Story
Rex is a resilient, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his incredible spirit 💛🐾 Currently in a loving foster home, Rex is a 3+ year-old neutered German Shepherd, weighing about 74–75 pounds. Born with congenital megaesophagus, he’s learned that a little extra care simply means a little extra love—and he handles his routine like an absolute champion. Rex requires lifelong management, including eating several small, high-quality meals each day (he’s thriving on The Farmer’s Dog) while positioned upright on a step stool, along with medication twice daily—morning and late afternoon—and regular veterinary care. While megaesophagus can present challenges, Rex refuses to let it define him. He greets every day with joy, a wagging tail, and an eagerness to be close to his people. And what a companion he is. Rex is house trained, highly intelligent, and wonderfully well-behaved—so trustworthy he doesn’t even need to be crated when left alone. He doesn’t destroy things, rides beautifully in the car, and has a playful, goofy sense of humor that will keep you smiling. He absolutely thrives on attention and companionship. Aside from his special feeding needs (and skipping swimming), Rex can do just about anything a typical dog can—and more. He would excel in activities like agility, rally, or scent work. He already loves playing Hide-and-Seek with both people and his toys, and he’s incredibly good at it! His vocabulary is growing quickly, and his eagerness to learn makes him an amazing partner. Rex is looking for a dedicated, compassionate adopter who has the time and heart to continue his care and give him the loving, supportive home he deserves. In return, he’ll give you unwavering devotion, endless affection, and a bond that is truly one of a kind. Rex needs your help to find his forever home—and he’s ready to fill it with love. 🐾💛 - Around 3-3.5 years old - Currently just under 75lbs - Good with kids - Prefers to be the only animal in the home and soak up all the love - Adoption fee: $175 To inquire about this dog, please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. We usually respond via email within 24-48 hours; please check your spam folder if you don't hear from us. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Story
Those beautiful, soulful brown eyes say it all! Princesa is estimated to be about 8 years old and weighs 68 pounds. Meet Princesa, a senior lady with the sweetest demeanor and a smile that will warm your heart! Unfortunately, she came to the rescue heartworm positive, but this brave girl powered through her treatment while staying her happy, loving self. Now Princesa is healthy and ready to start her new life with a family that will love her forever. She is a true princess, with the gentlest nature and so very connecting, she only wants to be close to you. She can be a little submissive and would thrive with a confident leader who has shepherd experience, someone she can rely on and help her feel safe and supported. Princesa is very engaged with you and just craving affection and reassurance. She already knows sit, has a solid recall and as you can see from her pictures, is the perfect model! Princesa deserves a soft place to land with a family who will cherish her, where she can be the center of attention and showered with all the love and care she deserves. She would prefer a quieter, more predictable type home to match her personality and where any children are at least 8 years old. We really hate seeing seniors in the kennel, this sweet muffin is ready for love and a home. Princessa would love it if you came to meet her. If you are interested in Princesa and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

✨ The Ultimate Family Dog: Amazing with kids of all ages! 🐾 Dog & Cat Friendly: Loves having furry buddies to play with.Meet Millie, a gorgeous 5-year-old German Shepherd who is the ultimate family dog—she loves kids, cats, AND other dogs.Millie is a 5-year-old sweet, oversized baby who absolutely loves everyone she meets! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is fantastic with kids of all ages. While she can be a little skittish at times, she is truly an incredible companion. Millie is a big ball of energy, which is why we are looking to rehome her—our current busy schedule unfortunately doesn't give her the time and attention she deserves. She will thrive best in an active home with a fenced yard (or invisible fence: she has one currently) to run in, and she would love to have another dog buddy to play with!

Story
**If you are interested in adopting Sushi, please contact Adelayda at (ademontes6@gmail.com).** Meet Sushi 🖤🐾 Sushi is a handsome 2-year-old German Shepherd with a sweet heart and playful personality. He’s a loving, well-behaved companion who thrives on routine, affection, and spending time with his people. Sushi absolutely loves his family and is happiest when he’s included in everyday life. He’s great with kids, enjoys walks, and has an active side typical of a young shepherd. He can sometimes pull on the leash when excited, but overall he’s a gentle dog who wants to please and enjoys being with his humans. Sushi is playful, smart, and comfortable with structure and routine. Sushi’s current family loves him very much, but unfortunately they’re unable to provide the kind of lifestyle and activity level a German Shepherd truly deserves. They want to find him a home where he can continue to grow, stay active, and get the time and engagement he needs. He should go to a home without cats. His behavior with other dogs is currently unknown. Sushi would do best with someone ready for an affectionate, active best friend who will return that love tenfold. 💕 *This pet is featured through our Pet Re-Homing Program. This is a private pet. Please use your best judgement when deciding to meet. Any questions or comments regarding this pet should be directed to the owner listed. Again, this is not a pet affiliated with Oakland County Animal Shelter. This program was created to help residents of Oakland County needing placement of a loving pet and hopefully avoiding a stressful shelter environment.
