Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Laura Van Zomermen (Laura@hatw.org), 734-7866228 for more information about this pet.Meet Kash!  Kash is around 1.5 years old and a German Shepherd/Lab mix.  Kash can be very hyper, but he loves to cuddle and LOVES to be outside.  He is a fast learner, but does need some basic obedience training when it comes to jumping on people.  Although his initial reaction is to bark when he sees other dogs, it is just because he is happy.  When he actually meets them he does very well.  Kash has also been around a number of young kids and was very nice.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Ludwig is recently back with Last Day Dog Rescue after 8 years due to no fault of his own and is still settling into his new surroundings, but we've already learned a few things about him. Ludwig is a dog who loves the company of adults and would thrive in a calm, quiet environment. He's not a fan of young children and would be happiest as the only canine companion in the home. Ludwig has a lot of love to give to the right person and he’s very well behaved. He's looking for an experienced dog owner who will understand his needs and is willing to provide him with patience, and a safe, predictable routine. A fenced yard would be a bonus, allowing him to explore safely. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. March 4, 2025, 12:37 pm

Story
We adopted Cooper from an animal rescue when he was a puppy. He came all the over from Texas! He is such a sweet boy he loves to run around the backyard and sunbathe. He is easily excitable but also loves to relax and snuggle with you. We unfortunately have to rehome him due to his aggression towards our young daughter. He has bitten her once before and he snarls at her if she gets too close to him. We have had pet sitters watch him when we are gone and he does well with older children or teenagers. He needs to be in a home where there is no small children. He gets along with our other dog but he does not like groups of dogs such as a doggie daycare. He has food aggression towards other dogs. He has not shown aggression towards cats but he gets fixated on them and chases them. He would likely do better in a house without other animals. He also has hypothyroidism so he will need to be on thyroid medication for the rest of his life.

Story
This is a courtesy post for HSHV. This is a great dog for the right person! Hi, everyone, my name is Clover. I tend to become overwhelmed easily, and the shelter environment is, well, rather overwhelming. So I'm looking to be rescued ASAP by a patient and understanding human; someone who's prepared (with a pocketful of snacks, ideally) to help me keep my cool when I'm venturing outside my comfort zone. I'm a fun-loving dog who loves to play chase, so a home with cats wouldn't be a good fit for my exuberant personality. If you've got the skills to read both my subtle and not so subtle body language, I'd love for you to be my guiding light. Being a 1-year-old German shepherd, it goes without saying that I have an overabundance of energy as well as a brilliant mind. If you're a human with an active lifestyle, I want in on it. I'm talking hikes, fetch, puzzles. I'd even be open to some agility training once I get to know you a little better. Please teach me to channel my energy away from fear and towards fun! Since I'm a sensitive girl, I'd do best in a single family home without dogs and adults only. Remember, adoption is not just about finding a pet; it's about changing a life. Are you craving a new chapter? Me too! Take a chance on this pup, and you'll be rewarded with a transformation beyond your wildest dreams.

Approximate age / Weight: 1.5 yrs old and 50 lbs. Personality: Looking to upgrade your health routine with a personal trainer who also moonlights as a cuddle buddy? Meet Arnold! This energetic 1.5-year-old, 50-pound bundle of joy is not just any dog; he’s your new wellness coach. Arnold will have you marching on long walks, sharing your snacks (yes, he’s got his eyes on those extra calories), and snuggling up to ensure you don’t sneak away for a midnight snack. Think of him as your fitness guru with a side of fluff. Arnold came to Waggin’ Tails from Detroit Animal Control in the summer of 2023, and though he had a rough start with an injury that required hip replacement surgery, he’s bounced back like the champ he is. Now, he’s all about living life to the fullest—fetching, playing, and probably eyeing your workout gear with a “Let’s go!” look. He may not be the best fit for dog parks or daycare, especially if you’re a male husky, but he’s a charmer with lady dogs and always respects their personal space. Arnold is a water-loving dynamo, so if you’re into swimming, he’s your guy. Looking for a high-energy companion who’ll keep you on your toes (and off the couch)? Arnold is adaptable to various home environments, as long as he gets his share of exercise and mental stimulation. If you’re up for the challenge of keeping up with this lively pup, he’s ready to keep pace with you and make your life a whole lot more fun.
