Meet Rex 🐶💙—a resilient, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his incredible spirit! Rex was born with congenital megaesophagus, which means he needs to be fed upright in a Bailey chair so his food can safely reach his stomach. He does great with this routine and thrives on a high-quality, nutrient-dense diet, currently The Farmer’s Dog, which has been working wonderfully for him. Rex will need lifelong management, including special feeding routines, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to help him feel his best. While this condition may shorten his lifespan, Rex doesn’t let that dim his joy—he’s a loving, social dog who adores spending time with people, soaking up attention, and greeting each day with enthusiasm. Rex is looking for a dedicated adopter who can continue his care and give him the warm, supportive home he truly deserves 🏡❤️ ✨ Bailey chair will be sent home when adopted ✨ - Around 3 years old - Currently just under 75lbs - Good with kids, prefers a slow introduction to dogs and cats. - Adoption fee: $350 To inquire about this dog, please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. Those who provide the previous information will be considered first for this canine. Please do NOT call our center. This will help us match you and the animal the best we can. We usually respond via email within 24-48 hours; please check your spam folder if you don't hear from us. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Future vaccines, tests, and treatments will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
Meet Gem the 4yr Shepherd/Husky! Gem has had a terrible past involving horrific abuse. She came into our care completely unresponsive, starved almost to death at 25lbs and unable to walk, stand or even lift her head. She had a lengthy stay at the emergency vet and required blood transfusions, tube feeding and months of rehabilitation following. Despite her terrible past, she is still a very happy, playful and sweet girl. She can't wait to find her happily ever after! Gem adores meeting new doggy friends and does great with pups of all shapes and sizes. She has had limited interactions with cats, however with proper introductions we think she would do well. At times, she can struggle with meeting new people, but with some treats she becomes everyone’s friend. Due to her past, she is working through a lot of trauma and learning how to be a dog again. She is looking for an experienced and patient family who is willing to continue building her confidence and working on gaining her manners back. Gem has made huge strides in her rehabilitation from abuse. She is now house trained and hasn’t had an accident in several months. We do suggest that she is taken out frequently to keep her on the right track. She can struggle with separation anxiety at times and tends to bark when she can’t be a part of what’s going on. Due to this, we do not feel like she would be a great candidate for apartment living. Lastly, she still has a weakness for food. She must be watched closely if her dog treats are easily accessible (or human food is left unattended). With this being said, she is crate trained and does best when crated during these instances or when unattended. On the flip side, being so treat motivated has been helping in her rehabilitation! Despite all of the things she is working on relearning, Gem has a heart of gold! She is such a loyal, resilient and energetic gal. She would love to join an energetic family who can show her the love and understanding she deserves. Gem is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. She is house trained, crate trained, knows her basic commands and listens very well. Does Gem sound like a good fit for your family? Reach out for an adoption application!

Story
Max was rescued at 1-1/2 (now 7years old). His owners were elderly and lived in a motor home. They could no longer take care of him. He was adopted by my daughter and 12 year old grandson. They also have a shiatsu and a Lhasa apso mix. Max fit right into the family. My daughter lost her home and she and her now 19-year-old son moved in with me (her mother). This was a temporary solution. The three dogs were included in this move. My daughter now has new housing which allows only 2 dogs and no large dogs. My grandson has moved in with friends and cannot bring Max. I promised to keep him until we found a good home for him. Max is a good dog and responds to some directions. He appears to be a very smart dog and is friendly once he becomes comfortable with strangers. This usually takes 10 minutes if you don't expect too much of him. He has never bitten any one while in our care. He is very protective and lets people know it with a growl. He needs someone who is active.

Story
Athena is a bright, spirited German Shepherd puppy with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life. She is curious, intelligent, and always ready for her next adventure. Athena approaches the world with enthusiasm and thrives when she has guidance, structure, and positive outlets for her energy. She is not a cuddly, couch-loving puppy, but Athena bonds deeply through engagement and training. She truly shines when she has a purpose and a job ;learning new skills, problem-solving, or staying active alongside her person. With the right balance of exercise and mental stimulation, she is incredibly fun and rewarding to work with. Athena is best suited for someone who is experienced and enjoys training and understands the needs of high-drive, working-line dogs. She may be a challenge at times, but for the right home, she offers intelligence, loyalty, and the chance to build an amazing partnership.
