could ask for other than being dog reactive.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
